I seen a few of them at sun coast while at the mall last week.

just wondering.......

I think I confused you based on the way I phrased what I said. I bought the 1/60 Striker Weapons System kit and built the Aile Strike. Then a few months later, I got my hands on 2 of the plain 1/60 Strike with rifle and shield and no backpacks, and since the original plain one is the exact same one the Striker Weapons System set comes with, so with those 2, I attached the Sword and Launcher Strikers.

So I didn't mean that I had 2 of the plain ones BEFORE they released the SWS set, just that I later picked up two of the plain ones that had been released before the SWS was.

The W-Zero is almost the same as a regular 1/100 Wzero Custom. There is a difference though. Instead of having white wings and parts, my W-Zero has SILVER wings and all the white has also been replaced by silver. There is not a trace of white anywhere. Also, I think the Gundam has a bit more detail because my cousin used to own a W-Zero 1/100 Custom and it looked kind of dull :D (it's broken now, he replaced it with 1/144 HG Destiny, Freedom, Strike Freedom, and Justice ;)).

Now I have a question concerning the rarity of this "Special" Gundam Wing. I have been unable to find it in ANY online Gundam shop so far and searched Google to no avail. I could only find a handful of BOX ART images. The Gundam is real, as it has the "BANDAI" logo and the parts inside are of high quality. There is also the standard instruction manual with the paint jobs and biography. Is this Gundam rare or am I just not looking hard enough? It cost the gifter about $27 CDN (bought from HK and converted to CDN). Is it "rare" and did I get ripped off?

I'm currently working on it right now. So far, I got the arms, legs, and weapons ready. I'll put pictures up once I'm finished. Thanks!

Looks like were in the same boat because I have the same 1/100 Wing Zero Custom Special Operation Type. Zero Custom looks better with silver then white in my opinion.

dat is a rare and limited edition release of the wing zero custom from bandai.
its a "extra finish" version like the MG Freedom Gundam they relesed recently. U are very lucky to get on of those.... its extremely hard to find. im not sure but i think they did it too for the MG wing zero probably hard to find too....

Wow! Really? I didn't know that. I bought it when I was visiting my cousin, who lives in Toronto, Canada, like five years ago. I don't quite remember how much I paid for it, but I went to this place that sold everything that was model kits and they had alot of Gundam Model kits in particular. It was in this Chinese Mall(yes, I'm chinese) where it was filled with little shops.

theOtherGuy 2006-08-10 00:22

I'm suprised Dalong doesn't have it.

Yeah I don't see it either and its got some many on that site. I was wondering how much bigger is a 1/60 compared to a 1/100 anyways?

theOtherGuy 2006-08-10 01:02

Ooo, he has some comparisons of it...

http://old.rfdh.com/dal67/seed/s60_1/s60_1_30.jpg

Yeah, it's the Strike, but the sizes are just ratios. So, just bump up your 1/100 Wing Zero Custom like 3/4's more.

Actually scratch that. This is a better comparison. (Man Dalong needs to spray his kits with a coat of Top Coat)

AnimePaul 2006-08-10 01:47

Wow, its like twice the size. I bet its really expensive too. Maybe twice the price too.

:heh: (gasps) I'm....sorry, that question just sounded so out there. Seriously, Gundam model kits are made in Japan. They're not cheap, except for the small FG or first grade kits, which have little to no posability at all. If you really want to get into Gundam kits you must be a Gundam fan, a modeler of at least moderate skill (i.e. knows how to paint and build), and willing to make sacrifices for your hobby.

Repeat after me: There is NO Anime/Manga-related hobby that is cheap.:p

QFT.

Depending on where you live, shipping can be quite expensive. Here in Australia, MG kits go from about $60-$180 or so, depending on the size - Ex-S and Sazabi being the main culprits. PGs here range from about $300-$400 or so.

Not to mention other goods like statuettes and stuff, but I digress.

Does anyone have a pic of a 1/100 or 1/60 of a either Strike Freedom or Freedom with a custom black and gold paint job?

I just love that painting. It's just so...boner-giving :heh:.

@AnimePaul: Man...I know that exact place where you're talking about. I go there everytime I want to check out the models. Hell, I even bought three already!

@nightbringer360: The shop that I go to sell the PG models between $180-220. I never saw any MG models but the shop has plenty of HG 1/100 and 1/144.

nightbringer360 2006-08-12 22:35

Take exchange rate into account - $1 AU is roughly 73-75 cents US.

And need I point to the "Innocent Starter" Freedom that is posted up every so often as every noob finds it and thinks "OMFG this looks so good I gotta post it up," or the black and gold Strike Freedom that guy did after?
Yes, that above link, but I remember there was a gallery of that model posted up somewhere.

Yeah, the Innocent Starter Freedom Gundam is rather old, but I always figured it was a 1/100, not a 1/60?
The Strike Freedom done by the same guy had a good paint job, but the proportions were still meh... wings are too small, head seems wrong, etc.

A (Hi-)Nu Gundam modelling competition. Some rather creative entries ... I particularly like the Hi-Nu HWS done up by one of the guys from NetModellers:

MG Marasai or Palace Athene

Any talk of a MG Marasai or a MG Palace Athene? I can't wait for the MG Crossbone X-1 Kai Ka. Version, but whats next? Also, to make all of you jealous, I am getting a Perfect Grade Zeta or Mk. II Gundam in a while, so :P

I already have the PG Zeta :p :heh:

Just need to build it.... :( :heh:

I really wish though that they'd make a MG of any MS from GSD. I mean, that MG Freedom coated version isn't really a GSD release in that it's just a repaint....let's see, a MG Windam :heh: I can see many modelers kit bashing a Windam.

Ok, I'm just going to continue going on about this, but I am mad about those EAF Mobile Armors....:heh: :uhoh:

I seem to have the same problem.. my build queue is just ridiculous now, I have 1 PG, 2 MGs, 1 GSD 1/100, and 3 HG 1/144s waiting to be built. And my dwindling free time isn't helping either. :heh: I seriously need to stop buying model kits. :)

Yeah I'm also hoping that Bandai's next MG will be something from GSD. Destiny or Saviour would be nice. Less than a year after Gundam Seed finished airing, we already had a Freedom and Strike MG. For GSD, we're quickly approaching the 1 year mark (2 months left I believe) and still no news at all. :(

Shiro Amada 2006-08-16 15:34

Sorry to be insulting, but simply put, In my opinion, Seed and its sequels are crap. Although they are WAYYY better than G Gundam, which is something we probably can both agree on. The Seed anime(s) were terrible, although the mecha desings were pretty nice, like the Legend Gundam.

Well, we're talking about the model kits so your opinion is so noted ;)

I mean, sure, in the anime Saviour Gundam's shining moment was when it shot down a Windam :heh: (j/k) But, the HG 1/144 model kit is nice.
And, a 1/100 sized version would have been nicer, but hey, kit bashing is a thought that exists for a reason :heh:

theOtherGuy 2006-08-16 21:54

I have to agree with you guys. I haven't found time to build anything either. I have 2 MGs, 2 HGs, and an SD.

I really want to see a MG Dagger L at least. I know it's pretty much "almost" identical to a Windam...eh whatever, why not have them both as MGs. :P

No, it's not 1/60, it's a slightly modified and repainted MG Freedom. It's the "Nanoha Freedom", Innocent Starter and all that.

dj898 2006-08-18 17:55

it seems recent release of HGUC Powered GM is in all the rage at the moment. And seeing the kit it's amazing how much HGUC line up catches up with MG line up. Guess soon we will see MG line up with as much gimmick/details as PG line up - but then maybe not... :P

while HGUC kit is very lovely indeed as a 1/100 or over scale modeller I couldn't get one so decided to make my own in 1/100 scale. Thanks to Ako Hobby there's a conversion kit to change MG GM Kai into Powered GM. Luckily I got hold of a set some time ago though it sat in my pile of to do boxes till recently. Initially I was out to get the MG GM Quel with the discount sticker on at the local hobby shop I saw on Thursday late night shopping but by the time I went back on Saturday it was gone. D'oh! (Moral of story is if you want one get one on the spot - well easy to say than done coz I had missus looking over my shoulder on Thursday so all I could do was just glancing the box noticing the discount sticker) T^T So instead I got the GM Kai box to work on the Powered GM instead. While I was pulling everything out and trimming I got to think it'd be just stiff GM Kai with the orange armours stuck on and that doesn't really sit well on me so I decided to use one of spare MG Gundam OYW torso and legs for this project instead. It's basically a kitbash if you like. The head and arms from GM Kai while torso and legs are from MG OYW as you can see. One issue I have is since I used the OYW shield modified its grab is bit too loose on GM Kai arm. And GM Kai shield handle piece won't fit on OYW shield either without some modification and by that stage it's been painted, decalled already. Another D'oh! (Or D'oh! D'oh!) I may need to address this issue eventually since every time left arm moves the shield arm holdings bracket will simply slips out... :(

Another thing I went bit different from the stock finish is the change of add-on armour colour. I was told the orange colour was based on the old tradition Japanese army used on their prototype/test machines and I wasn't too keen on painting those in orange so I started to mix a few and settled on this light brown with tint of orange... or so I think. In real life it's more of Brown than what it appears on the photo by the way.

And a word of advise for anyone who's thinking of getting Ako Hobby conversion kit - there are few spots where the gaps will appear and even after you fixed it will reappear as crack... mine's the same. Once finished do not play with it posing various poses and putting stress on the body...

not that Ako Hobby's kit is bad. just that with conversion kit don't expect it'd be snap-tight as Bandai's kit. ^ ^ I still recommend if you can get one go right ahead. You won't be disappointed.

Anyway, here is the 1/100 scale Powered GM with the posability in par with MG OYW.
Hope you like it...
