risingstar3110 2010-07-03 07:10

My favourite votes go to Yuri and Kanade (Hinata, Shiina and Noda were close, but not there).

Then consolation votes for Yusa, Irie, Sekine and the evil clones ;_;

PS; Thank there Pellissier... an AS series without a favourite character poll does not feel 'completed' ^^

zette 2010-07-03 07:11

Yay, it's here! Voted for:

Kanade - I think she will probably get the most votes in this poll. I just have a thing for characters that initially show no emotion whatsoever but begin to slowly change that demeanor as a result of their interactions with the other characters. It's also really sad to see her so lonely during the first half of the series with the whole SSS rebelling against her, so much so that you just wanna give her a hug. She's also really adorable and that's never a bad thing.

Yui - I really like her hyperactivity, even more so when the reason for that was revealed. It was a sad life indeed; she could not do the things she wanted -- playing in a band, playing baseball or soccer, anything that required much movement of the body -- just because of a tragic car accident, and due to that, she ended up living an unfulfilled life and found her way to the afterlife. It was nice seeing her in ep10 finally being able to do the things she's always wanted to, and also finally finding love, although it wasn't nice seeing her go.

T.K. - Get chance and luck. That is all.

I like Yuri and Yuzuru as well, but not so much that I would consider them my favorite characters of the series, so they didn't get my vote.

Also, Pellissier, you misspelled 'Otonashi' there.

kitten320 2010-07-03 08:47

Now I will have hard time picking... I have about 7-8 characters I like... do you think I should limit it to smaller number?

DarkWish 2010-07-03 08:51

Kanade - no words needed
Yuri - was good to see her emotional side in the last ep
Yusa - dont know but i somehow like her ^^
Iwasawa - because...

BloodyKitty 2010-07-03 09:26

TK: Look at my avi and sign :D.

Kanade: Seriously if it hadn't been for her, I couldn't have picked this anime in the first place.

Hinata: I usually have a thing for happy-go-lucky guys but totally don't just exist for comic relief like him.

Otonashi: I really love main characters that have personalities like him. His backstory moved me as well.

Yuri: Just after how much she showed her great abilities as a leader, I couldn't help taking some likings to her.

Kotohono 2010-07-03 10:25

Yuri: Probably my favorite female character in recent anime, since Hitagi. Plus she showed herself to be a great leader, whom always gave thought to the situations they face. So obvious to vote for her.

Hinata: Episode 10; I don't think I need to say more :p.

Yui: I liked her cuteness, craziness :uhoh:, and hyperactivity, and even more so like others when her past was revealed. I had feeling I'd enjoy her character since her first conversation with Otonashi in episode 3, and I was right :).

Shiina: Ever since her weakness for cuteness, and the broom balancing Scene, I've rather liked Shiina.

Hatsune: While she didn't have a lot of time in the series, I liked her since she was the always positive type despite being in the hospital for over a year, and she had an important role.

Also gave consolation votes to the 4 original girls of GDM since I doubt they'll get that many. Close Characters, but not quite my favorites Otonashi, Yusa, and Kanade.

Haak 2010-07-03 11:43

Yuri - She's just an awesome leader. Very strong and has lots of courage.
Kanade - To be honest i though her as pretty average until the end of the last episode when her past was revealed.
Otonashi and Hinata - They're both easy to relate to. Otonashi's funny because he lets his imagination get away with him and Hinata is funny because of his snarkiness and game talk in the Light novel.
Yui - Best. Genki Girl. Ever.
Shiina - Best. Ninja. Ever.
Iwasawa - Pretty damn cool. The ballad was amazing.
Noda-For being so God damn hilarious.

momobunny 2010-07-03 13:39

Cackerjacks! I only voted for Yusa... I meant to vote for Sekine and Irie too...

Archon_Wing 2010-07-03 15:28

Kanade-- because she's just completely win. Her moe is obviously over 8000
Yuri-- just for being such a great competent leader
Otonashi-- For providing us with amusing situations
Hinata-- Best friend ever
Yui-- She's very jumpy and cute, yet never that annoying.
Shiina-- "How shallow minded"
TK-- GET CHANCE AND LUCK
Yusa-- That scene where she trips that guy is like 101% win.

GreatTeacherKen 2010-07-03 17:07

Kanade- because I think she's one of the better developed characters. She's also the most adorable especially once we get to know her better in the later episodes.

T.K.- Although he's a minor character with little plot importance, he steals every scene he's in because he's the quirkiest character in a cast full of quirky people. I also think it's funny that he almost never stops moving; there are very few moments in the series where he stands completely still.

Reinako 2010-07-03 18:50

My votes went towards Kanade, Yuzuru and Iwasawa.

First, I liked Kanade because she developed as a character throughout the series and she had no intention of being evil. She was quite adorable in many situations and was proved to be quite helpful, especially towards the end. Although we didn't really get to learn her backstory, it was still great to get to know her better.

I chose Yuzuru because he was a very helpful protagonist that never gave up in any situation (!) and he also was quite funny at times, but overall, just a fantastic character that you don't usually find in many series. I admired his courage and his perseverance.

Iwasawa was a quiet character, but I just loved how she was a kind character throughout her time. She was a lovely leader and people admired her as the band leader and as a great person. I loved the songs that she sang and she just proved to be a fantastic person.

I also meant to vote for Shiina also, but I guess I forgot. Of course, the number of lines she has in the series can be counted on our fingers, but she was a very great person who tried to help all she could. Being a ninja just makes her so much more awesome. :3

Arbitres 2010-07-03 19:29

Noda - He is an incredibly loyal person, and unconditionally affectionate to Yuri. He wields my favorite weapon - A halberd. His weapon of choice and the scene following (the 100-die combo one, if I have to be specific) immediately made him my favorite character.

TK - By far the most interesting and catchiest character I've seen in a long, long time. His character goes above and beyond eccentric and hits comical from time-to-time.

Shiina - Regardless of her lack of screentime, she got my attention every time she showed up. One of the things I like about her is she tries to make up for her failures. An example is her balancing a broom on her fingertip so she could increase concentration.

Iwasawa - Cool and level-headed is what I like most. Since she was able to disappear very early on, she still makes it on my list because how emotional and moving her songs were. All and all, she is an awesome character.

Naoi - A lot of people may dislike him for his arrogant and God complex, but I sincerely like him because of how symbolic he is. The situations he cause are humorous. (Example: Clothespin.) His cool but arrogant yandere attitude is a plus as well.

That's it for me.

Khu 2010-07-03 20:05

Tachibana Kanade: We need a reason for this? She's the catalyst for everything, almost.

Nakamura Yuri: For being the first to realise what had happened. In spite of her thinking everyone's 'stupid', she's pretty smart, loving (obviously) and courageous. As was said on her graduation certificate: "For showing the greatest dedication in the Battlefront"

Otonashi Yuzuru: He moved us along. And for once, he was the only sane one too. He made sure everyone had left before he did, almost putting him with the same qualities of Yuri, just with some more romance added. ;)

kitten320 2010-07-03 21:05

Alright I have limited myself to 6 characters or otherwise I would have voted for half of them.

Kanade
- I think it is obviouse, she probably was the most interesting character for me. The way she was changing over the series was entertaining and her fighting skills are beyond aweasome. She simply wn.

Iwasawa - I can't really explain why... she just caught my attention despite appearing only in first 3 episodes. The way she dissapeared also was probably the most saddest for me.

Yuri - a really good balanced character who isn't over powered yet strong. Who is smart, a good leader and is able to feel sorry and apologize for her wrong actions.

TK
- each time he opened his mouth, I loled. His phrase with "eyes" was my favorite when he was fighting shadows. Such a pity that he was treated as no one in the series.

Shiina - another un-appricated character by anime creators. She has strengh and sometimes her actions are really funny and I was so curiouse to see her past :(

Yusa
- for tripping the guy at the stage.

serenade_beta 2010-07-04 00:04

TK, because he was the only one that really mattered. So... pointless like a lot of characters, but he stands out so much and has so much charisma. For some reason.

2-D 2010-07-04 08:07

Noda, ultimate badassery.

Newhope 2010-07-04 09:04

Shiina and Tk both funny as hell and still managed to grab my attention despite not having much screen time would have loved seeing there pasts.

Saying that Angel beats probably one of the best casts i've seen in along and most of them where criminally underused.

AC730 2010-07-05 05:30

Tachibana Kanade:
Her seiyuu, Kana Hanazawa was the main reason I chose this watch this basically. And she didn't disappoint. The mystique of Tenshi and then Kanade just made her more appealing as a character with her small and cute design.

Otonashi Yuzuru:
A powerful backstory, believable character and the one person that opened up the most. He was the driving main character in this anime and showed good development. Also his seiyuu, Hiroshi Kamiya was extremely convincing. Top notch stuff.

roankun 2010-07-05 09:01

O.O
I didn't see TK when I voted... T~T

Anyway, chose Tenshi and Yuri. Because. ^^

I would have chosen Otonashi, too, but the ending... the ending... the... ending...

DragoZERO 2010-07-05 09:58

Otonashi for me. And not because he is the protagonist but because he was a great character over all. He gave us comedy, action and drama.

Ice Block 2010-07-05 10:05

Generally liked all the characters, but here's a vote for the Track Zero crew:

Yuri - good, clever, observant, understanding and hardworking leader

Hinata - Yuri's loyal right hand man and emotional support; a man who never breaks his promises

Ooyama - [normal comments for a normal person]

Chaa - extremely capable badass; the catalyst of the rebellion. As Yuri said, they wouldn't have been able to do anything without him.

Noda - "I, Noda, shall become your sword."

Shiina - able to hold a rather long (possibly endless) stalemate against Kanade in a 1v1; the most exceptional combat-oriented asset of the SSS

Traece 2010-07-05 10:13

My biggest surprise looking at this list is that not everybody voted for T.K. Hah, I really did expect to see a big huge bar that beat out all the other characters! I guess a lot of the people here don't like to bust a move.

But in all seriousness, Otonashi and Kanade really made the show interesting, and Yurippe also did a pretty good part. After having gone through all of this, it's evident that putting most of my interest in Otonashi and Kanade really was the right choice, though personally I with Yurippe hadn't been so forgotten throughout.
Oh, and I voted for T.K. of course. Unfortunately, I can't dance quite like that. :(

Eater of All 2010-07-05 17:45

I need to get rid of this habit of voting in polls before reading the opening post; I voted solely for Yui because I thought I could only pick one. :(

So, uh, let's pretend I voted for four characters instead.

Otonashi: "Brotonashi" is an apt nickname for him: a person willing to sacrifice himself to help others survive and move on should earn anyone's respect. Of all the characters, Otonashi is also the most developed, going from some dude with no goal in life to being able to step up and become a doctor. As for the ending... no doubt it's a very debatable topic for many, but I personally found that it made Otonashi seem even more human-like. Despite being portrayed as almost a saint, an act of selfishness reveals that, at heart, Otonashi is still a human who has his own wants and desires. I'm sure we can all relate to that.

Yuri: Strong-willed, steadfast, and charismatic, Yuri earns my respect by bravely fighting against fate with an inspiring determination.

Tenshi: I'd eat her if you know what I mean.

Yui: I love the fact that Yui's genkiness is actually justified (i.e. not just there because for the sake of having a genki girl). She's cute without being annoying, and is overall a very lovable character.

kitten320 2010-07-05 21:38

Actually nowadays all polls seem to be multiple choice, duno why people always confuse them for single

Kudryavka 2010-07-06 01:11

Huzzah, the poll we have pined for since episode 1 is here!

Went ahead and voted for everyone except dummy Halberd Dude and the Un-Hot Glasses Guy. Well, everyone except Yuri's right hand girl and GirlDeMo (though I voted for Yui-nyan and Iwasawa) and the one-time apperance folks. I almost didn't vote for Naoi Riki, but his weird thing with Yuzuru sold me on it.

And Hinata has some serious sanpaku eyes. Methinks he's too stressed. :heh:

Auron Requies 2010-07-06 08:25

Voted almost everyone except Evil Tenshi and other

As far as I can tell from looking at all the story material (manga and novels included), I loved the cast, simply because everyone of them had something that helped defined their character/individuality.

But one of the best aspects would be the gags, I mean, hell, even Otonashi, who is one ofmore reasonable and a straight man character, has the constant gag of overthinking the operation names and letting his imagination run wild eg. Angel's FINAL ASSAULT was (imo) the best one! I swear that's the direction Angel Beats should have squeezed in more XD

(might add my wall of text for each character if I bother)

cutechocopockiikissu 2010-07-06 16:22

gaspie, char poll 4 angel beats?! banzai!

and also, i vote 4 tenshi, i lurv her. I also vote 4 yui cuz shes so kawai~, and otonashi and hinata and naoi cuz thats a hot yaoi tringle. :naughty: Happy vote!

kitten320 2010-07-06 20:45

Wow... Yui is 2nd popular? One vote above Yuri, the main heroin? I'm really suprised.

I thought about voting for Yui too but decided to limit my list.

Kudryavka 2010-07-07 00:36

Now Yui and Yuri are tied. Kanade's still leading the pack, of course.

touge-n00b 2010-07-07 05:06

Yuri, because while she proved to be a great leader, she was still a normal girl when all is said and done.

And Iwasawa, well because she was cool Iwasawa, and she was an awesome singer.

ninja_pintu 2010-07-07 14:50

Whether he was right or wrong, otonashi gets my vote for making Yui popular:heh:

Do not be surprised with online poll (especially those with heavily shippings).
Don't believe me? You can check who voted who there, it's quite a clone war always ;)

Well Yuri is winning now, so I think we need to wait until there is a bigger gap to say which one of them is really the 2nd popular :p.

kitten320 2010-07-08 08:28

Still Yui is very close for someone who appeared only in like episode 4 and dissapeared in episode 10.

Actually her real appearance was the third episode, and she could be seen, but not heard in the first episode :p.

Raiza Sunozaki 2010-07-08 14:32

Kanade: I love Maeda's main female characters. Kanade especially. Something about her quiet, composed, yet incredibly caring self made me fall for her. So much in fact, that the explosion of emotion from her in the final episode took some getting used to.
Yuri: Strong-willed, a great leader and a wonderful centre character. I didn't fall for her like I did Kanade, but I undoubtably loved her place in Angel Beats!.
Yuzuru: This man's a hero. You may not be able to find anyone like him in real life, but that doesn't detract from him being an awesome human being. Plus, he played a great Tsukkomi to all the Boke in the SSS.
Hinata: Best. Bro. Ever. No questions asked. This guy was the second-most awesome guy in all of Angel Beats! (yes, beating out Yuzuru). He was funny, played the idiot, but was also a dependable character and a great friend. I loved him nearly as much as I loved Kanade. Plus, him and Yui were adorable, though more development would've been nice. Yuzuru should be grateful for having such an awesome best friend.
Yui: These kind of characters go two ways for me: I either end up hating them or loving them. I loved Yui. Energetic, completely oblivious to her own stupidity, kind yet cruel (to Hinata) and behind that all, someone just wanting to live her life freely.
Shiina: The dependable Shiina, strong, with one crucial weakness: cute things. Such a typical character design, yet so incredibly entertaining.
TK: Should I even bother explaining why? He was the most awesome male in Angel Beats!, despite his lack of character development. Eccentric, Engrish-spewing (though it mostly seems to be from songs) and a wicked dancer, TK was, well, TK. And that's why.
Noda: Something about Noda entertained me to no end. Maybe it was his massive stupidity, the only thing larger being his confidence. Maybe it was his dedication to Yuri, an obvious infatuation. Maybe he's just awesome.
Matsuhita: Generally, I enjoyed his character, but his last-minute appearence in episode thirteen was incredibly amusing to me, as well as his massive weight loss which made him actually quite handsome.
Naoi: In truth, he annoyed me for the first three episodes he showed up in. Even his hug with Yuzuru didn't leave an impression on me. But he grew on me, and his scene when fighting the shadows, where he walked in dual-wielding handguns, shooting like he was some gangster amused me to no end. And by the end of the series, I felt for him when he ascended.
Yusa: Most under-developed character in the entire series. She deserved way more. Maybe I've got a thing for the quite girls, eh Kanade?
Irie and Sekine: In my opinion, you can't talk about one without talking about the other. These two had a brilliant possible relationship, only to be ruined by a lack of development. One of the things I can't forgive about the lack of time.
Saitou: This guy. The only real reason I find him so awesome is because he leaps ten to fifteen metres into the air, just to catch a fish.
Evil Tenshi: The first hints at a Kanade with emotion, my idea of the Evil Tenshi will be forever tainted by the one idea I had of her running after Kanade crying "oneesama~!"

Calca 2010-07-10 18:31

TK: There really isn't a reason to explain. Anyone who watched this show should know why.

The Eternal Hijacker 2010-07-13 14:07

Kanade: She is simply too awesome and adorable to describe in words right now...

Yui: She might be too annoying and energetic at first, but one you the true rationale, she is quite lovable.

desirebluesky 2010-07-13 16:34

TK and Matsushita 5-dan. i also liked Iwasama and Yui. of course i loved Otonashi and Kanade too. :heh:

TK really stole the show for me though, i wish he had some real character development instead of beeing just a random funny guy.

GET CHANCE AND LUCK!
