I've known about this for a while...back in March, when I was researching for new anime series.

"On November 9th, 2006, Madhouse Studios announced on their website that they will create an animated series based on Maple Story."

The online game first beta tested in Japan in August 2003 and today claims 1.4 million memberships there, mostly made up of those in their teens. The free, 2D, side-scrolling MMORPG boasts several versions of the game available for specific countries or regions and an estimated 50 million players have participated in all of its versions to date.

I'm wondering how Madhouse Studios is gonna pull this one off....but rest assure...Madhouse Studios ain't no amateur...they've been round since the 70's. :lol:

MapleStory DS (Nintendo DS...duh :P ) is to released worldwide in September 2007.......I'm soooo getting it. :lol:

Wow. This could really go either way. Characters look kind of nice and "cutesy".

I look forward to seeing what can be done with the concept.

OOOH i want to watch. I hope its interesting.

If this is anything like Ragnarok the Animation, I don't hold any hope for it.

Oh No Way! No Freakin Way! As long as they don't factor in just how annoying people apparently are online in the real game, it could be decent.... I suppose.

I doubt it. It's probably just a case of one fan misunderstanding information.

EDIT: Actually, I take that back. Check MADHOUSE's News archive. There was definitely talk of an animation version though the format wasn't announced at the time.

I'm not really a fan of this game, but the anime looks good. ^_^

Errr judging the premise of the game itself, the anime would probably be similarly targeted at kids.

I believed there is a Hentai anime by the same name.

Maplestory... I played until around level 40 and quitted. I think the scrolling game doesn't suit me despite its type (mmorpg) which is my favourite.

But I am curious as of how the anime turns out. A party training and completing quests and events? What about the nature? As in mmorpg (like hack sign) or only the storyline of maplestory?

wow haven't played maplestory for a while now, i stopped with 3 characters at lvl 50+...

The anime looks interesting.. Although the drawing style isn't very appealing.. Too cutesy for me..

I really hope they won't make the characters chibi size...

Honestly, I'm not quite sure how one is going to do this...if it's three dimensional, you cannot really call it Maple Story now...as that cuts out one of the three key characteristics of the game. The three being the two dimensional gameplay, beggars, and grinding (which isn't really part of this as most, if not all, MMORPGs have grinding traits).

why did they even made a MMORPG like this? Even SNES can accomodate the graphics and pixel. Oh well seems cuteness wins all the time that's why it turnred anime.

Ah, yes indeed... It would defeat the purpose of the 2d side scrolling feature.

Actually, I can't really think of how they could possibly stay faithful to the original game... Unless they adopt the pokemon: 'I want to be the very best' attitude and work with the bleach-ichigo syndrome by pitting the characters against increasingly powerful antagonists. This idea would be severely cliched, though.

Also, the fourth feature of the mmorpg would be the interaction between the other online players. I don't know how they are going to work around this either... The whole thing is just so... improbable.

Maple story and mmorpg....... I dont see a story... well there could be a story........ i guess...
