LOL The Gouf is riding a Whitz Tiger. I wonder if he'll do Huang long?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but this question is in regards to painting my mobile suits. Is it better to use acrylic paint or enamel paint for the clear components of the 00 line of model kits?
I know Tamiya makes clear paints and I beileve they were acrylic paint and not enamel. So I think its acrylic.
I use Tamiya Acrylic Paint They have clears too that I use for the head jewl and the green orbs on 00 let me know if u need the color codes im not near my box of stuff
My post was actually a bit premature. The Tamiya USA site apparently doesn't ship to Canadian residents and thus, no paint for me. I'm looking around for another source, but if anyone knows a reliable one then please feel free to let me know. It'd be quite appreciated.

Those should work just fine. I know someone who used tamiya's clear and it worked great. If you add the thinner with the clear paint you might need to do a second lair on the part, cause it kinda runs off. I know someone who added the thinner with the clear paint.

You could try ebay, some other stores may be selling them. That's where I get some of my stuff.

Try for 1:1 ratio between paint and thinner. Dip the end of your brush into the paint and then rinse in a jar of unused water. You can gauge whether its the correct mix you want this way from how clear the water is after you have dipped the paint into it. It will take 2-3 layers of paints to get a good effect so take your time. Another reason for acrylic paints is that it's much easier to correct any mistakes than with enamel paints, which you will have to resort to stripping the paint. With acrylics paint just wipe with the thinner. And don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out as you wanted at first. I thought the effect was poor too at first until I assembled the entire model. The clear parts turned out really well, especially the red forehead crystal. Hope this helped. |

I reckon all the GN Drive equipped units would be better if they equipped a raiser system onto each....
But none of the others would have the same use for it that the twin-drive-equipped 00 has.
Also, I wonder if anyone has tried to modify their HG Arios to let it mount the HG 0 Raiser, to mimic that art? (I wonder where the parts which ordinarily comprise the Arios' nosecone/claws in MA mode - the GN Bean Shields - are supposed to be on that Arios Raiser... or is the 0 Raiser's main hull intended to take its place in MA mode?) |
