The Destiny special version is the same price as the Strike Freedom Full Burst mode. (7000 yen) I have no idea why Gunota is including Japanese sales tax in the price.

Anyways, Destiny looks.. wow. Definitely looking forward to it.

duotiga 2007-07-23 18:22

Also announced is the new Speed Grade Collection line: 1/200 scale Gunpla that come completely painted on the runners. First two in the line are the RX-78 Gundam and Wing Gundam in September for 780 yen.

looks like I WILL be buying the destiny kit lol...

LightningZERO 2007-07-25 04:23

Maybe me too. I'm pretty satisfied with my 1/100, but if this turn up to be good, he's mine

I wonder what will the special edition has. Wings of Light parts...and maybe transparent blue hand part for his hand blaster effect....

The special edition does seems a bit overpriced for now

Infinite justice 1/100 would have been a better choice for an extra finish pink mecha :P From the tiny image herehttp://bandai-hobby.net/gentei/ comes in chrome pink. Bet its going to be covered in nub marks, to make it even more ugly. Want more news on the destiny master grade.

Where's a good place to buy models?

I'm in the lookout for a 1/144 HG 79 one and a Freedom Gundam one from SEED.

Bloody bandai...why don't just spend more time on making new kits instead of recolouring zakus?! I want my druggie suits in 1/100!

because they are in in for the money.
Pure and simple... really... -__-;;

very impressive guys, I feel ashamed of being among you all! But I've only been collecting Gundams for just the past year due to the cost of them here in NZ, once I have gotten around to the task; I will post up those that I have in my 'slow' collection.

cheers

1/144 or 1/100 models costing around US$20-30 is normal. MG usually cost around US$50 plus. Try HLJ.com and have a look at the pricing whether it's "normal".

You should have bought 1/100 scale. That my personal preference since MOST of the colors are molded right, so painting is minimal. That and 1/144 is just to small for my tastes. The only benefit I see is there are a larger range of selections.

Anyway back to your question., basically a HG (high grade) is better than a non HG. Why? because non HG's just flat out suck. They usually come molded in 2 colors.

heres a comparison to see what I mean:
NON HG Gunner Zaku:
http://gunpla-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/...ku-warrior.htm

HG gunner Zaku:
http://gunpla-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/...-lunamaria.htm

And here's a regular 1/100:
http://gunpla-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/...aria-1-100.htm

As you can see non HG's.....well, they suck.

Anyway, 20 dollars for one HG model is the average price. So yeah, you didnt get a deal.

How much does it cost? MG units are quite expensive here unfortunately :(

dodgethis_sg 2007-08-01 07:46

3800yen. Do the approximate conversion.

faithless571 2007-08-01 10:51

well thx every1 for the answers, 1 more question

are there anymore differences between 1/144 and 1/100 besides size and more color? i saw on one site the 1/100s had the pilot and 1/144s didnt

GameraBaenre 2007-08-01 13:06

The crew over at MMC are taking a different approach to judging. We have several judging formats that we will interchangeably use depending on the contest month or turnout or other factors. For the first month, we're going with a new Tournament style. The entrants are seeded based off the ratings they got from their posts. (benefits to posting earlier will help the entrant get more ratings over posting later in the contest). Now this is a single elimination match up. The judges will be selecting the winners of each match based on standard judging criteria set for MMC: http://www.mechamodelcomp.com/?page_id=3

Everyone can follow along as the judging moves along. Hopefully the first matches will be decided today or tomorrow, and we can move into the second round matches on Friday.. all depending on how soon the judges complete the round.

Here we go: http://www.mechamodelcomp.com/?page_id=106

Over here in NZ they usually cost anywhere from 80.00-150.00NZ!! And PG kits go for between 450.00-580.00!! Thats' pure robbery in my books, and its no wonder I don't have more of these kits in my collection. For my opinion I would only save my money for the PG range that I order from HK at a much lower cost, to make it worth the money and time.

Uh, no. Direct conversion doesn't work here in Singapore.

dodgethis_sg 2007-08-02 05:41

You can. Specific yen prices are pegged to specific SRPs. IE EX-S @ 8000 retails at 169.90.

Question for the SEED knowledgable folks:

Is there any difference in looks or equipment between Rey's Blaze Zaku Phantom with Dearka's Blaze Zaku Phantom? I was planning on just repainting a 1/100 Rey kit to black.

OmegaZEROCustom 2007-08-02 17:30

Nope, no difference. I did the exact same thing with a 1/100 Blaze ZAKU Phantom (the Rey one) and when I did screen caps to get the colors right, I noted the Blaze Wizard is identical in color and design to all the other ones seen in the series.

A good reference to use now is the promo images of the new 1/144 version of Dearka's ZAKU. The torso and limbs are slightly different colors, with the torso being darker. Plus, using the 1/144 for reference, you can get the yellow areas correct, whereas I had to go back and correct mine as the screencap looked wrong from the angle I had.

anyone have any suggestions on a household tool that can be used to replace a scriber?

dodgethis_sg 2007-08-05 20:20

A very sharp needle in a pin vice with the tip regularly sharpened.

Fafnir 2007-08-06 03:52

FYI, Bandai also had a very similar line to 'SPEED Grade' for Gundam SEED. They were small(Mabey 1/200.... maby smaller) models that could be put together very quickly(they didn't even have sprues). They had pretty good articulation, decent colouring, and okay detail. The plastic was also quite flexable compared to that used in Gunpla kits. More like a constructable action figure really. I have the remnants of a duel one in my room... It's in pieces, but it's there... Also, to note, despite the fact that it has more detail in the painting then an NG 1/144, the white on the 'model' is actually a light blue(very blue). So either they use really runny paint, or they weren't too worried about colour.
