The parts of the original 1/144 HG Duel is in there, with improvement made to the waist as par all the other 1/144 HG Stargazer kits, minus the Assault Shroud which had been replaced by this new armour.

Not a bad kit though.

Great scratch build. :) It even looks like there are sprue marks on some of the scratch built parts. :eyebrow:

It looks too bulky to me

Which is what I often wondered... with that amount of armour, she should have had sufficient time to bail out when her Gundam went down. The Blue Duel's armour would have been able to hold on while she ejected... :heh:

Considering that she was getting stabbedstabbedstabbed but it still took a while for the beam fangs to penetrate all the way to the cockpit it seems that the armor is rather wicked, and she just panicked.

And I like Blu Duel. It manages to have an air of sleekness while still looking bulky, I like that. The only thing I dislike is that the pistol holsters are too big. Other than that the model seems to have the same engineering quality and posability as the Powered GM. Poor Lightning Edition :heh: .

It didn't enhance the kit, in fact, it made the Strike Freedom look ghastly!

Sety 2006-09-08 07:15

Ugh...S-Freedom looks awful enough as a model, even those amazing custom jobs only look decent at best just because S-Freedom is that ugly. Lightning Edition just took what was already ugly and made it hideous.

Traks 2006-09-08 07:17

I am not much a fan of the lights for Strike Freedom Lightening Edition, but Bandai did make major improvements on the proportions for the Strike Freedom. If you give the kit a good coat of paint for the part you do not want to light up and only clear coat, or candy paint, certain parts that you would want to light up (i.e. eyes and helmet lens), I'd say you would have a good looking model. Given, without the lights Bandai could have dropped the price about $30US and probably sold more kits to broad range of people, but then Bandai probably already had a demographic of who they wanted to sell the kit to.

Personally, I would have like to have seen Bandai release a master grade kit of the Strike Freedom before they released the 1/60 Lightening Edition.

Personally I would like them to release a MG kit of Hi-Nu before re-releasing all these CE kits. Or even revive the Gundam X/Turn-A line of models. At least we're finally getting a MG Crossbone so theres alot of hope, if they spent more time making higher quality models then these horrible 3 part snap together and gimmicky CE models they've saturated the market in everyone would be much happier.

Or even better yet....if they want to spam more CE models, howabout they reprint MG Freedom? One of the few models they got right of CE era besides PG Strike and its always out of stock or overly inflated expensive.

On a off note, can anyone tell me hows the quality on the 1/100 Gold Frame Amatu? Is it anywhere near as good as the 1/100 Blue Frame Second L? Blue Frame was one of the few 1/100 HG's that have impressed me as of late in terms of posability, sturdiness and detail.

duotiga 2006-09-08 08:56

quality of 1/100 Gold Frame Amatu is way better and Sturdier than Blue Frame 2nd L ;) Detail wise is pretty accurate i would say......

duotiga 2006-09-08 09:05

a comparison

I would have to agree, a MG Hi-Nu would be a great kit to have, even though I have the Core-works conversion in my backlog (Nice kit but the helmet seems smashed in). Though, the comment about the release of the CE kits, there have been 22 UC MG kits that have been released since 2004 compare to the 4 CE kits that have been released according to Penetrate

Also, depending on where you get you models from, the PG Strike is adequetly priced seeing that it is a newer model, that is priced less than the PG MKII at HLJ. And besides, the HGUC in my opinion, is booming with kits.

As far as the 1/100 Gold Frame Amatu, it was built off the red frame, not sure if that helps. Here is some pics of it from http://www.dalong.net/. To me, there is too much black and gold to see all the things the kit has going on for it. I think if the kit was in another color you could appreciate the outlines of all the weaponry it has, though my fave out the Astray line is still 1/100 Blue Frame Second L. :)

P.S.- I'm glad I held out for the MG Crossbone ( It looks like a great kit), I just wish it came with the Shot Lancer or the Peacock smasher.

Sure enough, all of them are resin kits that can come out to be larger than your average 1/60 scale PG models. Too much for my taste, hell thats a car payment.
