Ok, so they ended with Beato barging in Natsuhi's room. I question this choice as they could simply do that at the chapel, but well (super momentum break). But on the other hand, there is a LOT to cover for the last Ep2 episode.
Worldenddominator was used, but only when Gohda saw the goats.

Meanwhile, Beelzebub had a super high pitched voice, but it is still acceptable, (while I still can't help but think Asmo breathed toncrap of helium).
Gohda's VA was very good for the panicked performances, though the expressions and animations didn't follow that quite well.
Rosa was even more loathable than I first thought in the VN :heh:

I have no idea if it was my raw or something, but it seems they skipped the "There is no one hiding!" with Battler's despair galore. Actually, Battler has shown emotions here, but the lead up was a bit too brutal I think.

June 1983 2009-09-02 12:08

Wow, that's only how far they got? How on earth are they going to get through everything that is left next episode? D:

BakaOnna 2009-09-02 12:09

Yeah how are they going to cover the rest of the arc in 1 episode? There's still a good deal to cover. I thought they would end at least when the bodies were discovered.

Does this mean Ep2 is actually 7 episodes? Then what about Ep3 and Ep4? :uhoh:

That's what I think too. o__o ... So they need to rush a lot. D:

Has somebody the 2chan link?

UnknownBeast 2009-09-02 12:13

That's so weird...

We're all obviously fine of the pace being slow, but are we looking at a 3 arc season here?

Spoiler for 2chan link:

A question,
Spoiler for this episode:

MarthX 2009-09-02 12:25

Practically guaranteed that it's 26 episodes and they couldn't and wouldn't stretch the third arc that long.

Volcanic 2009-09-02 12:28

0_o They hardly covered anything...that's really messed up. Seriously, I expected them to at least get to the next two twilights...

Could we be looking at 7 episodes? We already got that first thing...unless they cram everything into the next episode (NOOOOOOOOOOO ;_; ) 7 episodes is good.

...Actually, this episode might be too slow...

(D8 They took out You are incompetent? Drat! That was my favorite! :heh: )

Marion 2009-09-02 12:36

No it's definietly six episodes - next episode is Back Rank Mate: following the trend of mates being the end of the arc. DEEN already hid the existence of a sixth episode at first, so unless they're hiding another episode (highly doubting that) then next episode concludes the second arc.

Which makes me sad, because it will be rushed. Unless they keep the tea party short, then it'll be okay...but we still have the ???...

Leinne 2009-09-02 13:00

If every episode was like this , me would be sooooooo happy
Loved Beato maniacal expressions and Battler's reactions, i liked a lot this episode

EDIT: Didn't anyone EVER notice that seasons are usuallly 12-13 episode long, and with 5-6, that would be just 11. I was hoping from the vert beginning 6-7-11. I could dream. They can do 5-7-7-7 if they skip the terribly interesting character development from ep4, not many people like it

bigemperor 2009-09-02 13:34

I really love this episode, world endominator was epic buuuuut they have a LOT to cover in only one episode, they will rush a lot

Spoiler:

MarthX 2009-09-02 13:38

Keep in mind that
Spoiler:
is very short.

Proto 2009-09-02 14:17

Can we worry about the next episode when the next episode comes and concentrate on the current one? Thank you :)

momobunny 2009-09-02 14:50

This episode was definitely one of my favorites. I must admit, the thought of cramming stuff into the next episode scared me... but just concentrating on this episode itself, I must admit that it was pretty good. The animation was MUCH better than in last week's (in my opinion anyway).

My favorite part was Beelzebub's introduction, I like her voice. :3

I think I'm going to rate this episode an 8 at least, but I'm going to wait for the subbed version before rating it.

Saerianne 2009-09-02 15:00

Gonna wait on subbed, but i liked it. :)
They have to cram a lot in the next ep, but that's already been discussed.
Hmm... Beelze's voice... i'm a bit iffy, but you know, can't do anything about it.
And can I just say that I love Ohara?
They missed out on some bits though... I guess they have to but I was looking forward to a certain red text.

I think it's a valid conversation topic. A lot of people haven't been able to watch it yet, so if they can't do a little speculation about what scenes will appear when, there isn't much else to post about for a day or so. Anyway, you've got a scrollbar for a reason.

Sterling01 2009-09-02 15:27

I'm surprised they cut the "Call me, Beato" scene

They'll have to add that in somewhere. Beatooo!
Hmm, I think Beezle's voice is more like what I imagined Asmo's to be, though it isn't bad at all.

Akuryou 2009-09-02 15:57

A good episode, really. Some stuff were cut, but the important and substantial were left, and that's what matters. Though Rosa's and Gohda's seiyuu work was really amazing.

The only thing I'm bothered is how DEEN underplays the novel's descriptions. When the group was feeling from the Golden Butterflies in the chapel, I imagined many, many more butterflies, and a wave of them. Same as when Beatrice and the goats enter Natsuhi's room- the VN says the room was turned into shades of gold, but in the anime, I can only see a dozen butterflies flying above the witch's furniture.

Regardless, really nice episode. They could've started it a bit earlier, but major props for worldenddominator in the end.

chronotrig 2009-09-02 16:37

This episode turned out very well. Could they have done better? Yes. Did they nail enough of it to make it work? Definitely.

As for pacing, I think they handled it as well as they could. Unlike EP1, they were able to stick in what they needed to without making things feel rushed, and only fully eliminating one scene I was sad to see go. I'm a bit worried about ep11, but we'll get there when we get there.

I agree. I'm liking the voice acting work in the series a lot and those two in particular did a pretty good job this time around. Even Maria's voice was alright, although in her case the creepy faces continue to be...overused.

This is certainly true, but then again there's no way to compete with those long, detailed descriptions and the power of imagination...at least not without twice the budget this adaptation probably has. :heh:

Yeah, I wished they had spent their time a little more wisely too, since that song is such a great listen.

Next week should be very interesting, provided that the studio doesn't stumble in the process. The current episode was nevertheless good enough for my tastes.

Marion 2009-09-02 16:53

Finished the raw.

Oh, us and our fangirling...

MarthX 2009-09-02 17:36

The call me Beato scene was during the first meta battle in the VN.

Pretty good episode. I like the part where Maria kiss Battler cheek. :D

I think those extra red texts have been removed. It's a loss, but given the time, they wouldn't have been able to fit everything good in.

Anyways, for a review:

NOOOOOOOOO. ;_;

My fangirly side is saaaad...that part makes me so happy when I read it in the VN...

...lol, they even took out You are incompetent. :heh:

serenade_beta 2009-09-02 18:48

Hand scene... It's been a while since I found this anime scary. (It's fine as a comedy too though...)
And then there were the goat (*huge laugh*) and moving key (funny, UmiNeko quality).
Though Beezlebub, huh... The only thing I can think of is the one in Night Wizard.

Goutaaaaaaaaaaaa! :T_T: It was fun while he was alive. With his panicking. :heh:

It's also been a while since Maria stopped making hilarious facial distortions and looked like a cute little girl for once. Well, she still made one or two this episode.

Phew... I was worried the sponsors would be dull again, but they reversed the scene at the end... :heh:
The flying words are hard to read and entertaining as ever though. (Just scroll them normally, animator...) Circling, flying... What's next... *goes to Powerpoint*

As interesting as ever. <--overall opinion

Christen 2009-09-02 18:58

I really liked Beelzebub's "OSHIMAI!" because it's so her.

Gohda also goes up in the good seiyuu list.

Beruko08 2009-09-02 20:10

hmm. I wonder if it's just me or beato's laughing scene has been more and more well-done recently while they're trying to reduce Maria's facial distortion scene...:heh:
Ohara has done a really good job at making Beato's laughing sound which fits to her face. But i wonder why they didn't show Beezlebub's full face, is it because she was supposed to be thrown through the door?

I think her laugh has gotten more insane sounding in the last couple episodes :heh: Definitely surpassing Satsuki-san's Shmion laugh.

No way! Shmion's was batshiz insane. ...Or maybe the atmosphere of the episodes made it creepier...

Oh yeah, this episode made me like GeoShan more for some reason. Maybe it was SUPER NOT-DORKY George and MOE MOE Shannon that did it...

Evy 2009-09-02 21:06

-Pacing was... slower than I imagined. I'm worried about next episode :uhoh:
-GOHDA WHY SO AMAZING
-Needs moar butterflies.
-The 'getting to Natsuhi's room' part wasn't how I imagined it at all. In the VN I thought the scene was incredibly tense and urgent, yet in the anime it had calmed down a lot. :eyebrow:
-Beato's cackle just keeps getting more and more epic.
-I squealed at the kiss on the cheek. whysocute ;;;
-lol, DEEN.

momobunny 2009-09-02 21:17

I find myself watching Beelzebub's part over and over again.
