Anime Website Design
I know that a lot of people rely on more English sources for their anime news (obviously), but when it comes to choosing a series, my method is a little different. I use a list (from a site like Fansub Wiki) or this Japanese one and go through shows' official websites in order. It's a good way to get a quick look at color schemes, character designs, OPs and EDs, etc. (No surprise, "Characters" and "Products" are my two most visited sections on any site.)
What do you think are some shows that have good website design? They're all going to be kind of samey, but things like fonts used and the way the buttons are arranged can have a big impact. Neptunia has some pretty creative stuff going on with its scrolling canvas, and I like what Manyuu Hikenchou did for its site. Not just in the URL, which isn't the show's name, but still indicative, and the mouse-over fanservice thing it has going on. Play to the show's strengths. Even without taking gimmicks into account, something like the Hayate website (and the nearly identical Kaminomi site) are simply eye-pleasing, with a good use of color and ease of finding information. The stuff outside the show is sometimes as important as the show for people, so I wanted to know if anyone has any further thoughts on this. |
I have to say that the Date A Live official website is too Flash-heavy, but really stylistic.

Fansubwiki also lacks all of the Theatre Releases which Moon Phase [http://m-p.sakura.ne.jp/Html/anime.html#movie does have]. Hope that helps if you're needing some more inspiration. |

The page for the GJ-Bu series however offers a very simple and laidback (although website designs full of Kana and Kanji tend to put me off not because I cannot read it, I'm just too lazy to... read, and I have a bias for websites written in Roman character sets rather than Kana+Kanji. :heh:) design, which is quite fitting for series of that nature. |
