Reducing Size
I need some help reducing this picture:
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/5...kotears0ht.png to under 50kb. Can anyone help, or give me some tips? :D |
Your best bet is to either save it as a JPG or reduce the number of colours using an image editing application like The Gimp, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
Edit: I see you have transparency ... so reduced color PNG(~24kb) would be best... (heh, or the GIF Luffeh posted while I was distracted...) |

Wow, you guys are awesome, thanks.
How did you two manage to reduce the size? |
If you want to keep it transparent, save it as .gif and reduce the amount of colours until it's under 50kb's.
EDIT: ... Didn't notice that NightWish had edited his post. He explained the same thing already. x| Go me. By the way, Photoshop wouldn't let me change the amount of colours when saving the picture as a png. The only option I get is "Interlaced: Interlaced / None". Some reason for this? :o |
You need to save it as PNG 8 to change the number of colours, not PNG 24. ^^
Also, something that might be worth mentioning in this thread, in case anyone didn't know already: When you got to "Save For Web" in PS, there's an arrow next to the drop down list of presets; if you click it you have an option to optimise the image to a specific size, either using format you have selected or by letting it choose the best quality it can with GIF or JPEG. |
