Yea I now get the feeling things aren't going too well for Kurogane and we might see it end sooner rather than later but honestly I can say I wouldn't mind seeing it continue on for abit cause we got to the point where something of interest has finally cropped up and that is the "romance".
While it's only just kinda started and I even doubt it would be a big part of the series, I still kinda enjoy the Kuro X Tsubame interactions:p

Not sure what to make of new guy but I think it might intereting. Just have to wait and see.

Right now, I think the mangaka is going on a bit of a character introduction overload. I'm hoping this new guy is the last one introduced for a while so he can focus on actually developing the current characters, instead of weighing down the cast.

Nope, this one is doomed and it's days are numbered. Goes to show you what happens when you have a hot ass ghost like Sayuri, but you turn it into a freaking bromance instead. Maybe this would've fared better in WSM...

Bamboo Blade B is far more interesting than this one though...

It's in the bottom of the rankings and there's nothing else to cushion it. Add to the fact that it's sales are poor, it's doomed...

it is pretty low number 17 just below bleach and medaka box... hopefully it builds up a fan base before it gets dropped or moved to another publication.

Why so much time ?

Finally out of the boring past and into the present.

well after chap 39 it has gotten a lot better but however the popularity is still in the red zone... Once of the reason is that the author is limit Kurogane too much, for some one who do kendo myself, having Kurogane only able to counter is pretty much limit the technique he can pull off, in real kendo ,there is no problem whatsoever but in manga, thats a lot of problem since as people said, its make the fight become predictable.

There is also talk about the author attitude but i will omit that part here. And the biggest problem with this manga is the real kendoka attitude towards it. In japan, most kendoka( kendo practioners) don't like this manga because... well, in ichikai (a jap kendo forum) they said that this manga make some people have a defensive kendo and ruin their own kendo spirit and the worst is some people who only started kendo in about a year or months will tried to attempt Gyaku- Kasumi( kurogane pierce stance) and O - Kasumi( just the reverse, in real kendo, Kurogane stance is the reversed one) and this stance is pretty much limited to sensei with 6 dan or higher( equilvalent to 15 - 20 years of trainning or even higher) due to to its nature as kenjutsu and too hard to control( there do exist exception but there is no one who attempt it with just a few months worth of experience like kurogane) so while i agree with you guys that this manga is quite enjoyable, the popularity in Japan is really down and it have a huge chance of being cancelled.

Looks like in issue 41 Kurogane has jumped up to number 9 ... think its enough to save it or too little too late?

As i said before, kurogane got a lot better from chap 39 onwards( chap 49 bromance is awesome BTW) ,but even now, its still considered dangerous, well Kurogane will continue on for now due to the next cancellation meeting is in november or october if i remember correctly and for now takamagahara(you knows ... touma copy) and a few other series is much more close to being axed so don't worry too much.
