Fighting Animes

I'm looking for an anime that has a lot of fighting. It would be nice if there was comedy involved as well. :p

Recently I started watching Koukaku no Regios, which is basically just a fighting anime with no humor at all. (my opinion!) But I really like it, so I figured comedy isn't that necessary after all.

There are two more animes I love in this genre, and that's Fairy Tail and Naruto. Those two is probably my favorites, because they aren't to serious all the time, has a lot of funny moments and clumsy main characters. Still, they can touch you deeply sometimes (or is it just me? ;))

So, as you can see, my taste is quite .. different. I like a lot of different stuff, so whatever you got, share it with me ^^

THOUGH, I have one condition. I don't wan't any main characters that look like they are from some romantic Shouju manga. For example - DNAngel is a sample of what I don't like.
And also - Bleach. I don't know why, since it's really popular and so, but I just can't stand it.

And no over muscled idiots either .. normal proportions thanks you ^^ :heh: (ex. Dragon Ball)

Please bear with me and all my requests ;)

One of my favourite fighting/comedy series is History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. However, the manga is way better than the anime.

Others are;

Busou Renkin - if you like Koukaku no Regios, then you'll like this. I always pair these two up.
Kaze no Stigma
Shikabane Hime: Aka
Sekirei

Also see this thread, as the OP has very similar tastes to you I think. Many of suggestions in there may crop up in here.

A list of action anime:

Black Lagoon (english dub recommended)
Kara no Kyoukai
Baccano! (english dub recommended)
To Aru Majutsu no Index
CANAAN
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD
Katanagatari (although it's quite dialogue heavy at times, especially in the beginning)
Macross Frontier (as the story progresses)
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha (the second season is excellent)
Sky Girls (as the story progresses)
Kiddy Grade
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

With these conditions I can't believe you haven't given One Piece a try yet.

Do yourself a favor and begin the manga ASAP.~

Yea def have to check out One Piece, altho people tend to be off by the art.
I would recommend the anime but if your not up to the task(400+ eps atm) then I'd also advise to read the manga instead.

I also 2nd

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
Black Lagoon
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Busou Renkin
Kaze no Stigma
Canaan

I'd also recommend

Soul Eater
Sengoku Basara
Needless

I'd definitely recommend Sekirei! It's more romance/comedy thank fighting, but there's a fight every episode.

Seconded HSDKenichi, and adding Law of ueki for similarities. both are nice in my opinion.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is one of the best in fighting + story + some humor type anime so if you'll like you can try that too.

But for really dark sort of action anime that will not make you smile but will put you in an awe, I recommend Claymore.

One Piece - Just like SilverSyko and Bonta Kun said, you have to check out One Piece. It has great humor, wackiness, creative fights, a lovable cast of characters, and a deep storyline involving themes of: dreams, friendship, power, greed, and corruption (just to name a few).

Kinnikuman - I encourage not only you, but other people to read this classic. It's one of the most influential mangas in shonen history. You have a clumsy/cowardly/idiotic superhero who has to wrestle against powerful super villains in order to sustain peace. In times of real crisis, Kinnikuman proves he's a true hero who'll never give up with unwavering determination. Lots of humor & gags in the story, but at the same time it can get quite violent/serious. Give it a shot.

Yu Yu Hakusho - If you like Dragon Ball, chances are you'll like this. I'd recommend the anime (112 episodes total) over the manga. The dub is my preference; it's really good.

Oh, and I forgot....

Ga-Rei Zero... manga and animes are good to best IMO

Yeah, somehow I never got myself to watch it. Gonna give it a shot, though ^^

Fairy Tail and Naruto are favourites? Then these are definitely in
1) Busou Renkin
2) Full Metal Alchemist - Brotherhood is preferable, but the 1st series is definitely good recommendation as well.
3) Soul Eater
4) Classic choice - What, no Dragon Ball yet? :D

I cannot vote for OP (I cant stand the art), nor can I vote for Hunter x Hunter (I hate Gon with a passion!), but these 2 should be within your required specification as well

Samurai Champloo, Seirei no Moribito and Samurai 7 could be considered as candidates as well, but they would be considered lacking in humor department. But do watch the first 2 for awesome story and swordfight choreography ..

don't let small thing hold you from seeing this great anime :D

Hakouki Kitan Shinsengumi, both seasons.

Both very action-oriented, and some comedy (albeit usually short-lived) comedy on the side. Normal proportions.

Busou Renkin and Black Lagoon have already been mentioned, so I'll say if you don't mind mecha try Gundam 00, both seasons. Again, normal proportions.

KiNA 2010-12-14 01:55

Shinsengumi would fall to his negative condition, which is

I have always heard a lot about One Piece, but just like many others I've been turned off by the art. Just recently I watched a few episodes, and I have to agree. It's really stupid to not look at OP just because the art is bad. U get used to it, and the story itself is really good! :heh:

I recomend OP to everyone, really. Take this advice from someone who's been hating One piece for over a year! ;)

JRendell 2010-12-16 13:23

It's too daunting a task to pick up watching OP now for me; I'm way too far behind, and there's so much more that I need to watch/read.

I'd suggest you read the manga to catch up a lot quicker. There are currently 608 chapters, and I know you can do it because other people have marathoned through it from the beginning. Trust me, you won't be disappointed ;).
