Recomend me an anime please. (for adult)

Hello, this is the first time I have asked for recomendations,

I'm mainly looking for an anime that is not catered towards kids. Genre doesn't really matter but I'm not really into Mecha, I've tried and I just cannot get into it.
Im not into slice of life anime or love stories. If I want that I can get it in real life.

I have seen many series so I cannot list them all, but I will post what I have enjoyed watching and what I didn't enjoy watching.
I love the dark fantasy setting.
I think the best anime I have seen is FMA Brotherhood, because it just feels so complete and overall well done.
I cannot stand fillers, because they just arent well made.

Here is a list of what I have really enjoyed watching:

Death Note
Monster
Berserk
Claymore
Shiki
Shingeki no Kyojin
Full metal alchemist Brotherhood
Btooom
Jojo's Bizarre adventure
Stein's Gate
Shigurui - Death frenzy
Ghost in the shell
Psycho pass
Grappler Baki
Ninja Scroll
Cowboy Bebop
Yakitate Japan
Belzebub
Watamote
Gintama
Kuroko's basketball

Fate zero (was decent)
Elfen Lied (was decent)

As you can see im not that much into comedy but if it's well done like watamote I will enjoy watching it.

Series I don't like and why:

Naruto
(wasted potential because it got catered towards kids)

Bleach
(some awesome fights but I cannot recomend this to anyone because of really poor fillers and a terrible ending)

Zetsuen no tempest
(First season was amazing, but then they ruined it so bad that my jaw dropped to the floor)

Sword art online
(First season was pretty good but same as zetsuen no tempest, totally butchered it at the second season making it enjoyable for people who are 8 years old)

Gantz
(didn't like this because all the characters did was stand around paralyzed screaming, Oh noes! What do we do!!! Unable to act for the duration of the series)

Also I've seen most Crucnhyroll titles (I live in europe so I can only watch 50% of them) Unless they are listed here I didnt really like them.

So If your one of those people who genuinley think Sword art online is a good anime, then please don't post in my thread.

Sorry for any typos, english is not my native language.
Thanks for reading and hope I can get some good recomendations :)

domo arigato gozaimasu!

Edit : Madoka Magica ( I really didn't like this, I don't know why it is so popular, it had potential, but the fights didn't appeal to me)

I suggest

Ga-Rei zero (don't let the first episode fool you)
Jigoku Shoujo watch the first series and if you like it watch the other 2.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni First series was kinda butchered, but if you can get past that it's very well made story.

All the above are pretty dark themed anime.

If you haven't seen it already I also suggest Cowboy Bebop

and

Dennou Coil

I can't quite say for sure if you'll like them or not, they are certainly famous and generally well appreciated, but you seem to have odd tastes.

Thanks for those recomendations, Yes I have seen cowboy bebop and liked it alot,
I will edit that in.

The others seem very interesting and I will deffo check them out, thank you.

Shin Sekai Yori. The setting is dark and the plot execution is incredible.

Maui 2014-06-06 15:55

Shin Sekai Yori, Yes I started watching this when it was first released, and the execution is very well done but somewhere around episode 6 I lost a little bit of interest for it, It seemed abit too much like a fairytale meant for younger audiences.
However I will admit that it is really well done and I will consider picking up where I left. I totally forgot about this one :)

If you're okay with black and grey morality, I'd suggest Black Lagoon. Same studio as Monster, although Black Lagoon is a lot more action oriented and over the top.

The plot is roughly as follows:

A Japanese salaryman gets kidnapped by modern day pirates/smugglers/mercenaries while on business in the South China Sea. Turns out the disk he was carrying contains a dirty secret his company's higher ups doesn't want to leak out, so one of them hires a bunch of hardcore mercenaries whose objectives don't include retrieving said salaryman alive. After helping his kidnappers outwit their pursuers the salaryman ends up joining their "delivery company" and begins a new life in the fictional Thai city of Roanapur -a place where the world's criminals come to lock horns.

I've seen at least three series by the same director as Gintama, but since I haven't seen Gintama itself I'm not sure how much like it they are. Two of the three are also high school comedies, although neither one of them is particularly typical of that genre.

You didn't list kara no kyoukai so i would think that is a must see for your list. You may like Mushishi although it is a little slower in pacing, it just got a sequel after sooooo long. I feel you may like Kurenai as well.

edit: Some others you may like;
Afro Samurai
D. Gray-man
Ghost in the Shell(movie) and sequel/prequel
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (alternate setting tv series)
Hunter x Hunter - One of the best shounen in the vein of bleach/naruto with no fillers I can rememner and great character development/fight scenes

Absolutely Seirei no Moribito. It has everything you seem to be looking for, and it's a marvel of brilliant writing, direction, visuals and music. A true masterpiece.

Hmm...

I think you would really like Last Exile.

Other possibilities to look at:

Eden of the East
Katanagatari
Shiki
Mirai Nikki
Chrono Crusade
Neon Genesis Evangelion

SeijiSensei 2014-06-07 08:35

I haven't seen a recommendation yet for "Bake Neko" or its sequel Mononoke, so I'll toss them into the mix, along with very strong seconds for Moribito and Dennou Coil (yes, it has kids, but you should watch it anyway).

Some other shows that also feature adults:
Nodame Cantabile
Bartender
Hataraki Man
Usagi Drop
House of Five Leaves
Hyouge Mono
Mouryou no Hako
Mine Fujiko
Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiki Jikenbo

Many fine suggestions here thank you very much :)

Good call on Serei no moribito, I just started watching it (only 3 episodes in so far)
but it seems amazing. And very refreshing animation, they actually look human and not super cute. Me like :)

Will be checking out all the other recomendations,

Hontoni arigatou gozaimasu!!

Ironically, I'm exactly 3 eps into my latest rewatch. It's an effort not to play hooky and just marathon it. How about that fight in episode 3, eh?

Jazzrat 2014-06-08 15:43

Here's a few older ones since seinen/josei series that doesn't deal with slice of life or romance can be pretty rare.

a) Baccano!
b) Juuni Kokki
c) Mushishi
d) Sekai no Senki (Banner of the Stars)
e) Kino no Tabi

This post conatins spoiler of the very end of serei no moribito, so if you read this and didn't see the series yet. stop now. You were warned.

Yea, Don't mess with balsa :)

I finished it now, I marathoned it like I do with all series I like.
It was a very good! However I'm having a really hard time accepting the very end. After all that tension building, they just lift the egg out.... I was like whaaaaaaaaaat???? You gotta be frickin kidding me.
Looking past that I did really enjoy the series up until the 2 last episodes.

KholdStare 2014-06-08 22:52

I always recommend the 2 post-HS anime that I enjoy:

REC
Nodame Cantabile

They are both about music in some way. The first is about voice acting, and the second about classical music.

I also enjoyed Kimi ga Nozomu Eien but I realize it's not for everyone.

You probably didn't enjoy Madoka because it had middle schoolers acting like adults. Sayaka was the only one that acts her age, because she is actually flawed.

Why not put it in spoiler tags?

Highlight the text and click the spoiler button (yellow triangle with !) on the tool bar just above the text box.

We do love hearing what people thought of our suggests so please continue to come back and tell us what you though of the different series.

SeijiSensei 2014-06-09 08:27

So-called "BB code" looks like HTML but uses square brackets. You can create a spoiler with the button in the editor's toolbar or type [spoiler][/spoiler] tags. Then the text

[spoiler]this is a spoiler[/spoiler]

will appear as
Spoiler:

You can see a complete list of acceptable BB tags at the bottom of this page where it reads
"BBCode is On."

Fist of the North Star

An older dark action/adventure revolving around fictionalized martial arts in the post apocalyptic future. It has the manliest main character, and the manliest openings and endings.

I have to add that since you have watched Berserk and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure I am surprised you have not watched it yet. Since you like those, you will probably like it a lot.
