Hello guys, i´m planning to make battle-damaged HG 1/144 Cherudim Gundam. Does anyone have pic, where you can see the Cherudim before it´s battle with Gadessa. I want to re-create that scene. Thx in advance.

I painted the mega launcher with humbrol's gunmetal and a gloss brown so, i don't know what green you are seeing.

but thanks for the compliment on my models.

cool wallpaper. how different are armored core kits to gundam kits?

DC23 2010-05-29 07:54

A LOT different bro...AC kits are more like HG in comparison to quality BUT is a lot more difficult to work with than MGs coz AC kits has more parts and a ton more seam lines to fix.

Okay thanks, I've been wondering for a while, one day I'll try an AC kit, when I'm more experienced, lol.

I operate mostly HG 1/144 Anno Domini, so when I see alot of nicely colored ones I get impressed, because it falls under the area that I collect......and I would know the difference in quality because I stare at mine everyday. I do not have the time to color all of them yet, only some of them and I'm not that experienced yet in terms of handpainting, only a bit more airbrushing which is much more time consuming, especially for tiny specific areas [especially with applying the masking tape] instead of whole runners.

The green I'm talking about is the lower section under the brown of the launcher. It looks like a strange hue of dark grey green to me. [its not green, but I will always interpret that color in language as a type of green. Don t know why, I'm having problems about identifying it visually among the colors at the store so I can use it for my own Eins]

So, its gunmetal then? I guess I will try to find it then, I really like that color but I cant find the the exact color for years and the Eins unfortunately is by default very barren and needs a lot of painting for the "complete" look.

I found a great site to view completed GunPla! Enjoy ;)

Does anybody own any old 1/144 scale (not high grade) Universal century kits? They're really really cheap and I can get about six kits for the price of one, Aside from articulation are they any good? Or do they look too 'blocky'?

and here's my almost finished HG Masurao custom!

oh yeah, sorry for the picture quality, it's meh, and a bit dark, I should get a lamp and make a light box.

Chiu_fan 2010-05-30 05:32

After seeing the RD Reborns Gundam, it made me regret ordering the 1/144 HG version. Comparing them both, the RD version is way better than the HG. All the fangs can be deployed(shield, skirt armor and "wings"), cables for the hands in cannon mode and 2 beam saber parts. Why Bandai? Why?!

DC23 2010-05-30 06:29

I just finished painting / weathering my old MG Wing Gundam Zero Custom today and I am pretty happy with the outcome. I gave this kit some battle damage effects days ago with Hasegawa U type and flat type chisels and also with an ordinary art knife.

I then gave it the sponge paint chipping effects that I also did with the AC White Glint build, however unlike the brown and flat earth enamel washes of the White Glint, I gave this one an ordinary black mixed with flat earth enamel wash. Thus it does not have the rusted old and battered look that I achieved with the AC kit. I will never weather with neutral colors ( black and gray ) next time and will stick to my rust colored weathering. hihi

a little more read and tons of photos in my blog - MG Wing Gundam Zero Custom

i wld rather hg to stay that way else the kit will be super flimsy...is not a toy/figurine like RD. plus if you got a lot of stand to pose the extra gn fangs, i got nothing to say.

Sweet work on your Zero and White Glint it must of taken ages or a good amount of time and effort for what you do.. If only i had the time (curse my life, lol) i would certainly would like to learn more of the perks of creating things like you do with your model kits.. Great job looking foward to more of your work. :)

darkstrife 2010-05-31 08:52

just a general questions for all the gundam modellers here

how long have u guys being building gundam kits? also what series did u first watch that prompted u to start delving into the world of gunpla?

for me:

started building in 2007
got interested after watching gundam seed (yeah i know, a bit late to the party lol)
first kit: 1/100 Force Impulse (now long gone, my scrap kit for experimenting lol)

duotiga 2010-05-31 09:32

started buiding in 2004
revival after watching seed also
first kit: hg 1/144 aile strike

JC... 2010-05-31 09:35

Well I either started in 2008 or 2009, after watching gundam 00, but this year, I got serious with all the painting and stuff, now I've seen loads of the UC series.

StrikeFreedomV2 2010-05-31 10:00

I started November 2008 after watching SEED and Destiny. My first models were the NG 1/100 Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice and boy, did i a bad job :heh:

helois 2010-05-31 10:54

started last year, during the first season of Gundam 00 i see a kyrios model kit 1/144 at a festival of comics, anime and games..

then i bought a Dynames,Throne Zwei,Nadleh... then I try the 1/100 scale with a Avalanche Exia and a MG Strike noir, recently a MG Wing Gundam zero custom and MG Astray Blue Frame

now i'm working on a "missing link" between the Astraea and the Exia with an Astraea and the junk of Avalanche...
for my birthday(already passed by a month) some friends with other people took me as a gift an Arios and Arios Designer edition both 1/100..
i'll work on "them" in the summer o in september... to break the summer's study or september's exams... ^^

Critias 2010-05-31 15:04

Going back in time a little bit farther:

I started waaaaay back in the early 2000s, not sure what year to be honest.

Got interested after viewing Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.
As a result, my first kit was HG 1/144 Wing Zero Custom

amurorei83 2010-05-31 16:28

I started in 1995 with SD kits. The first Gundam series i watched was F91. I then started my collection of 1/100s when I played SRW 4 on the PS which spurred my on to look into other Gundam series. Since then, I've never looked back :)

MoonLightShadows 2010-05-31 18:45

I remember along time ago Gundam Wing was on TV. I only began getting interested in Gundam, is when Seed came on TV i think it was about 05/06 (ish?). My first two kits were NG 1/144 Strike Freedom and 1/100 Destiny Gundam. :p

justavisitor 2010-05-31 19:46

my first one is Infinte Justice in 1/144...damn it that 1) two sabers cannot be connected 2) Color is a bit off (I never paint) 3) The backpack is causing a posing problem

From this experience, I learned to check the model at dalong since it shows a complete model without painting...and I started to choose a model that doesn't have a huge backpack...my second model, RX 78-2 in 1/144 is a thousand times better :heh:

now I am waiting for HGUC ZZ..the backpack should be ok since it fits tightly in the back of zz (unlike infinite justice)

kakakka 2010-05-31 20:20

I bought by first kit around 2006, but they were bad so.... Bought them for nostalgia (1997 Gundam Wing watcher here.)

HG Exia and JG Graham's Flag around 2007 (or was it 2008?). They were cleanly built, but with no added colours or paint.

My recent kits nowadays are HG Kyrios and HG Freedom Gundam.

HG Freedom is so much better than HG Strike Freedom, of course after it got painted.

X207 2010-05-31 21:40

i probably started 5 years ago, not too sure when i first purchased my NG blitz gundam anymore. it was the only one i had for a while until 2 years ago when it hit me hard and i got the other 12 kits. secondwas a 100 lunamaria zaku then i lost track of which oreder the others came in.

DC23 2010-05-31 23:44

I started January 2008 and watched Gundam Wing series before way back but Gundam Seed prompted me to build and paint Gundam kits. Thus, my first painted Gundam kit is the HG Force Impulse Gundam.:D

Sworra 2010-06-01 01:10

I started back in 1995 my first series that introduced me to Gundam was Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, My first Model kit was a comic book series called Silhouette Formula 91 the moble suit was RXF-91A Silhouette Gundam Kai After that, it took off and now im here today.

MakubeX2 2010-06-01 08:07

If anyone want to discuss the business aspect over Gunpla, here's a chart listing the revenues generated (in billion yens) from the eras of end-SeeD to end-OO over a 7 year period :-

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6918/1275299048030.jpg

aeriolewinters 2010-06-01 10:29

This does not bode well, we are looking at a third CE series if this trend doesn't go away.

fizzmaister 2010-06-01 10:44

Is that real? I think I remember reading that 00 kits sales we beating SEED.

kakakka 2010-06-01 10:51

I don't think its about 00 vs seed chart. It's about how many revenue gunpla was generating since 2003.

MG Deathscythe Hell Custom Announced

Nice, I hope we'll see the EW Gundams get MG treatment as well.

fizzmaister 2010-06-01 11:24

Right I forgot, Bandai still makes most of its money of off UC stuff. I had my US bias that mostly the recent stuff is being sold. I assumed that Bandais sales mostly consisted of the current/previous series.

Ngee Khiong is wrong: the Happinet online item page describes the original Gundam Deathscythe (confirmed by the model number), see the shield claws and effect parts affected to it (and the cloak is absolutely not mentioned).
