~Destiny~ 2011-02-04 22:17

Can I get some opinions on the RG ZakuII? Pros/cons, how it is compared to RG Gundam etc. I've been contemplating getting it, but in pictures I cant help but feel something looks off

Illsteir 2011-02-05 00:03

rrobbert186 has a video review of that kit. Go check it out.

Appel 2011-02-05 10:29

Pics of the actual model should be revealed with this month's hobby magazines (Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby) for certain, which isn't for another couple of weeks.

Actually been kinda bummed by the recent model kit announcements lately. Not that they're bad, but just not really interested in them. And I'm still waiting on my HGAC (Wing) line :upset:

I'm still waiting on the HG 1/144 GN-XIV...

He's waiting on it because that line of models doesn't exist (yet).

I thought he was referring to the kits that came out in the late '90s.

No, those kits weren't refered to as HGAC (High Grade After Colony), they were just HG kits. An HGAC kit would be a newly released one (but so far they haven't announced anything). Its similiar to the newly released G and X Gundam HG kits (HGFC and HGAW respectively)

I don't keep up with the specifics.:heh: The only things I need to know are HG, MG, and PG; anything else just complicates things.:p

justavisitor 2011-02-09 22:29

@LoweGear
I seriously think RG wing will come sooner than the HGAC...which should be a good news for you I guess?? XD

hmm...if they have RG Aile Strike, then I suspect RG freedom is not that far away...should I wait a bit??

Sworra 2011-02-10 01:05

Im more a UC guy but im not really interested in the RG, RX-78 or Char's Zaku II. So i'm kinda glad that strike is coming out.. just because you get a good looking back pack with the deal, see how the Strike RG turns out, i might just have to get one to see how RG is. Cheers.

CsrFSeiei 2011-02-10 10:39

I recently finish my RX-78-2 Ver 2.0 Model Kit. ITS AWESOME! well its kind of plain but articulation is just great (its superb).
If you look it it dosent have many seamlines , or panelines but it looks great very classic. Colors are very cartoonish but they are very good. I will not paint this, i just paneline and top coated (gloss). I will build the weapons and shield once my water decals come to me :D!! (i'm from Peru so i had to import them).

Here are some pictures of my RX - 78 http://eiko-gunpla.blogspot.com

As much as an RG Wing would be nice, given the fact that the Wing Gundam TV hasn't even had a proper HG release yet unlike the Aile Strike would make the release of an RG Wing Gundam highly unlikely within the next 2-3 years, unless Bandai pulls a fast one again :heh:

justavisitor 2011-02-10 16:08

imo I wouldn't say that Aile Strike had a proper HG XD (you need to paint everything for the HG 1/144)...but that's just my opinion :D

GN0010 Nosferatu 2011-02-10 23:50

It's just not fair, I wanted the TV version. :(

I use to like em, but now they've grown off of me. The only good thing about this, is that it opens the door to a potential Robot Damashii Serpent.

That would be sweet. I've always liked the Serpent.

that RD Wing Zero better not be a web exclusive!

There is no way in hell this thing is going to be an exclusive. For two primary reasons.

1.) It's a Gundam, Gundams always sell.

2.) It's the Wing Zero Custom, a lot of people love it, it'd be a kick in the nuts to keep it from the masses. Bandai isn't that heartless, most of the time anyway.

Aren't usually the web exclusives ones that are more obscure or not main streamed? Like the Astraeas?

Even so it doesnt stop some people from wanting them right?, And this is definitely not the place for this: but RD Eva's have alot of web exclusives. But thanks to Nosferatu I'm glad to know Bandai isnt as stingy with their gundam merch

No it definitely does not. Though it pisses me off how the good ones become exclusives... And stuff that should be included in regular releases become exclusives too... *looks at GN Sword III*

The key word here is "usually".

There is no true way to distinguish what Robot Damashii figure will be a mass release, or which will be an exclusive.

Take the Robot Damashii Gaddess from Gundam 00. Back when it was first shown, none of us RD collectors even contemplated the idea it'd be an exclusive. It uses the same mold as the other GNZ figures, it was a great design, had some significance in the show because of its pilot, all signs pointed to a good ol regular release.

Then we were curb stomped with the exclusive notice. Being that it ONLY appeared in one episode, KIND OF made sense if that was the fact it was an exclusive, but I never saw that as an excuse.

Then came our fellow Jegan D-Type. After the success and praise of the Stark Jegan, everyone was pretty pumped for a nice regular Jegan, well...we all know what happened there. No, unlike the Gadessa, the decision to make the standard Jegan an exclusive had no grounds to it at all. It's a popular grunt mecha (seriously, who doesn't like the Jegan?). It also uses like 90% of the same sculpt as the Stark Jegan, aside from the bazooka, missile pods, and extra armor pieces, hell those pieces are ALL usable on the regular Jegan too, so there was no major extensive modifications between the two sculpts. But alas...the Jegan D-Type ended up as an exclusive anyway.

The point I'm making is, when all signs and facts point to a Robot Damashii figure being a regular release, you just might get that unpleasant surprise the next day.

Now I'm 99.98% the Wing Zero Custom will be a mass release, and all you fans will get one to enjoy. Just try not to shove the idea of it being an exclusive out of your head.

You'll rage buckets if it does end up one.

Official Gundam Girl figures?:

Kuroi Hadou 2011-02-11 13:29

^ I hope so.

GN0010 Nosferatu 2011-02-11 18:03

CsrFSeiei 2011-02-11 18:06

Look at the #5 item under Robot Damashii ;)

Let's hope it'll get more votes

SonicSP 2011-02-12 00:12

I just realised that the HG GN Sword V blade can connect to the GN Sword II handle. Too bad the blade cannot turn to Sword Mode though, since the crystal sensor is blocking it. Rifle Mode looks much better with the II handle rather than the V handle IMO.

Yeah, 'cause having to paint/detail a model kit makes it 'not proper'...

Indeed, I'd say that half the fun of the model kits is painting/detailing them yourself.

The other half, as well you all should know, is the rocking awesome robot toy you just bought.
