After 10 years of not even looking at gunpla... I'm addicted now lol. Just ordered a bunch of 1/144... Man I gotta keep my spending under control lol.

Damn.
=P

Which 1/144 HG kits did you buy? Also, at least your "addiction" isn't quite as bad as mine since my thing is MG kits and 1/100 NG kits, and then if there's isn't one of those for what I want, I get the HG kit..

>_<

I splurged recently at GG Infinite and got 9 HG kits... But only 8 arrived. The other 1 they forgot to pack in and should be arriving soon. But what I did get:

HG 1/144 Exia R2
HG 1/144 Avalanche Dash Exia
HG 1/144 O Gundam (Type ACD)
HG 1/144 O Gudam (Roll Out Colors)
HG 1/144 Reborns Gundam
HG 1/144 1.5 Gundam
HG 1/144 Genoace Custom ---> should be arriving soon
HG 1/144 G-Exes
HG 1/144 G-Bouncer

>_<

Yea. That's what I call a splurge, but I probably won't get any GunPla for a little bit aside from a MG Age-2 Normal, MG Age- Double Bullet, MG Age-3 Normal, MG Age-3 Fortress, MG Age-3 Orbital... and then the JackEdge and DarkHound (either in MG and if not then a HG) and then that new guy.. Gundam AGE-FX either in MG and if that is not done the HG..

>_<

vektar 2012-06-06 18:10

Vektars HG AGE-3

I just did a review on the HG Age 3 Normal ^_^ please feel free to check it out and give me your opinions. Im actually pretty proud of this kit, i think it came out very well. After building this kit im very much so looking forward to the release and build of the Orbital.

I'm the same, only got into it again last year, after like 13 years absence.

Totally gets to you and you just wanna buy buy buy!:uhoh::twitch::heh:

Good thing I decided to save my money recently, hopefully this 15th anniversary of HLJ is a good one!

Providenceangle 2012-06-06 20:34

@Nike: Kyrios, Arios, 0 Gundam, Age 1 Sparrow(spallow), RG Char zaku. Worse part is, I've already bought RG freedom, HG buster, MG age-1 normal... And before that I got the MG Infinite Justice and hg GM custom. That's a lot for 2 months lol.

@Bonta Kun: Yeah... It's super addictive. I must admit I prefer HG kits. The size and lower cost is nice. They've come a long way as well. With a little bit of tweaking, you can get MG quality.

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2012-06-06 21:12

Buying Gunpla is addictive indeed, but I’m glad I can control my urge to just buying 2 items per-month. Even with that, my backlog has been growing more and more .

And yeah, HGs are nice especially those you can’t get the MG version like Blue Destiny series, Harmony of Gundam, Hazel series, and some appear-out-of-nowhere HGs like FA Gundam 7th.

My backlog breached the 50 marker yesterday when i got an interest in AGE Grunt suits :(

Hg's are better then nothing when you like sideMS or grunt suits, as they rarely get an MG or RG treatment, even for some more popular side MS like the seed Lagowe or the M1 astray we had to wait nearly 10 years to get a simple HG!!!

Bandai should stop making motionless 1/144 non-HG kits, they are a waist of time and energy i.m.o.. I love how in AGE nearly every grunt suits get an 1/144 HG! I wish they would have done that in seed/seed destiny.

P.S. are there people who just make models of a certain color or design (like only zaku's or only GM's, etc.)? I think yes and do they have any nice colelction pictures ;)?

Yup, HG's are mainly dedicated for those grunt suits.

Yup. Tbh, some cheap bootleg kits sold on the streets here are on par (or even better) than Bandai's No Grade 1/144.

I think you'll find a lot of blogs of it. Just type on google something like "Zaku modeller" or "Black MS collector" etc.

Providenceangle 2012-06-07 07:06

Yeah google is your friend. It's why I got back into gunpla. I saw all the crazy stuff people were doing and had to try it for myself.

Grunt suits deserve love too. Sadly Bandai usually doesn't give them the same treatment as gundams. Though they are getting better, the gm custom was a big surprise for me. The build was fun and had good articulation.

The only sad part is, I find myself wanting to modify almost every MS I buy. I should probably invest in two kits. Expensive, yes, but at least I would be able to have the original to display. Of course part of me says "Well the custom ones you've made are cooler, they are personalized just for you". Kinda double edged sword lol.

In this thread, maknaedik has a gallery of red suits.

For those who like to keep the suits in scale (comparisons, diorama), the 1/144 HG selection is a gunpla bonanza. That was even before the RG.

Yeah. I'm even tempted to buy suits that I don't like. Such as the Unicorn Destroy mode.

Given that AGE is following the trend of First -> Z -> ZZ I wouldn't be surprised when a Funnel-equipped main suit would appear. Maybe in the inevitable Gundam AGE movie you'd see a main suit with Wings of Light and/or be able to equip multiple Wears.

I want to get a flag and a few others so, I'll get the ones I like from the series. *sigh* Then I have to worry about the age series lol.

I pride myself on not having an addictive personality... So much for that lol.

Little side project:

I must admit that many of Vagan's suits are pretty original in their designs......until I saw Ghirarga :uhoh:.

Providenceangle 2012-06-08 22:00

That's a pretty bold generalization. Just because it has a sectional whip weapon, it's a ripoff of the Epyon? The Epyon didn't even pioneer that weapon. It's just an interesting design so they used it.

Must admit the AGE series isn't really creative. Nor is it geared toward old school fans. It like most gundams, it's made to create a reason to sell bandai kits. It's been like that for the most part. Just think of the last few gundam series, including wing. There are like 20 gundams! And with 00 and Age there are even more. (00 having 12 just for the main 4 characters, and age having 3 so far with adaptations.)

I like all the gunpla without a doubt, but it is kinda sad to see so much stuff just shoveled out there.

Of course I know that Epyon isnít the first to use ďwhipĒ as a weapon, but it surely the first to use ďfeather-like whipĒ which is copied by this Ghirarga. Itís even attached to the butt just like Epyon in MA mode (and itís red). But, nevermind. I guess Iím just upset that Ghirargaís design looks worse than the previous Zeydra and copied a signature weapon of another popular MS to boot. This series is partly meant as a tribute anyway, right? So..... yeah, nevermind.

Providenceangle 2012-06-08 22:36

Opinions are perfectly valid. I'm not bashing you. Nor or you wrong for feeling the way you do.

I can only see that as a similar design aspect. It is true though. They had the chance to make that suit much more aggressive looking, and fell short.

casval cehack 2012-06-09 03:55

Saw this while rummaging for marked-down gunplas in our local hobby shop...
http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/2...ffectpart1.jpg
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/7...ffectpart2.jpg.
They do look weird standalone, but the fit with RG Freedom is ok (a little heavy for posing). The clear plastic feels rough and cheap though, but I got it for around $2.

aeriolewinters 2012-06-09 03:58

the blue ones are wrong, they need red lines on the inside

I think that’s asking a little too much for a $2 product :heh:.

And yeah, I ask about it some pages ago, but when I figured out how it really looks and feels (I went to a hobby-store), I didn’t like it. Personally, I think the effects looks silly. I’d better leave the beam effects to my imagination :D.

Questions for Red x Blue Frame Astray...

Does the Lohengrin Launcher fit on Red Frame as a skirt armor? Or any part of the body? I haven't build my Red frame kai astray and thinking of buying the canon individually.

Sorry if Iím mistaken, but are you talking about the Lohengrin Launcher conversion kit used for 1/100 Astray Blue Frame (ABF) 2nd L? If you are, I donít think the Lohengrin will fit the MG ARF Kai since both have really different skirt armor design. One noticable difference is thereís no hole on the side skirt of the MG ARF. I have 1/100 ABF 2nd L & also just finished my MG ARF Kai, btw. What a coincidence ^^.

Speaking of MG ARF Kai, I think Iíll share some pics here:
http://i.imgur.com/EPemL.jpg

Spoiler for I swear, this guy has so many forms it drives me nuts:

Appel 2012-06-09 14:36

the design of the astray line in general is just so damn cool... im so glad to have my PG red frame^^ its sword is SO darn huge, i love it! :O
and nice job on your astrays as well! you actually managed to pose it very nicely in all of its forms!

Well, Perfect Grade ARF is... well..., perfect. What can you say :D?

And thanx. Still, configuring each form of the MG ARF is not as enjoyable as it looks, you know :uhoh:. But it looks great and the Tactical Arms II is pretty solid, so yeah, it's really worth it.

Btw Appel, why don't you get yourself MG ARF & ABF? The ARF Kai is great, and I plan to buy MG ABF after I'm done with Shenlong & Deathscythe (yeah, still two more to go to complete the Wing series :heh:).

i dont buy them because i already have the PG red frame^^ im no huge fan of buying models of the same machine multiple times. sometimes i make exceptions (like with the unicorn and the original gundam) but other than that i dont like to do that.
besides, if i would do that id run out of shelf space even quicker! XD

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of buying Blue just because I love having multipurpose weapons. I'll hold on Blue for a while.

I do have RF but I haven't build it yet. I assume that they're identical in one way or the other which I'm hoping for the same attachment parts.

Thanks again!

Obelisk, is that the MG Astray Red Frame? It looks really good! As an archer myself, I love that badass bow. Thinking of picking it up! Hopefully I'll be able to find one for cheap at a local hobby shop.

Yes it is :). There's only one kind of MG ARF which also comes with Tactical Arms. It is good looking and solid, but as I said before, configuring it to each forms needs patience. Still, this kit worth your money (especially if you bought it with bargain price, like me :D)

Really, you're an archer? Wow, how does shooting with a bow feels? Is it heavy or easy? Have you compete in some kind of tournaments?

@Ikaoru
Just to make it clear: MG ABF 2nd Revise is different from 1/100 ABF 2nd L.
The design of MG ARF Kai is similar to MG ABF 2nd Revise while the 1/100 ABF 2nd L is different from MG ARF Kai's design.
You can check dalong.net for more comparison. I hope this help ^_^.
