All I care about from Shizuoka is the Doven Wolf! Looks great :D

Anyway, on my HGUC Sazabi - sanded down the ball joint and added a layer of school glue and grey paint. It'll hold the leg, but I can't move it without the entire leg dropping off. I guess I'll have to settle for that compromise :/

No, only the weapons and core fighter share molds with the 2.0 and even at that the weapon molds are modified to work with the new manipulators.
Those parts were all near perfect so there was not much point in re-designing them.

The kit itself however is 100% new. New inner frame and an even more complex armour separation than the RG kit

Is that it in terms of MG's shown at this year's Shizuoka Hobby Show? If so, then they failed hard.

Not fail at all

3.0 is a big deal, since we are going to be getting the normal follow ups to the Gundam after its release at some point

Geara DOGA is great news as it will hopefully lead to the much wanted MG Jegans and Zulus later on

Not saying it's a fail for having those kits, it's just how few kits were shown. I was expecting more than 4 since really the MG Age-2 Double Bullet and MG Aile Strike RM Ver. were announced a while ago.

Well the Gundam 3.0 practically announced two more kits, a Green and Red Zaku

And arent we getting the AGE-3 and FX later on?

It annouces absolutely nothing. Plus i don't see the reason to, the zaku 2.0 are technically superb up to date kits, availabe in 10 variants.

if you will be getting anything from the origional new it will be a Dom 2.0 or maybe a gouf custom 2.0

Bandai is trying very hard to keep the old gundam alive, but it's slowly diying in favor of newer stuff. That is unfortunately the way of life.

Now where is my freedom 2.0 :D

How is old gundam dying? I still see many people buying the OYW and 2.0 ofthe RX-78. If it were truly dying then Bandai would not make a new kit for it as demand wouldn't be good enough.

I'll get banned if I say something else XD

Anyway, that Legillis-R's violet seems lighter than it's supposed to be.

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2013-05-18 09:59

^ Well of course. After MG AGE-2 Normal, MG AGE-2 Special Forces is really easy to make to begin with. So, I don't think this online exclusive surprises anyone. It's easy money for Bandai, so it's just a matter of time and mood. If Bandai is in the mood to make MG AGE-2 SF, it will happen easily. Just like what happens now. Unlike MG Justice that will require them to work from scratch.

suiton629 2013-05-19 05:44

Now we might also get the MG Age-1 Unit 2 Assault Jacket and MG Age-1 Full Gransa.

Age 1 unit 2 IS the assault jacket. Bandai are just not going to bother making the actual jacket parts as its a MSV design and they really only sell for very popular series. Age was the worst ranked series on TV ever.

If it is the Assault Jacket, why isn't the Assault Jacket armor pieces being shown?

Age might be the "worst ranked series on TV ever", but it sure as hell is getting a lot of releases. =P

And that's thanks to how the mecha were designs; making it very very likely to release color variations and variations in the wears...

And if this Age-1 Unit 2 is the Assault Jacket variant and this Age-1 Unit 2 MG is confirmed, then I guess the Assault Jacket pieces will be included. =D

Did you not read what I said?!
Bandai will not bother making the Assault Jacket parts!!!

The Age 1 unit 2 was a second unit created for Largan, it would LATER be used as one of the assault jacket test units.

The only reason Age is still getting kits is because the anime studio is still working Age related stuff. Age kits will start to dry up a few months after MOE is released.

Happy now u can get that AGE-2 SF?

No to the assault jacket, its way to under the radar and there is no point to releasing it, I can only see it getting a release if they sneak it into MOE and it is received well

Gransa is a maybe, most likely depending on how well the AGE-3 and FX sells

Providenceangle 2013-05-19 16:57

Why don't you just ignore him. Problem solved. I do the same thing with bandai online exclusives. I ignore them and just buy what I like.

Now on topic. I really like the new stuff coming out. It seems to hit me right in my wallet... MG Jesta, RG GP01, MG geara doga... Maybe I should stop gunpla and save money, to do something useful with my money.... Ah screw it! More gunpla!! lol

firefox 2013-05-20 02:35

Anybody else frustrated about the number of online exclusives bandai is launching?

It's a freaking nightmare for non- japan based builders, not to mention the extra cost for my wallet.

So far the only online exclusive that I might want to have is the Crossbone. But that is just another variation of an existing kit so no real complaints there.
Once they start releasing regular models as exclusives and not just variations, then I'm gonna be pissed as well.
But so far we really did just get variations, extra equipment and effect parts.

It's a ripp of with the extra parts, why can't they just release a MG perfect strike or a RG destiny with wings of light or a RD heavy arms with conversion farts for normal version???

Knight-of-Gold 2013-05-20 07:32

Bandai wont release a new mold as exclusive only. To make back the development costs they need to sell far more than the online store would be able to.

Providenceangle 2013-05-20 07:38

It makes you wonder. They seem to really focus on making their kits appeal to the fans, but then do things that alienate us! I ignore the online exclusives, with the hopes bandai will stop doing them. I'd rather not see them, then be disappointed with, the added cost, if I "had" to have it.

Do the RG GP01's dry transfers look kinda crappy? I hope it's just prototype stuff they had for the recent show. The pictures I've seen so far don't leave me with a good feeling. I'm hoping it's just the camera playing tricks.

duotiga 2013-05-20 07:42

hobby stores/retail shops would be overflow with past & existing stocks & would be hard to clear stocks if they put all premium limited release together with the new releases (not counting the recent LBX releases / Eva/ Macross/ Code Geass/ Valvrave)

on the other hand is a marketing gimmick that enforces you to spend more of their products

I also can say that they are selling as Online Premium to test the market
1 good example is RD Strike (sword launcher parts) , they re-release again as limited before converting into RD Perfect Strike as a normal release

Well I can say that they are trying to push the production cost down at the same time trying to get the revenue by producing Limited on a high end price

Price? RGs are trying its best to maintain its pricing to standard one. Except for Zeta that is. MG perfect strike is done because of option. You have the option to pay for MG Aile Strike only.

Araxiel 2013-05-20 10:11

The colour scheme on the Unit 2 pleases my eyes. Largan, you have good taste.

I would make a joke about the exclusive Age-2 Special Forces version, and the relative costs of an exclusive MG versus some white paint... but honestly, painting white over bright red and blue genuinely is a pain in the ass, so I'll leave it.

Speaking from experience? :D

StrikeFreedomV2 2013-05-20 11:04

I'm gonna paint the HG AGE-2 white. It's gonna be my first attempt in painting... Now I'm a little worried :/

Providenceangle 2013-05-20 11:20

Just be sure to prime your kits first. If you do a good job with presanding you'll get a good result. I've done several black kits, white, (I'm a slut for white) and not had issues. Of course painting plastic in general can be a pain in the ass.

I never sanded before. My Idea was using using Primer on colored pieces whilr their still on the tree and later paint them with a spray can. I guess it's not that simple...? :/

Well sanding the parts will help the paint "Bite", to the plastic. So it doesn't come off so easily. Acrylics will still peal off, due to how they work, what they are made of. It will help if you presand first though. I use a lower grit personally. (200 or so) The paint will help level the surface. Then you go at it with 300 or 400. Get your base nice. Then paint. Go at that with 600-1000 grit, wet sanding.

Knight-of-Gold 2013-05-20 14:25

I will never condone painting on the runner. Once you cut out the pieces you will have horrible nub marks that ruin the look of the painted kit.

StrikeFreedomV2 2013-05-20 14:56

Thanks for the advise guys :) Will get me some sandpaper then

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2013-05-20 15:03

^ And always use a cheap and small kit for your first paint-work so that you won’t regret it much if you ruin it (unless you’re bloody rich and don't mind wasting kits and paints). ;)

This is why I love AGs and 1/144 NGs

StrikeFreedomV2 2013-05-20 15:28

Thats why I'm getting a HG that I already have^^ If mess up, I at least have some spare parts for my old AGE-2^^

Providenceangle 2013-05-20 15:46

So long as you don't go crazy with the paint. You can't mess up. You can always sand back. Just try to mask and spay in thin coats. Regardless of what you use. Spray cans can do a good job too! Of course it's nice to have a airbrush and compressor.

I believe masking isn't, seeing that all the pieces just have to be white :D Thats actually the main reason I'm even considering doing this paintjob, because it's just a simple recoloring in just one color. I was thinking about getting the white HG Gundam AGE-2, but I don't like the different shades of white on it. I wan't it to be as anime-accurate as possible. I have to wait a few weeks, though. HLJ is currently out of stock :/

Just a general tip. You may want to two tone it even? Do a RG treatment! lol

The RG-treatment is exactly what I don't want xD The MG will also have a RG-Look on it, I don't like that on the AGE-2. It does look good, but for me it doesn't lool right, if that makes sense^^
