Honestly, the more you say those, the more I want Bandai not to make those , though I want an MG Astrea and the type-f version

why would bandai make so early a kit that will go into competition with the excellent 1/100 HG (sorry but No grade is so lame!)??? It's not the centre of the series so it's a kit really for the big fans.
Maybe in like 5 years you will get it just like we got red and blue frame eventuelly when the HG is technically a bit dated.

Now they really should make a MG zaku warrior!, excellent kit to repaint 10 times and the 1/100 HG is getting a bit dated :)

HG 1/100 are excellent? In terms of what? I find newer 00 NG 1/100 kits better.

I agree that we should get an MG Zaku Warrior. But taht would only mean Bandai will milk us with its variations.

Isn't that always the case?:heh: Look at the numerous UC Zakus and the original Gundam.

Anyway, just got my MG Destiny EBM. Though when I got the package, it came with a letter from the shop saying that the yellow Gundam marker was sold out. I was kinda disappointed there but at least they gave me a refund.

Yes, I know :P Just saying the obvious

StrikeFreedomV2 2011-10-12 02:45

So I started building the MG Strike Freedom and this is what I got so far:

I colored some of the vents and parts that will be exposed even with the armor on with a golden gundam marker.

To clarify, I was refering to only the 1/100 astraea, which has no grade slapped on it, but i find it stupid not to put HG on it as it is a better kit then a 1/144 HG.

Yes we can repaint the Zaku Warrior quite a lot, but that's what bandai likes making alot of models from the same sculpt. Mean lots of revenues for little investments.

As i am a Zaku Warrior addict it will bankrupt me for shure :heh:

I knew I misunderstand what you said. Thanks for the clarification.

I don't have the HG 1/144, but I love the amount of weapons that comes with it

Chiu_fan 2011-10-12 10:44

I've been working on my MG Destiny EBM for 4 hours straight now and damn I'm impressed with the build. Not yet finished though but it will probably finished by tomorrow.

To the experienced modelers out there, I have a question. What's the fastest and safest way to separate the 3 combined fingers of an MG? I've been sawing them off with a hobby knife and it takes me about 30mins each.

Don't separate the fingers. It's never a good idea to do it from what I understand. Just leave those separate fingers to the PG kits. =)

If you still want to separate the fingers, then take your time doing what you have been doing.

And you should really give the MG Destiny EBM a full paint job. ;)

Enjoy the MG kit.

I've been separating my MGs' fingers ever since I got my first one(MG Gundam Ver. 2.0) and I haven't had a problem in doing it except that it just takes a lot of time and needs to be handled with care.

hmm.. hobby saw? not very sure what it is called but its like a hobby knife with a jagged edge somewhat like a mini saw. if you bought your hobby knife from a hobby store they should stock it too. :)

personally i prefer it when the 3 fingers arent seperated. that just adds more small pieces that can fall of and the articulation isnt exactly limited when they stay together^^

I've seen these special 1/100 hands you can buy, which are fully articulated. Might be better than endlessly carving away :P

I will. I already slapped all the armor on and will probably gonna take some pictures tomorrow. Whatīs left to build are the backpack, the rifles and the Action Base.

ars89 2011-10-12 14:28

anyone have a size comparison of a SD against an HG or MG, thinking about picking up some, are they easier are harder to put together since they're so small?

Even though I donīt own any SD kits and therefore canīt make a comparison, I will tell what I know about them. They have very few parts and are very easy to put toghether. But you need to paint them to actually make them look good.

Okay, here goes an SD & HG side-by-side.

Don't mind the Kung-Fu Panda Po. :D

http://forums.animesuki.com/picture....ictureid=41116

SDs are VERY easy to assemble. The only drawback is the limited joints and you NEED to paint them A LOT! :D

EDIT: Here's my other pic of Bakunetsumaru if you want a closer look at an SD.

ars89 2011-10-12 19:24

Thanks for the comparison. The only thing i'm worried about if i get one is painting it. I've never painted any kits before. Even when i was younger my art teachers always yelled at me because i couldn't stay in the lines. I feel like if i had to paint it i'd mess it up completely.

Two words... masking tape

=D

maknaedik 2011-10-12 20:31

Yes, masking tape. I used Tamiya and it's pretty reliable. But, that doesn't mean you can go over and spray like there's no tomorrow. It'll still bleed if it's too thick, in my experience

DarkWarrior 2011-10-12 20:54

If you're spraying so much paint on that it starts bleeding into the masking tape.. you're doing it wrong. Always spray in a thin layer, adding more layers afterwards if necessary.

And painting is like any other skill. Sure it's going to suck at first, but you'll eventually get better with practice. I recommend practicing with cheap kits first though. :)

Bonta Kun 2011-10-12 21:31

Well if your painting a SD for the first time then I'd think starting off with simple normal paint brushes would be fine.
No need to start off with a airbrush unless you really want to.
If you think your that bad at painting then I'd say go with a normal brush.

Yes a airbrush gives a better finish but such a small model it's kinda unneeded tbh.
It's just with bigger models and more frequent painting, using a airbrush is recommended.

Better to waste your time with a paint brush at first rather than with airbrush:p
Plus you'd be using a fine brush for finer details anyway so it's a good way to start.
And even if you don't want to ruin the model, I'd then suggest getting a simple and cheap injection kit of something like a plane or car to mess around with first.

The choice of addons for the MG Heavyarms is interesting though. Not only does it get a Shield like the Okawara version, but it also gets the combat knife it has in Glory of the Losers. The last add-on though.... is that a beam gun, or something else entirely?

Also, something else from the news:

HG 1/144 SEED Remaster LaGOWE:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-umd4PQAu7D...gtw/s400/7.jpg

Whoever said the HG Seed Line was dead seems to have been sorely mistaken. Well sure the LaGOWE would share parts with the previously released HG BuCUE, but this is the first new SEED kit since forever.

Also, on the HGAG front, the HG G Eguzesu (spelling tentative):

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZYdrKjFc_...48/s640/23.jpg

An MP suit based on the Gundam AGE? Or something entirely different? The chest reminds me of the Shining Gundam though XD

Considering it's displayed as part of a full diorama, not likely.

That white unit looks neat, I'm especially interested in the fact that it looks a lot like the AGE Gundam.

That's the beam saber hidden inside the arm.

And damn, that Gatling gun looks pretty impressive. Feels more menacing than it's upgraded counterpart I'd say.

PzIVf3 2011-10-13 00:37

Possible the white gundam is for the Wolf man i forgot who that name is.

StrikeFreedomV2 2011-10-13 00:56

Awesome to hear that Heavyarms is finally going to be released :D With that, the first 5 Gundams are complete. I wonder if they will make a MG of the Tallgeese...

Anyway, here are some pics from my MG Strike Freedom. I haven't build the backpack yet, probably will today or tomorrow:
