Witches never act directly in Higurashi (except for Bern talking to Akasaka and Miyoko once), so there's no reason to thing that they can affect the world rather than simply favoring certain events through the manipulation of the kakera. And there's only one witch we see in Higurashi, and if she weakened Hanyuu she'd be destroying herself. As for ΛΔ, she doesn't seem to care about Hanyuu.

Oishi brings it up in the manga of the Himatsubushi-hen. We see some more sonozaki family in Minagoroshi-hen chapter in anime, so trying to put faces to the names. Also in Watanagashi-hen game, says she has like ~9+ uncles in the TIPS section!

Wasn't it told in the anime? During the last episodes of Kai? If he is councilor Sonozaki, if not it wasn't him XD.

What makes you think there will be a third live movie? Those two question and answer arcs can make a fairly self-sufficient story, especially since Tsumihoboroshi-hen has fairly happy ending. Them having more answer arcs when they haven't covered any of the other question arcs might feel out of place.

Yeah, if they keep making more arcs after the whole syndrome issue is resolved then it'll make ratings go down, kinda like making more fillers after the main point of the story is finished. However, I feel something is missing and not satisfied with the ending. Maybe that's just me and it happens every time a series end.
