Some info also on the cast and staff

From Akamatsu's tweet: OAD will be produced by same staff with same budget (as single episode), coming with manga vol. 14 limited version. Dana will not show up in TV series but will be in the OAD.

Which means OAD is likely Kitty's story at Dana's home....

More additional cast + premiere date:

At least, Ikkū, Jinbei and Gengorō now have their voice actors

However, I'm still afraid this adaptation will exclude some other important (secondary) characters (f.ex.: Santa)

Episode 1:

Lol, they didn't waste any time showing off the fan service in this anime. I mean, even the first opening minutes had the girls barely dressed.

I think the OP song is fine so far, nothing too special but works for this show.
They didn't take time to introduce Yukihime right into this season. I think the highlight so far of this episode is the character chemistry between her and Touta. I like her voice acting tbh, fits for her character.

I feel the comedy is a hit or miss right now. Might have to get used to it like the manga. Action was okay, felt like it's more of a tease to set up for the bigger things. The second latter of this episode gave me more interest for this show and apparently, it's not afraid to show off some violence.

Well, at least I'm relieved they seem to gonna follow the Manga properly. For now, that is... :upset:

Why was Akira walking around the school in a swimsuit? I get she's from a swimming team, but aren't you supposing to dress up again before leaving the pool area?

Why does Negi sound so childlike? Even in the first anime, Satou Rina used to have less of a pipsqueak kiddy delivery to her Negi. Here he sounds like he's a toddler!

Overall Horie Yui seems to be the Negima cast member holding up the best, her Makie sounds just as fine now as she used to. Great job there.

The OP seems more fitting a pure harem comedy than any sort of action show. I was hoping for at least a few images of Powerful Hand, Fate's Ala Alba and Negi's team looming ominously and posing in a cool way, or something. The part with a huge pink heart downright reading aloud 'LOVE' was especially cringeworthy.

It was pretty good and faithful. I am dissapointed in opening tho, hoped for something diffrent, maybe more of Fate and Negi.
Ending is sort of good, average.

Also, by the way, UQ Holder, Vandread called, it wants its ED back.

Tenzen12 2017-10-02 18:37

Not exactly impressed. Content wise it was pretty faithful, but it felt like it crammed lot of stuff together. Bit more "show not tell" would help. Neither animation nor sound was stellar and voice acting was bit too "high tension".

Well, it's just first episode, so it has plenty of time improve.

Yukihime definitely looks like Hohenheim. :heh:

FlareKnight 2017-10-02 21:05

Overall it was a pretty solid start. They did hurry things along to end on that point though. And certainly made the Negima intro portion a bit cramped. "Hey guys....well bye now." At least we can say they aren't shy with this show. Within minutes we had several girls naked. Then we had Tota and Yukihime bleeding enough to fill a small pool. She could tell him to drink her blood, but they both bled so much I'd honestly be unsure which was hers :heh:.

It was better than I expected. Though to be fair I had few expectations so maybe that was a low bar :).
