My girlfriend is the president

An interesting new game in development, 幼なじみは大統領 or as the Japanese translate themselves “My Girlfriend is the President” (technically should be 'childhood friend' but that's Engrish for you).

Anyway, what makes this game so interesting is that it also features a lovely silver haired president of Russia. Color me intrigued.

My only regret is that I can't read a word Japanese, which will make playing this game rather challenging. Any help translating the plot summary and profiles would be most appreciated.

The plot is as hilarious as you'd expect from such a title. One morning, when the protagonist woke up as usual, he found that the house next door was the White House. And his next door childhood friend had become the president of Japan. As turned out, an alien came to the earth to establish diplomatic relations with the earth. But the spaceship crashed on the official residence of the ministers and killed them by accident.
So, the alien put a girl up for the president instead of them and brainwashed all the Japanese into believing she was the president all along. That girl is a childhood friend of the protagonist. But the alien didn't know much about Japan, so she established presidential system by mistake.
The protagonist becomes the vice-president and supports the president, trying to get back the former Japan.

Translation taken from Akiba Hiroi (A lovely japanese dude, it's worth following his blog)
Spoiler for story synopsis:
I must say, it sounds quite original :) .

Her name appears to be Irina Vladimirovna Putina, nicknamed Pu-chin. Ahem :)

Admit it, everyone wanted to have intimate moments with Putin himself. Now here's your chance! :heh: .
Just look at him, isn't he MOE?

(I hope the KGB isn't going to send spetznatz against me for saying that)

With a title like that, I couldn't help but click on this thread. :D The premise is interesting, but do you actually get to do something to take back Japan or is it all talk talk talk like normal visual novels?

izmosmolnar 2009-07-03 07:13

It's quite likely it'll be a Visual Novel.
The parent company, Alcot haven't done anything else besides VNs. A list from their past products.

MeganeShounen 2009-07-03 09:29

You can always trust the Japanese to make a series out of ANY topic. Included media would be anime, manga and games like this.

I wonder if Obama's recent(?) election into the White House has any hand into molding this game?
*remembers the Obama references in To Aru Majutsu no Index and the Air Gear manga*

Thought the plot blurb was quite hilarious. Depending on when it comes out and other releases in that month, I'll probably check it out since I liked ALcot's previous works. And ya, it's a VN.

The president of Japan lives in the White House?
And Japan even has a president??
By the by, I'm liking the colors.

Sugar_Prayer 2009-07-03 20:39

It looks very cute!! ^_^

Is it an H game? (Since most visual novels are...)

I pondered the idea of putting either the japanese or 'visual novel' in the title, but this was just too much fun to pass up. :p

Ah, thanks for the link. I'll add the summary to the top post.

Man i hope its better then their Fair Child, which is the only game from them that i play and it was horrible.

Xion Valkyrie 2009-07-04 17:52

So how does the plot explain the other presidents also being replaced by girls?

I'd beg to differ. I thought Fair Child had decent themes and while some routes did fall short and some drama was overdone, it was quite enjoyable. Its light feel isn't for everyone though.

(If you played Tobari route though, I'd agree: It was horrible)

Funny i like Tobari the most out of the cast but i also agree that her route was the worst.(Maybe thats was tigger me to to hate main character so much). But well everyone taste is different if I remember correctly only route i can stomach to finish completely was Sakuya while other i tend to skip when its so damn easy to guess was going to happen or the character is too annoying to bear.Though the game does have good music and nice art which what drew me into it the first place but it doesn't entertain well enough to call it good or average.

Fortunately they did not put Mikheil Saakashvili, president of Georgia. I'm sure she kick Putin's ass for sure if Saakashvili were there.

EDIT: There's a typo at the official website where "Russia" was written as "Rusia" instead.

Apparently our lovely Russian president, Irina Vladimirovna Putina, is the daughter of Putin. The other girls are the Chief of Staff and (here it gets funny) a 'spaceship.'

I'm still thinking they meant she is the alien responsible for this mess, but without translations of the profiles I can't say for certain.

SaintessHeart 2009-07-05 07:57

This has got to be the most ridiculous storyline since Little Busters.

Bah, who cares if it is moe loaded. Who knows if this is going to make into an anime.
