as for those pair ups, i reckon bandai is doing this new promotional scheme for the sake of the upcoming release of Akatsuki. well i ain't buying any of these anyway, saving up for the hi-nu (amuro's finest!) one of the most powerful gundams in UC

vakeyk2 2007-02-14 07:15

This just in folks, Gundam Side Base 1 now have new pics for the upcoming MG 1/100 Hi-Nu Gundam (pics of box art included). I would have post the pics here, but alas as usual my com's connection gives out unknown error messages.

Reminds me of the stunt Amuro pulled in the movie, ditching his Rifle and shield and going for kill at Gyuunei while still deploying his Fin Funnel Field
Looking at this, I wonder if I can do recreate that Scene...

well, i tried.....sighs

Just like to point out that the MG Hi-Nu box art is drawned by Yuji Kaida, renowed Monster Artist in Japan, who also did quite a bit of early MG Box Art. No wonder it's taking them so long to push it out.

It's quite a refreshing change from all the CG Box Art of Morishita.

More new pics at the Gundambase article, showing how utterly badass Hi-NU is:

It better be significantly cheaper than the individual kits, otherwise there's no point. I still wont buy the 1/100 SF and Destiny though, because to me they look like crap...

< disagrees.
Only the 1/100 SF was bad (really bad, and this is coming from an SF fan) but the 1/100 Destiny was REALLY good IMO. It stopped me from getting other kits because of that.

LoweGear 2007-02-14 09:59

IIRC wasn't the 1/100 Destiny once on a list of top selling toys and models a while back? It shows that the Destiny does have as much potential to sell as the S-Freedom does.

OMFG OMFG
THANK YOU FOR THE NEW PICS OF HI-NU!!!
OMG
*drools*
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Now, I'm really tempted to pre-order this..but I still would rather wait for dalong's review first.

Goddamn, those pics are quite amazing!

justsomeguy 2007-02-14 11:23

How does that Hi-Nu base fit the Gundam? I don't suppose it will work for the Nu Gundam, which looks wasted standing.

LoweGear 2007-02-14 12:35

As shown in the pics, the custom stand is inserted into the MG Hi-NU's back. For older model kits, that's what Bandai's Action Base is for: you can use it on older models like the MG Nu Gundam, which doesn't have pegs to accomodate the newer stands.

DarkWarrior 2007-02-14 12:44

Whoa nice, finally some Gundam Base pics. The boxart looks awesome, and it seems like the box itself will be somewhere around SF-FB's size. Damn the shipping is going to suck.

And blue beam sabers! :D It's odd though, Hi-Nu seems to have a beam dagger or something, which is smaller than a normal beam saber. Anyways, definitely on my to get list.

They are packed together because obviously the Destiny and Legend are not very good sellers.

Its a marketing ploy, of course. ;)

Too bad. The Action Base doesn't seem to accommodate fin funnels, nevermind that I have no idea how those can be attached.

Actually, IMO, I think it was just that the 1/100 SF just really sucked compared to 1/100 Destiny in terms of proportions. But then came the Master Grade SF....

I understand Legend, but how could've Destiny not have been a good seller?
There was a long era in which Destinies were always backordered or low stock in HLJ so I'd assume they were pretty popular outside Japan as well?

But everything in HLJ is back-ordered! They have a pretty website, but their shipping is always late.

While the Destiny may be an adequate seller, its nowhere near the popularity of its Kira(ian) counterparts :p

Then again, the same could be said about the Justice. Although I really don't particularly find the pairings to be... deserving.

It would be awesome if they came with a dual stand for both models so you end up with a semi diorama of the end fights.

LoweGear 2007-02-14 22:19

I think I'm the only one here who thinks the VS packaging for the "Big Four" are specials... here's a bit of proof:

Yeah, they're crystal versions.
