Then, are they not releasing enough Unicorn (and other UC) kits or is the whole market just not doing well, going by the drop in 2011-2012?

I'm also curious to know the market share of UC kits.

Edit: Article was interviews with 7-10ish store owners that complained about their AGE stocks not selling

Age might not be the best gundam series ever, it had some great ideas, the problem is they stay way to close to the origional gundam story which is getting old and boring. I love the gunpla kits, the quality is superb!

The AGE RD figures aren't fantastic designwise with the stretched torsos, but HLJ has them on sale so i bought all 4. It isn't the first RD that doesn't sell well, the Ahead (all version) from 00 gundam were also very bad sellers, even if they are quite good figures (that miss some features, but that's an RD line problem)

And yes there is a economic crisis in the world so sales are bound to be falling a bit.

I still intend to get the MG AGE-1 normal.

Znozzy 2012-10-13 11:59

Honestly, i don't know if they arent releasing enough kits or if the entire market is doing bad, but the usual boom comes when you announce a new series & release new kits(as you can see in the diagram), then it usually takes a dive until more kits are made, i hope someone releases a new diagram for the full year of 2012 so we can see if the sales went up or if they keep falling.

I'll see if i can dig the article up for you monster.

imo, AGE is horrible, but i still like it, it has some good parts but honestly it wasnt really a good show, it had a really good OST and a few likeable characters, but i wouldnt recommend it to someone, i plan on getting a AGE-2 (Normal) MG (And AGE-3 Orbital, if we get one) once i finish my backlist, the show has some amazing designs, too bad the storytelling wasnt as good as the mecha designs :/

Oh, sure they can. The question is whether or not they will do it, and that’s the big question that nobody here can answer exactly. Before Bandai announce anything, we can only speculate.

Imo it’s simply because the HG 1/144 & 1/100 don’t replicate SF’s head well. The HG 1/60 got it good, then it was perfected by the MG & PG ;).

Skye629 2012-10-13 16:40

I honestly agree about the AGE MG kits from a personal perspective, the only MG from it so far which I would consider getting is the AGE-2 DHm simply due to the fact that the design is great, and the overall rule that pirate gundams are win

As for the HG's Bandai can go all out since they're relatively easy to make, and they are quite cheap compared to some of the more expensive (and nicer, I love my HGUC Sazabi lol) HGUC kits

Looks like you need to at least paint up the clear pieces for the forehead camera in clear blue or metallic blue.

Painting it would be nice. Still, I think I'll be fine with the metallic stickers. I'm good at applying them, especially on the visor/camera ;).

duotiga 2012-10-13 22:53

Painting of clear pieces is nothing new....in fact it looks better if you paint it

derrickmc63 2012-10-13 23:04

i like the fact that bandai doesn't color their clear parts. that way, if i wanted a clear piece to be a different color i can just paint it the color i want.

It will be amazing to see how Zeta's transforming frame gets reused in the future for other Transforming units like Wing.

Incase, they'll need to minimize the frame first for Wing, with its height reach up only to around Zeta's chest. Plus it would probably be an entirely new frame given the different transformation.

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2012-10-13 23:44

I’m actually surprised with this articulation:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M48-N1U26C...A/s1600/79.jpg

Given the design, I never thought it could pull it off. Now, I don’t have any complain for Aegis’ articulation. It’s superb!

Wing’s articulation is not really that intricate though. It’s basically only rotating its head & hips, adjusting the shoulders & legs a bit, storing the hands/manipulator inside the arms, and cover the head with the shield. It’s pretty simple that the HG can already do it. So, the RG being transformable is a given imo. But yeah, RG Wing would be nice ;).

duotiga 2012-10-13 23:46

I wonder how are they gonna pull off RG Force impulse or RG ZZ though...

Docking-system is the next level of difficulty for RGs if Bandai really don't want to resort to part-swapping. While the docking in Impulse is pretty simple, the ones on ZZ & Victory is hella complex.

Indeed, i just find it funny :)

@MG Aegis

Oh god, i'd post a picture that explains what im feeling but i cant, it doesnt exist, god Aegis is looks good.

I just hope the MG Aegis doesn't have loose parts falling out all over the place with each pose.

Well given what I have seen of the MG Victory.....shrinking it down is gonna be a disaster lol

Sworra 2012-10-14 15:59

MG Aegis has no backpack so i can see how the articulation is crazy when it comes to doing posing.. Its the sister mobile suit to the MG Age 1 Normal for articulation.

On another note I just started the MG Age 2 Normal.. Have to say the core is odd to build, different from the other MG's i've built.

firefox 2012-10-16 06:38

I find most UC unicorn suits extremely ugly and uninteresting. Only Sinanju and Unicorn gundam itself are woth my attention. I have both as RD figures so no model kits of those.

I gonna go mental with clanche custom. I hope we still get that G-bouncer custom and the chronos.

Yesterday i received my Robot Damashii AGE-1 normal which i got out of a HLJ sale. What a great figure! So underestimated, the promo pictures (where he almost always stands bent forward) don't do it justice!

Unicorn designs are....ugly? Thats probably the first time in my life I have ever heard that lol, not disrespect, to each his own

Im with you on the Clanche Custom & Khronos >.> its a pretty easy remold of the Zeydra imo, the only problem I think which is holding them back are the AGE sales.....

I don't, so I appreciate it when people do post the images.

Kinda have to agree with firefox, I just can't find the vast majority of UC suits to be appealing. Some of them are, though.

Yeah, for those who don’t like the Zulus, GMs, Zeon’s Marine Suits, Rezels, Jegans, Loto, Anksha, or Byalant will be pretty much left in the cold. I can understand the sentiment. Nothing’s wrong with that.

Left in teh cold???

There is more to gundam then UC! I got AGE 1/144 HG's and seed MG's that are fantastic and a MG tallgeese in januari :). I'm don't feel like left in the cold at the moment. I do feel that tehre is inconsistence. There are for instance too much designs, bandai should focus more a a suit and let it do it stuff for more then 1 episode.

I like some UC suits, i even ordered a 1/100 MG rezel (mainly because of the 50% discount ;) ). i'm even building a 1/100 MG Hi-Nu gundam!, even if it is inferior to the 1/200 HCM pro version of it...

You do realize that I was talking in the context of Gundam Unicorn, right? I wasn’t talking about the whole UC Gunpla, let alone Gunpla in its entirety :heh:.

Zeydra 2012-10-17 07:32

On the subject of Unicorn designs I also fall in the area of finding a lot of them ugly. However I actually find that part of the appeal to me, that Byarlant Custom for example, just looks like an absolute brute (haven't seen episode 4 so I don't know yet if it was a brute). And that brutality makes for a appealing and interesting design to me.

That said the Byarlant is not on my purchase priority list.

I kinda know what you mean. I'm not a UC fan at all as you all know. But I have to admit that some of the designs are decent. But my love of Gundam 00 followed by Gundam Age/Gundam Wing to a certain degree makes me disregard (I will admit) other series. =P

For me the appealing thing about the UC suits is their detail, and some of them are really unique, like the Byarlant Custom.

Also, looking at the HG Full Granza - the armour looks like it's too big. It looked much sleeker in the show.

Well, it is an early build, and it's also a HG. If we get it in MG, I would definitely expect that version to look sleek and streamlined. =)

You should check out UC4 & 5, designs are ncie and the mechas dance around. Ep4 has superb grunt combat :)

Thats what happens when you do the Obari workout.

it's a full armor, so honestly i doubt it'll look sleek at all in model form, It wasnt really sleek in the show eithr to be honest.

i'm more interested in the backpack then the actual armor. Armor will make you less sleek, see all other gundams with armor like Alex NT en duel assault shroud.

I received my RD Strike dagger today, in some area's it's a step back from the AGE-1 normal. Why Banday? Why do you have to mess everything up? Can't you just keep what works and add some hardpoints to fit weaposn on??????

Araxiel 2012-10-19 09:57

I kind of hope the full-armour Age-1 stays chunky like that. [I imagine it'll be parts over the top of a Normal rather than moulded-on armour, so hopefully so.]
