Perhaps you could try a torrent? Most of those videos come from them anyway as I recall.

Could you show any closeups on the decals? I can make out most of them, but not all. Nice work though, and good call on painting the grey parts white, I'm planning to do that myself - it just looks so much better.

Sety 2006-01-20 12:18

http://www.torrentportal.com/details/129583/

I went to the trouble of finding it, thats a collection of modelmaking videos, its of good interest to any modeller to watch.

The available ones being built are Agguy, Gouf, DOM Char Custom, a Z'Gok display, Gundam MKII, RX-78 Gundam Ver Ka, Old Zaku, Qubeley.

No Sword Calamity though so I'm very interested in it srb if you find a way of putting it up.

That is an awesome job, may I ask how you did the decals?

I don't have it, but I want it as well.

dude... that sucks.... GP-02 is the frockon bomb... funny thing.... i saw it on ebay once for 1 buck so i bid on it and someone took it at the last minute....

Mr_Paper 2006-01-21 00:52

I gave up on eBay since people were always doing that to me. I'd be the only bidder on an item then, with less than two minutes until the auction ended, someone would enter a last minute bid to beat me out.

After having it happen a dozen times, I just gave up. >.>

srb 2006-01-21 01:35

Use their own strategy against them - people find items they want, write down the closing time, then right before it closes they make a bid.

mmmm...sexy. Those decals are great idea.

I can't wait to get my paints/decals in the mail so I can work on my MG Strike. Need to try to make it look like that. :D

Didn't Amazon.com run out of GP-02 weeks ago? The only thing they have now is the Kampfer. Heh, guess it's not popular..

Isn't that why maximum bid exists? :heh:

That depends on when they end, no? If they end at, say, 22:00 on a Wednesday and you know you're not doing anything then, why not take one minute from your time and write it down and then another minute to bid at it on 21:59?

I'm not suggesting you live according to the end dates.

"Sorry guys, I've got to go now, I have to bid on an auction on eBay!" all the time would be pretty weird :P.

GameraBaenre 2006-01-21 05:48

Since there was recent talk of SD's in here, as well as a little SD Competition over at another forum.... I started this last night. Not too much done so far, just glued the parts, minor sanding, drill of holes, and a bit of epoxy putty to add bulk and shape to it.... I've got 8 more days before I need to have this little sucker finished. Good thing these guys are tiny.

http://www.gamerabaenre.com/sd_kampfer_prog.htm

No idea for a paint scheme yet. Debating on going flat + weathered, or shiny and experimental with some pearl powders....

pmajin 2006-01-22 14:16

Here's a modelling question to all those madass godly modellers... WHen hand painting the airducts black/dark colored on the chest of most gundams with a fine-tip brush, how is it possible to paint the black parts without accidentally painting over the ducts themselves and causing a huge mess in the duct area... aside from being extreeeeemllyy carefully while painting.... I just finished my Hazel CUstom TR-1 but i messed up the ducts and it's too small for me to fix the inside of the ducts.... :(

You have to be careful

The only ones I saw on ebay recently are for real cheap, but they are shipping scams...They charge 40-70 bucks for shipping.

I emailed one of them and asked why shipping was so high, because I've shipped multiple models in LARGE boxes and it didn't even cost me 20 bucks, and questioned on if his model was made of depleted uranium, And if not...Then why did he feel the need to be so exorbantly overpriced on shipping.

His response? Basically ignored everything I said and said shipping prices that high were not outrageous.

So maybe the model WAS made out of depleted Uranium.

EDIT

As to the other part, its refered to as sniping...and is common practice. I usually enter my last bid with less than 10 seconds to spare, and I usually get the item ^_^;;

mangatron 2006-01-22 19:40

heh, I don't mind ebay, it actually accounts for 95% of my purchases for the last 2 months lol. And, I do maximum bids because I plan ahead of time, and money is....lol...:)

For those high shipping profiteers, they're probably just biding their time till the model gets rare lol.

You do mean 1/144 size, right? For that, I use Micron/Pigment ink pens. I have various sizes for the various sizes of jobs, and my best are 0.020mm, and 0.10mm. Not only does the model look good, it's very easy :)

eBay charges the sellers based on the listing fee - though sometime they give free listing days and many sellers put the start bid price at very low but put the Hugh mark-up in the shipping to make up in case the item sold under valued... :(

When I was selling eBay I used to the similar thing listing items at 1 cent each with minimum U$30 for shipping which basically included U$10 for actual shipping and U$20 for the item price... Well everyone I know were doing so I didn't see anything wrong and coz I combined the shipping for multiple items so it wasn't like I was ripping off the buyers - I only sold to local buyers though, no international shipping to avoid any headache... WIIW

And that is against ebay rules, and is a scam by luring in buyers with low prices, then raping them on shipping

dj898 2006-01-22 23:54

and everyone is doing and it's more rampant now than when I was doing on eBay... :(

Its not like they charge you alot,e ither.

I started an auction with a baseprice of...200 dollars I think.

no reserve

local pick up only.

And only got charged like...5 dollars I think to list it?

and you even get the money back if the item dosn't sell!

dj898 2006-01-23 00:36

well don't know about your eBay but eBay AUS didn't refund and it's rather expensive and they even at one stage closed my account over 50 cent. I couldn't even bank transfer that amount nor they will accept 50 cent coin in the envelope. :(

In any case I'm now off eBay for good. I had too much of hassle dealing with overseas buyers asking to ship overseas even though auctions for local only.. :(

Mr_Paper 2006-01-23 01:00

Getting back to the topic of models. ^^;

I recently discovered this gem of a site KXXXXA to MxxxO, Some of their works (particularly their GS and GSD models) are inspired and show levels of detail that betray the scale of the kits.

theOtherGuy 2006-01-23 01:07

Isn't this the place with the Justice that we've seen before?

Mr_Paper 2006-01-23 01:21

I don't think so...

I've never seen a Justice model that looked even remotely like this posted or linked to on this forum.

For a $200 item The listing is ~$5, the end of auction Fee is ~$8, and the paypal fee will be another ~$6 or so.. that's around $19 in fees right there. It's a bit here and there but they do add up. if you were to sell 5 of those that's almost $100 gone in fees alone. Also you do not get the money back,, you get Credit. Credit for Ebay only is not money back.

Quote:

"and is a scam by luring in buyers with low prices, then raping them on shipping "
this is 100% not true if the seller states it's Shipping Price right from the start in the Auction discription. How the hell is it rape if the buyer agrees to it and was in no way force to. The buyer also have to be responsible for their own action. If you didn't spend the time to read the discription of the item you want then whos fault is it?. If the shipping fee is not listed in the auction then it's the buyers responsibilty to ask the seller about it.

Here's simple logical way to look at the total price of a item

Item price + Shipping and handling = Total that you'll have to pay.

ex $20+$10 =$30 Total (Fee from seller increase the price of the item listed)
ex. $5 +$20 = $25 Total (Cuting corner on Fee so the saving can be push to both seller and buyer)

Then theirs Sniping, which in all ways legal,, it's just shows that someone really wanted to win that certain auction. If you got sniped then it just shows that someone is willing to pay more for the item than you. Even if his ending Winning Bid is just $1 more then yours it's still his win because it's was higher than your maximum bid. If you can still go higher then it wouldn't be your maximum bids , right? Also when someout out bids you by $1 it doesn't mean that he just place a bid that's just $1 over yours,, he could have place a bid that's $100 over yours. but once his bid pass your maximum bid it'll stay there until some else is willing to pay more.

Just read carefully before you bid:) the same as what you should do before signing any contract.

As someone who's sold on Ebay before, they really do kill you with fees. I sold a laptop a couple of years ago, and the Ebay fees, Paypal fees, and some various other things amounted to 60 bucks.. I was not pleased.

And yes, you should always be looking at total cost.. shipping + item cost. But one thing I've noticed on Ebay is that Gundam models are more expensive than you can get elsewhere. I would rather buy it from a store for a lower price rather than on Ebay.. why people bid so high is beyond me.

Also there's the bootleg models on Ebay. Most of the time people sell authentic Bandai models, but there's some bootlegs that sneak in there. The last one I saw was a PG 1/60 Wing Zero Custom. The seller admitted that is was not made by Bandai, but the box looked almost exactly the same, so if you weren't careful you would've been easily fooled.

dj898 2006-01-23 19:23

one of funniest moment with eBay would be that Xbox box auction.
someone not reading the description carefully bid rather large sum of moment for the super minty and clean almost brand new cardboard box of xbox - i.e. empty packing box for LE xbox...

Probably epoxy or something similiar. I doubt its putty because putty chips and breaks way too easily for anything other than filling.

I remember that one,, there was also one recently for the xbox 360, but there was lots of complaints and the Buyer refuses to pay and filed this and that. The ending result = "Seller is no longer register".

I don't fell sorry for the seller one bit,, he had it comming :)

It looks like standard Milliput to me. -.-

http://www.geocities.jp/kxm3002/DESTINY.htm - Its going for near $700 at Yahoo! Auctions. :twitch:

GameraBaenre 2006-01-23 22:39

The yellow stuff is actually Tamiya Epoxy putty Quick type. Very similar to miliput. I'm using it to build up some areas, and fill in huge holes that are prevalant in SD kits.

Holy crap.. that Destiny model is amazing! I especially like the color scheme.. the ASS and beam cannon look much, much better in black IMO.

I only hope that MG Destiny (if ever released) will look as half as good as that model.

this tamiya epoxy putty quick type, is it similar to the stuff u used on ur kampfer that hs the long round spikes at the back of the arms?

i'm thinking of working on a amatu (blitz+astray) mod but i want to be able to at lease make the head look correct. i'll provide sample images of the astray head nad amatu head tomororw, need to sleep :D

Isn't that a 1/144 sized model? There aren't exactly enough pictures that show it posing that well, the parts look alot like 1/144 size, and there really isn't any really good size comparison's at all....

For $700, you've got to be a celebrity buying something of that size :uhoh:

Yeah, same stuff. Pretty easy to use, just mix equal parts of the contents and apply to your model and shape it using wet fingers/wet tools. Make sure you clean your tools after use... stuff is hard to clean off tools once hardened/cured.
