Hey sorry if this has already been asked before, but can anyone give me reccomendations of what tamiya colors i should use for my MG Freedom. I'm currently thinking about XF : 1,2,3,4,7,8,54. and X : 22. Any other suggestions. I'm still not sure if i just use the sticker for the eyes. I know i missing the greenish gray color but i couldn't really identify that one. If you would reply^^.

PS It's because I cant read the japanese paint guide that came with the model >.>

edit: Forgot to ask. Do you guys primer your models.
I used to build models and I've built around 5 gundam models before but never really wanted to paint them until i got this. So I know how to paint. I've jsut generally never heard of people priming their models on this forum.

GameraBaenre 2006-05-10 23:56

I prime all my models.

The_Marshal_AEB 2006-05-11 00:39

I rarly prime my models, but I do sanding always rather I'll prime or not, anyway if you didnt prime you'll have to do like 2 or 3 coats of color

sylharion 2006-05-11 06:13

hi everyone, just wanted to ask those of u with an akatsuki model, how did u get the gold coat off ? i tried with sum product form a dairy but in the end it melted the whole thing so i like lost my money :( , so can any1 suggest me a name or a type of product to use, cos i ve been to a model shop and they said that it i use sum product it will damage the plastic. thanks

OmegaZEROCustom 2006-05-11 11:18

I've used 2 products to strip chrome off my models. When I did my Akatsuki, I used teh Castrol Super Clean product that GameraBaenre has suggested in the past, which worked great. I've also used a bath of 409 to strip off some remanants that didn't release while in the Super Clean, as well as having used it to remove the paint from a few parts I botched recently. I actually use the Wal-Mark knockoff 409, which is their purple All-Purpose Cleaner and it works just as good as 409 IMO.

sylharion 2006-05-12 06:56

can you tell me what kind of product they are, as i m in new zealand so i probly wont have the same name, but i might find the same type of product. cheers also where there any thing like weaker areas of the model due to the use of the product ?
cos ive used a house cleaner first and i noticed that the plastic tend to become more fragile

The_Marshal_AEB 2006-05-12 10:35

I think its for floor cleaning and I havn't used it before hope someone else gives a better answer...

Just noticed the Gyan is the 90th MG, so 91 must be you know what. :D

The_Marshal_AEB 2006-05-13 14:45

If that's true I think itll be sooo cool to release the F91 on the same number of MG releases :D

Given that #78 was the RX-78 OYW and #87 was Zeta V2.0 and the recent rumors of F91 there is a good chance of #91 being it.

The F-91 has been rumored to be the next MG kit. And the next MG kit, whatever it may be, will be the 91st MG kit, so...

Thanks but I dont need such a damages like this O_O I wanted light damages to keep with the Operation Fully Weapons, that dom is more damaged and there are models of much damages than that so it depends on the diorama story at the end :D

Hi
I mean when you do the damage mod you would need to highlight and apply different colour to those damaged area. Don't think Gundam mecha would have the entire frame in the same color as the outer painting?
Maybe it is since I never wtched AC stuff nor into any of seeds

Shinji103 2006-05-14 22:48

Personally, I think damage mods look cool and are interesting, but I'd never do that to my models. :heh:

Nesty 2006-05-15 01:50

that is one crazy and very sick SD amatu T_T i want it!!!!

not sure when i'll touch on doing dmg on my mechas either >_>

Yeah, I just got my shipping notification from Rainbow 10. Can't wait for it to get here.

Akyra 2006-05-15 07:01

Woohoo...now the wait for that to arrive from HK...prolly delay the shipment till Legend comes out...double the excitement then!

But why a purple stand?!

duotiga 2006-05-15 07:26

well...strike freedom is blue stand, destiny is red stand...so infinite justice is purple?

The_Marshal_AEB 2006-05-15 08:20

Its fits, and maybe a dark grey one for Legend :p

Am expecting to receive couple of new HGUCs (Z based), MG 78-2 CA and a 1/1 keroro tomorrow, this whats it called "cant wait" :p plus my preordered Gyan and meers rah

duotiga 2006-05-15 08:43

1 thing fd they corrected frm previous justice backpack is.....it can move up!!!!! just like the anime!!!! lol

Akyra 2006-05-15 09:13

I woulda thought I Justice would have a green stand or something, to match Athrun's eyes?...

The_Marshal_AEB 2006-05-15 15:00

you can say green to match the lines on torso ... BUT asuran eyes :S !!!!! how are we suppose to see asuran around the model anyway

SNT1 2006-05-15 15:27

By the way, Out of Stock already on HLJ....

I hate the knee design, it requires too much masking ._.

(talking about this)
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i155/SNT1/mask.jpg

how do you guys work your way around painting this?

JanthraX^ 2006-05-15 16:44

im just wondering if nay1 has used this company for gundam models before

http://www.mech-a.com/shop/index.php...e56549249c21c2

if they are any good, prompt, good with returns etc?

Paint the "knee" and mask it off before snapping on the "thigh" and the "leg"

Well by ways of induction, the stand for Destiny is red (Shinn's eyes), and SF is blue (think Kira's eyes are blue...or was it purple)...eh...NVM...i think i just have a thing against purple. Lolz :heh: But nonetheless...a stand is a stand...

Hmmm, also, dun think they are going to include those "action parts" this time for IJ...

SNT1 2006-05-16 01:06

I'm thinking of something that may help me avoid masking that...

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i155/SNT1/mask2.png

If I snap one of the PC(C) in the knee inside the D9 and D10, then try to connect the C19 and the C18 parts through the PC(C) inside the upper leg, it might be avoidable to mask. That of course comes with a cost of not being able to putty the seam in the knee, but I doubt it will hardly be visible anyway....

duotiga 2006-05-16 06:50

This Zeta is nice!!!!!
