Ep 01
I thought that that was a VERY good first episode! Color me very intrigued and interested to see where the story is going to take us. Especially am interested to learn more about the MC - I already kinda like him. A very good performance by the VA in my opinion. Ayup. Following this one! The ED was also kinda sweet-souled. |
Adored it, loved it, wouldn't change a frame of it.

They... they got an actual politician to do the preview... What is this, Gatchaman Crowds IRL? :heh: They're really taking promoing Kagawa thing seriously.
Anyway, this was pretty good, with a nice nostalgic tone and a dash of sadness, and it was done well, without being too on-the-nose about Souta's issues. I kind of expected to see more focus on the little tanuki, but it was more about Souta, which was nice. Also, I don't know who keeps casting Nakamura in hot single dad(/father figure) roles, but I just want to say: GOOD JOB! I really appreciate it. :heh: His voice quality and acting works so well in these roles (funnily enough, since this is not even his natural voice). |
Felt the voices sounded a bit too young for cast of 30 year old range.
Found it funny that obviously the main character has some drama and complex about udon in his past, and everything he comes across is udon udon, and every person keeps talking to him about wanting to taste udon lol. Glad the kid turned out to be a tanuki. Was afraid it was going to turn out to be an illegitimate kid of his father or something he didn't know of, so he decides to raise it up instead, and then eventually getting into a relationship with it 10-12 years later. |

Fun fact, Poko is also appointed as Udon-ken "kuishinbo" dept. chair in charge of PR (うどん県食いしん坊広報部長) :heh: |
It's interesting enough and touches on food, hereditary and relationship issues. The art style fits the material presented perfectly. Will be following this to see where it takes us.

Tanuki Udon anyone? Enjoyed the first episode. Will follow this series...even though it makes me hungry and want to eat udon. :heh: |
Episode 1
This was pretty good. It's the Amaama to Inazuma of Fall. Pretty similar stuff. The two will be bonding over food and Souta will give the kid the feeling of not being alone and loved by someone. Souta's family runs and udon restaurant and they were pretty popular among the locals. But after his dad died they closed up and Souta is looking after the place for the time being. And he meets a mysterious kid who turns out to he a Tanuki. Souta sees himself in the kid as he was jumping around in his raincoat. And the thing the shrine guy said is going to have some effect on him as he'll be wanting to give the kid someone to make him not feel lonely. And apart from that, everyone was expecting some good udon but is getting disappointed one by one so he might consider opening up again especially considering he now has his father's recipe book. The OP and ED were pretty cool. This was a pretty strong episode and I'm going to be continuing even though my Saturdays are looking quite full. |

Boy? Girl? Either way, if it's a tanuki, you better believe it'll have an impressive pair of balls.
