This pleases me. Looking forward to hearing them.

So to tl;dr this whole game; its all just Burn's impression and nothing is confirmed due to serious lack of red text?

Klashikari 2010-08-15 07:31

Actually, it is exactly because of the lack of blue and red that this Episode may be the most critical in clues, a bit like Episode 1.
And that truth is perhaps the one that makes sense "the most" in contrast with Episode 5 and 6's.

MeoTwister5 2010-08-15 07:41

I agree with that because we've more or less become dependent on blue or red to confirm and argue things beyond a shadow of a doubt. By relying less on on the colored text, we need to be more attentive to things that aren't stated outright.

Used Can 2010-08-15 07:45

Would you guys expect an ending like the one in "The Burning Court"?
Personally, I think that'd be amazing.

sailorsean 2010-08-15 08:21

Well, I received my copy of Ep.7 today and since I don't know a lick of Japanese I basically just fast-forwarded the whole story and watched that.
And for some reason, for me this episode felt extremely short, I was able to get thorough the entire scenario within 20-25 minutes.
In other episodes just fast-forwarding took me a good 45-50 minutes to get through them. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels like this...?
However, the Tea Party was definitely the longest Tea Party in all the episodes.

Klashikari 2010-08-15 08:51

I wouldn't say 20-25 minutes, but yes the first part is noticeably shorter than usual. Granted, the fact there are far less meta world effects / transitions definitely explains why you can fast forward that quickly.

Episode 7 certainly looks shorter than 4-5-6, but I wouldn't put it shorter than 3 though.

Sir Andy Richter 2010-08-15 09:16

Why would Ryukishi lie at this stage of the game?

I have no choice but to accept everything in EP7.

Tyabann 2010-08-15 09:26

4chan doesn't seem to be conscious of it at all, but what happens in the Tea Party is what Bern considers to be "the truth" of what happened on Rokkenjima, correct?

Used Can 2010-08-15 09:34

I just couldn't take a smile out of my face when the other servants where basically the ass-neechans.

Dlanor .A. Nox 2010-08-15 10:32

I couldn't stop laughing once I seen the actual seven SERVANTS.

ArcticHelm 2010-08-15 11:00

Only sprite that really creeps me out is the young kinzo one. :| Burn with fire!

goldenlove27 2010-08-15 11:13

Ha ha! :heh: Watch what you say because there are some that he looks sexy and they might burn you with fire. But you know Kinzo is always burned with fire so... yeah... :/
As for the Ass nee-chans.... Still doable, (especially Belph). :3

immblueversion 2010-08-15 11:26

So, what are the names of all the Maids of Purgatory?

MeoTwister5 2010-08-15 11:36

Okay God and schedule willing I'll probably be posting summaries again for this episode like I did for the entirety of episode 5 and halfway through episode 6 (Ep6 got so complicated that I simply couldn't muster the brain power to finish it). As I said before this is equal parts every bit of Japanese I learned in college, a pair of dictionaries and a machine translator.

Again these will only be summaries of the text and not the actual text and dialogue itself, and do not expect them to be completely accurate. They are not intended to be substitutes for a well-oiled translation team ala Witchunt, they are only meant to be... supplementary at best. Like before, feel free to correct me when I fuck up along the way (which is to say a good amount of the time :eyespin:).

My friend's copy arrives tomorrow and I'll end up borrowing it as I'm too poor for my own copy right now. I'll start probably Tuesday. Here's to hoping it's not as complex and technical as Ep6 was, damn that was a headache.

Renall 2010-08-15 11:39

It's not, with some exceptions. I think you'll have a lot less trouble with it than ep6 especially.

I hope so. When I got to the parts beyond the logic error's introduction I found myself second guessing everything I read due to the complexities of the debates and especially the length of the reds and blues. Especially the reds and blues, because some of them came in ENTIRE paragraphs. I may even have seen kanji I couldn't even find in the dictionary. Even in English a lot of them was still somewhat difficult.:upset:

Edit - I was actually never trained to read any kanji characters. The classes I took all went through some katakana and all the hiragana.

goldenlove27 2010-08-15 11:46

Well in advance MeoTwister5, I will thank you as I have now knowledge of the japanese language. I don't know if I ever thanked you for the other times you gave the other summaries so thank you for them as well.

Digdri 2010-08-15 12:24

Also big thanks from me for continuing your summaries. I think just like me everybody here who isn't versed in Japanese but just wants to at least remotely keep up with all this theorycrafting discussion is really appreciating what you do. Keep up the good work.

Besides I always thought of them as perfectly fine for how they were just meant to give a broad idea of whats the story is dealing with in each chapter. And it really help getting a general feel for the big topic of the EPs.
If you indicate how some things are too complicated to represent clearly or maybe only a half truth or similar stuff, thats really okay for me as we all know that we don't have to expect any more than that in a "right after the release translation session". Besides those parts you were confident about were mostly spot in on the surface level.
Someone who really wants all this little referential stuff and metaphoric to fit perfectly should just keep away from this posts here and read it for himself or wait for the seriously QC'ed translation from WH in half a year (hopefully ^^).

Besides your worries about the Red/Blue/Blue and how they need exacter translations seem unfounded from what gets posted on spoilers thread as there is almost no colored text this time.

I'm not someone to judge the complexity but Renall already made a CTRL-skipping summery of at least the the basics of which characters are present and interacting and which settings are presented for the whole EP in the spoilers thread, so you may want to skip over this stuff to get any idea of what you have to deal with later. :D
Sounds more disturbing than complex to me at least.

ijriims 2010-08-15 12:26

We need to add back some "love" back to the tea party of EP7, then we would have the Truth.

Now I have to dig back my posts on "Kyrie=Beatrice=mastermind" theory.

I don't believe Kyrie as such a bitch.

So, if I'm not mistaken, I heard that at the orphanage Yasu was raised in, there was one orphan who ended up going to Rokkenjima and became Shannon, while Yasu ended up making an alternate personality based off of this person, which ended up becoming the Shannon we're familiar with.

Does this mean Satan is the "real" Shannon, or are we just as lost for that?

Which maid corresponds to each of the stakes?

Maruko-Kun 2010-08-15 15:24

I think...

Asune = Asmodeus
Berune = Beelzebub
Manon = Mammon
Renon = Leviathan
Runon = Lucifer
Shannon = Satan

And yes, I don't know about Belphegor as well :/

Klashikari 2010-08-15 15:44

No, Satan isn't Shannon. I'm currently reading that part again, but Maid Satan and Shannon aren't the same.

Mystified 2010-08-15 16:44

They all end with 'non', so some of those are wrong.

Sanon
Renon
Manon
Berunon
Benon
Anon
Runon

At least, that's what my friend figured out.

KoiYuki 2010-08-15 17:21

I was told it was the same kanji, so they shoudn't be Benon or Anon.

Klashikari 2010-08-15 17:30

That is correct: only the kanji is the same, but the prononciation isn't always the same.
Asmodeus and Belzeebub are called respectively Asune (明日音) and Berune (鐘音).
I guess we will have to update Shannon and Kanon bio tips.

By the way, Lucifer, Leviathan, Satan and Belphegor don't have any name for the whole time we got the first 4 chapters of Claire/Yasu. And no, it cannot be Renon, etc, because these servants are "currently" working on Rokkenjima (1986), so it is impossible for them to be there around, when Yasu/Claire was starting working there.

KoiYuki 2010-08-15 17:37

So they couldn't still be working there (just Renon, Runon, & Manon)? Wonder what they'd be called then..

Klashikari 2010-08-15 17:44

As explained in previous episodes and this one, all of the Fukuin servants only work for the Ushiromiya for 2-3 years (exceptions: Yasu and Shannon), then they are done, and have a good background with the family so they can be introduced elsewhere.

The timeline of Yasu's story is arguably old and we were shown that the 4 "stakes" were done with their work at the main house.
So it is impossible for these 4 to be Renon, Manon etc.

Tyabann 2010-08-15 20:16

So "Manon", "Renon", and "Runon" sharing the first syllables of "Mammon", "Leviathan", and "Lucifer", respectively, is just coincidence?

I don't buy that. It's too perfect.

Disz 2010-08-15 20:29

?

No Belphe?

LyricalAura 2010-08-15 20:42

Will's bio TIP, for anyone who's interested.

Spoiler for Willard H. Wright:

And if you're curious why he's giving up his name...

Just a note, the chara TIP (if I'm reading it correctly) is actually completely gender-ambiguous, e.g., the "young man" line just says "youth".

...I imagine it'll be a massive pain to translate such lines, since it's harder to dodge in English by far.

Yeah, I just realized that too. I'll go back and (try to) change it.

Normally TL notes give me hives, but in a case like this, maybe it would be better to stick a note in the bio and then refer to Leon as "he" by default?
