Masaki Tsuzuki? Poster does not seem to hint Nanoha-verse, but who knows. I am fine with either a new original or a new part of the franchise.

The Nanoha-verse has been rather milked over the years, to varying degrees of quality. I tried to pick up some of the mangas post StrikerS but many of them kinda sucked.

Character info and staff announced

Based on the staff, it looks like a Seven Arcs show.

Yeah. Suzuki have not worked with other studios and other staff are regular collaborators. Though 7arcs already have 2 series planned for this year presumably. And their output during the last years is rarelly more than 2 per year.

Mangas are not that bad, though, I still cannot finish Vivid. And Vivid Strike was decent despite some people hating it.

Not sure what this new series will be about but arts shw diofferent types of sport and also idol stuff.

FlareKnight 2022-02-12 21:58

I'm still not sure what to make of this. I guess it's just a futuristic sports anime? No idea what kind of sport they'll be participating in. Maybe it's like a general sports thing where they use those extreme gears to engage in various miscellaneous competitions.

Doesn't seem like it will have anything to do with the Nanoha franchise. Whether it's the Vivid franchise or Dog Days, there's definitely a desire by the project writer for this to focus on extreme/unusual sports.

Vivid Strike. I'm still not sure if that show was good or bad. A very mixed bag and I totally get why some people hated it.

Also mixing idols and sports is giving me traumatic flashbacks to Pride of Orange :heh:.

The pic shows a soccer field, so I guess it's a soccer anime? Or maybe it's some sort of fantasy sports that just happens to take place in a soccer field... that would be pretty weird though. lol

Liddo-kun 2022-02-13 06:59

what exactly is the plot of this?

There are 3 pics with girls playing soccer (are there to much americans here so we cannot use football), basketball and baseball.

PV is out. Looks like sci-fi spocon with idols.

Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)

So an idol anime with Shonen-level sports...okay :eyespin:.

FlareKnight 2022-03-28 19:04

I still don't know what to make of this show. Though hey, it can't possibly combine idols and sports more awkwardly than Pride of Orange. So, guess we'll see how this turns out.

Not particularly hyped. But it could work better than I'm expecting.

Spoiler for ep1:

This was touted as a sports anime on anichart, so I watched episode 1 and all of a sudden its about idols.

So to have the premise that doing well in sports would lead to a future as an idol is kind of a stretch. Like, wouldn't their success in sports further their career in sports?

Regarding the extreme gear, what the hell does it really do? It looks like they boost the player's abilities, so running would be a dash, jumping would be higher, hitting/kicking would be faster? Since they showed soccer, I was thinking it's like Mario Strikers.

Character wise, I'm ok with them as friends, but it wasn't explained how Sumi knows Saki (are they siblings?). I wonder what's with the robot AIs? They didn't seem very competent in the soccer match. Also, random ad hoc substitutions are a thing.

Not sure if I'll continue to follow this anime all the way, but I'll give it a few more episodes just to watch the sports action.

FlareKnight 2022-07-10 10:46

At least the first episode did lay out the plot a bit better. And this mix of idols and sports works better for me than Pride of Orange! Because it really is just...both. The sports are definitely right in there since they are actively playing them and will be jumping between various sports. They even can handle the issue of having a good amount of players thanks to rentable AI players :heh:.

But the musical side of it is still a driving force. So it isn't exactly like Hiyori dropping music for sports. But at this point needing to use sports to try and keep her musical dreams alive. That she can have others go with her along the journey is a bonus.

The logic seems alright to me anyways. Doing better in sports creating more mainstream attention that can be used to basically advertise her music. Because people have short attention spans and need some action to get their eyes on the screen first :heh:.

Not bad so far. Definitely had a good time.

She did only mention it once, but Sumi did introduce herself to Hiyori as Saki's childhood friend. Complete with photographic evidence :D.

I guess the AIs are there so teams can fill out full rosters without needing a huge group. So the sports can have fairly full rosters without needing generic people to fill the ranks. And probably just to help out artists that aren't in big idol groups to still field a full team. Probably some rules about keeping the specs on the robots low. Otherwise they then walk into the question of why they are having people compete at all when they can just watch bot games :heh:. Though it still opens up a can of worms in that sense.

episode 1:

enjoyed it a lot.

Hiyori keeps going even with so many failures. Well, even with just one fan, an idol can continue.

it appears that swapping players is legal to do mid-game?

looking forward to next week! :)

Anh_Minh 2022-07-11 11:02

I feels it sucks both as an idol anime and a sports anime.

Especially the sport aspect. Swapping players without the ones already playing being aware is ridiculous. And I hope it at least was a swap, and not a straight addition.

To be honest I'm less locked into the rules on soccer and when you can substitute players. But presumably if everyone was ball watching they could pull that off during play. The other team is up by such a ridiculous score they probably wouldn't even be paying attention. Would also be amusing if they got a whistle blown for illegal substitution and didn't get to keep that goal on the board :heh:.

At least them joining in seems probable since I'm sure Sumi made sure to register them as players in case they were asked to help or if Saki gathered the will to join in. So at least that part works fine :).
