YES it finally happened!

Visual novel Rewrite is getting a TV anime adaptation! It was announced after the Charlotte's final episode. The studio will be 8-bit. Other staff includes:

I just want to remind all the source readers again, as usual, to avoid spoilers in this thread. I'll allow the previous one because... well, yeah... but if you want to get into in-depth speculation about how they'll adapt the anime based on your game knowledge, please go to the game thread instead.


All in all, while I'm sure some won't agree with every direction they decide to take (no matter what they do), I'm quite sure that Visual Art's is incredibly aware of fan demands and expectations, as always, and wouldn't have greenlit the production if their basic expectations weren't going to be met. With Visual Art's staff working directly on the story planning, they're taking as much of a roll in ensuring its success as anyone might expect. For now I think all anyone can do is wait and see.

The animation doesn't look exactly fantastic by any mean. It is mostly smeared animation for gag scenes, and doesn't represent properly what it will be for other scenes. For instance, the profile shot with Akane around 0:38 is awkward for a simple movement.

More importantly, for what's worth, the design is particularly plain considering the very bland colors and the absurd absence of "texture", which is quite evident with the character hairs.


The website has been updated, and the character cuts are...as dry as the PV was.

As expected, director just confirmed that anime will contain anime original route, developed a supervised by Romeo and Kai.

According to recent interviews with Romeo Tanaka, the series was originally planned to be a direct adaptation, but over time the direction shifted toward a more liberal adaptation as original developments were introduced.
Tanaka mentions that the early part of the series will closely resemble the original visual novel, but toward the middle of the series it will begin to deviate significantly from the original story.

The anime will feature a 6th route that is not part of the original game according to this tweet earlier today.

Although somewhat related, but there has been confirmation that the Rewrite visual novel has been licensed for English release.

Also, has anyone noticed the Aniplex logo in the Rewrite website? Do you guys think that Aniplex USA will license the Rewrite anime?
