I will say one thing against MSG and Zeta. Their stories are hard to follow. Lots of information is omitted. Lots of plot loops aren't well connected. Without spoiling much, it's safe to say Zeta's ending was terrible lol.

Enough about the shows. I think we should stick to the models.

I appreciate the new releases for each series. HG Wing, Victory etc... I hope they introduce some new kits. Build fighters is a blank canvas, in my opinion. It's not tied to anything, so they could have plot twists involving new kits. Using the show to promote new designs.

I can agree on that, zeta was so terrible i completely lost interest after 15 episodes i had to force myself to watch it so i could comment afterwards on how bad is actually is.
I can relate to peolpe being nostagic, but somethimes they forget reality. Transformers G1 has the same problem.

Back to models, build fighters has some neat ideas with existing models. Does improve most. I love what they did with the zaku amazing and the wing gundam. Always have been a strike fan, but the backpack is a little too much freedom, but it's okay. We'll see what they bring next.

I am just curious to see what mid-series upgrade Sei will do to the Build Strike Gundam. I mean technically the Full Package isn't really a new Gundam.

I'm guessing he'll go with the Strike Freedom as the base, have like Super Dragoon like weaponry, mega rainbow beam blast, stomach cannon, etc.

The anime has already fore shadowed that Build Gundam MK-II is the next suit.
Its even has "build" in the name, which is a Sei naming trait.

suiton629 2013-11-05 18:29

I was thinking about something..

You think that Bandai will do a MG Snow White as the 2.0 of the Wing Gundam Zero EW?

Its not going to be a sucessor though, its gonna be piloted by Reiji for one reason or another

Suiton suiton suiton........

HOW is a BRAND NEW kit from an unreleased mech design (no models for it) a 2.0 IF ITS A BRAND NEW UNIT?

More likely if its ever released it will be built off the latest WZEW frame (appropriate too)

Think man

@Ppl commenting on the UC and AU series:

Dont know about you guys but it was extremely easy for me to follow along with Zeta and 0079.......

I do agree that the 08th MS Team and 0083 were amazing, though they did have some questionable parts (like every show in existence does)

I would never call the AU series as "Ripoffs", they're "Homages", A ripoff is when someone completely unaffiliated with the material goes and take all the plot elements, similar characters, similar mechs, etc. However as Bandai is in possession of most everything Gundam, they make all the series have homages to the original 0079. Partly due to familiarity (easier to accept), and as sort of a trademark. Introducing new stuff is not always the best (eg 00 aliens, many saw it coming from S1, yet too many ppl hate it). IMO all these reasons is why BFs being received so well, it has new and old, and plenty or each, plus it aims at a popular hobby which many of the viewers enjoy.

I dont think we should go any further on this, as these discussions are not for the model thread

I'm never posting rumors here again... I just hope I'm not the one who caused this lol

Lesson in life: Rumors are never good to spread

Highschool sank that message in quite well lol (we all know how rumor infested and drama filled high school is right?)

If there's one thing disappointing about the main roster for Build Fighter lineup, it is that none of the suit, *pardon me for this*, makes me wet. I mean, sure it's great we get to see the X, Wing, Zaku and Strike in their customized form and they're all performing well and dandy against recognizable units like GP02, Justice and Freedom, but I sure as hell am wanting for something big and powerful. Something like the custom Qubeley, maybe a Xi Gundam/Hyper Zeta/Devil Gundam.

This makes for a more anticipated release, both anime and kit wise, as frankly, I am bored of building/seeing kits like the X, Wing, Strike and Zaku which have been animated/received figure/model kit forms so many times. They just don't have the badass appeal, cool yes, but badass, no. And judging by the 2nd place person using an RX-78-2, I won't be surprised if the champion used a Gouf or some "nostalgic" unit.

Maybe this is also because I wanna see a high skill and high spec battle, between elite fighters in the top tier bracket matchup. I wanna see sophisticated F1 races, not a skillful race-line perfection but stock car race. I mean it's cool that you can dominate using a well-made basic-tier unit but it's not as glitzy as winning in high stakes units, Nightingale and Hi-Nu, Ex-S and MK-V, Strike Freedom and Legend comes to mind. Perhaps it's still early in the show but with the upcoming World Tournament and us knowing 3 of the suits in it, Fenice, X Maoh and Zaku Amazing, I don't see it happening.

Appel 2013-11-06 06:31

The series has just barely started, I am sure we are gonna see some more powerful looking designs sooner or later^^

Maybe they just want to show that overpowerd suits are not teh only thing worth to see in the gundam universe. If not Wing zero or strike freedom would win just about anything.

Personally i love updated special variants of more down to earth suits. I love special versions of canonfodder. Mage things a bit more realistic. Not that gundam build fighters has alot of realism in it...but it's fun to watch.

Are there any modelers from Singapore here? May I ask where I can find the hobby shops there? I'll be staying there for a week so I might as well try and find some kits/tools with good deals.

StratoSpear 2013-11-06 08:14

You may want to give Sunshine Plaza a visit. IIRC, there's a Gunpla shop there that sells most old and current kits, including a number of handy tools and custom decals. Markers included.

You'll know you've found the right shop once you see an entire shelf of customized Gunpla (I shit you not) at the storefront.

Hope this helps ^^

If you're lucky, you may also find some exclusive/rare kits there too. Last time I went there, I found an ANA-scheme Gundam Unicorn Destroy Mode sitting on the shelf. (Once again, I shit you not)

I'm from Singapore and there's many local Hobby Stores around. The best ones in terms of selection variety, tools and price is Hobby Art:

https://www.facebook.com/HobbyArtGallery

Quote:

Scale modeling haven for Gundam junkies. Find us at: 91 Bencoolen Street, Sunshine Plaza #01-44, Tel: 6334-5340 (Open Tue-Sun, 1-7pm), AND 12 Arumugam Road, Lion Building B, #06-04. Tel : 6743 8233 (Macpherson MRT (CC10) Exit B) (Open everyday 12-8pm)

Hobby Art Gallery -or H.A.G. (opens 1-7pm, Tue-Sun) for short- is a scale modeling shop based in Singapore specialising in Gundam model kits. We also have a second and bigger branch - Hobby Art @ Work, located at Macpherson (opens 12.30-8pm everyday).
They're also coming up with a 40% anniversary sale this weekend I believe, and that oughtta satisfy your Gunpla addiction, from PG scales, EX Models, to MG, RG HGUC and SD. Series range from UC, SEED, 00 and AGE. There's even Valrave and Macross kits stocked up.

If you were to go to the Sunshine Plaza branch, there's also another model hobby shop, more catered for armoured vehicles and planes, called "M Workshop". There's an abundant of spray cans selection by Tamiya and Mr Hobby, modelling tools and accessories here.

For those who prefer the comfort of shopping malls, you may find our retail outlets at BHG, Takashimaya and OG at the shopping district of Orchard Road to also store Gunplas, albeit at slightly higher costs.

If you want Robot Damashiis, you may find selections at Plaza Singapura's 6th floor. There's even some shops at Funan DigitaLife Mall.

However, please note that prices here, while cheaper than our neighbours in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, aren't comparable to the cheaper ones in Hong Kong, Taiwan and of course Japan.

PS: If you're into Tamiya -

Tamiya's Singapore showroom is located at:
178 Paya Lebar Road
#01-03 Paya Lebar 178
Singapore 409030
Tel.: +65-6746-2168

My personal recommendation is to spend a day and go to:

[1] Macpherson Lion Building B and enjoy the quieter and larger selection
[2] Head over to Dhoby Ghaut and visit Plaza Singapura and Sunshine Plaza.
[3] End it at Orchard to see the night shopping district while visiting the major shopping center to gawk at Gunpla boxes.
** If it's a Saturday/Sunday noon, you may try the anime/Gundam/comic flea market at China Square Central in Raffles Place. You'll never know what gem you can find. I bought a MISB GFF Hyaku Shiki for 40 bucks.

Thanks guys, it's good to know that valvraves and macross kits are also available.:D I am also grateful for you adding addresses to shops that sell military kits as well. It seems I'm gonna need a fatter wallet filled with cash now.:heh:

suiton629 2013-11-07 10:56

You know, I was looking at the pictures of the HG X Gundam and HG X Divider Gundam and I just noticed that the plastic Bandai used is different colors.

Well, then I guess that it's more like 99% chance that the MG X Gundam will not come with X Divider parts, and instead we'll see that and the Double X later as separate kits.

Now that I think of it, X Divider MG sounds like a likely candidate for Bandai's online exclusive line...
