http://xs136.xs.to/xs136/09063/noti_lcanime105.jpg The Lost Canvas tells the story of the previous Holy war of the universe of Saint Seiya, taking place in the XVIII century, 250 years before the original manga. The story centers on the relation between Tenma, the Pegasus Saint and his beloved friend, Alone, who would eventually become his greatest enemy, Hades. The Manga started serializing on August 24, 2006 in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine, it currently has 119 chapters an ongoing, so we are more likely to see OVAs released through all the year, or in several parts like the Hades saga. it was surprising they replacing Dohko and Shion voice actors

Those character designs look so wrong for Saint Seiya

It is faithful to the artwork of The Lost Canvas manga that is not drawn by Kurumada.

Kinda strange, I never saw Seiya in this light. Didn't checked the manga ether, but this does look promising. I hope we got to see more female fighters that have larger role in the series.

I don't quite understand, I though that producer wanted to continue the series after Overture movie, like that movie was just a beginning of Heaven chapter, at least that is what I've heard.
In any case, I've checked some of the forums and there are good thoughts on this and it is nice to see some of the returning Gold Saints... actually I don't know if they have that status in here =) And yeah -Th-, I know that this isn't Seiya character, I meant Seiya as whole series. Sorry. |
The author was very unhappy with how Toei made the OVerture movie, thus he didn't want them to continue it. ;)
Still that Saint Seiya movie is a rumor, and should be taken of IMDB, but no one has done it yet =o |

And as you said, there were originals plans to have Overture be part of a trilogy, where Seiya after eventually beating Zeus, would move on to fight Chronos. There hasn't been any talk about this since 5 years ago, so it most likely has been scrapped. However Kurumada still plans on writing the Zeus chapter (and possibly the Chronos one too) in manga form after his current projects are done. So, since Lost Canvas are being animated there is a very high chance that we will have Next Dimension, Episode G and the future Zeus chapter on animated form. It will most likely depend on the success of LC's DVDs. And about the Live movie, as far as it remains in the IMDB, it remains as a strong rumor, and given the recent confirmations of some other animes into movies (Cowboy Bebop) and soon releases (Dragon Ball), there is a high chance that this is rumor is unfortunate true. |

But i guess this confirms that the OVA will really not start from the beginnig and we will be thrown directly into action. |
TMS Entertainment has revealed that Lost Canvas will have 13 episodes of 30 minutes each, no details on the distribution of the DVDs.
LC is being treated as the Prologue to Saint Seiya, even though Kurumada is not directly involved with the manga, and it is still unknown how are they going to tie up both stories, with Kurumada's Next Dimension, given the wishes of the author to have it animated as well. Anyway, these new screens were posted by TMS http://xs536.xs.to/xs536/09082/lostc...l_tms_1113.jpg |
considering it's the english version of the TMS website , Im sure they didnt really bother precising it's a spin-off or alternate dimension. But then again , it's never been explicitly said which of Lost Canvas and Next dimension is canon.
|
Actually the description for Vol.1 of ND says it is canon.
And Teshrogi has stated LC is a spin-off |
Well, that relieves any fears of TMS using Knights of the Zodiac for their international masters. :heh:
Anyways, I still have to wonder why they choose TMS to do this over Toei Animation. I have no issues (other than TMS's general tampering with international masters), just I find it strange to change a company that's worked on the series for many years to another. |
The art from the manga looks better than the anime's for LC. But a Saint Seiya movie? o_0 I can bear with DBZ and Cowboy Bepop live action, but I don't think I can handle a Saint Seiya movie.
|
I am actually interested, if just because I want to see how will they handele the cosmo fights in a live action, as opossed to your regular anime fights.

On chapter 121 of Lost Canvas released today, it has been revealed that the first DVD will hit stores in japan on June.
That is still part of the "spring" season I guess, even tho, that's a long wait :( Still no news on how many episodes will there be on each DVD. |
Hum , yeah they will probably do that . But since there are 13 episodes , it means one of the DVD will have a single episode. probably the first or the last DVD . I'm betting it's going to be the first DVD.
