It was cool to finally see the Yanagi dude that they talked about last episode, the other Flash Cast user of Tatsuya's military group. Although he didn't use FC this time since there was no real need to.

Funny on how Tatsuya was just like "sure, show off the flying sequence that I just revealed a month back or so!". It was like he just gave up on laying low already. :heh:

How dare they steal his flying jutsu!

Yanagi is not Flash Cast user, because that is Yotsuba technique ;). Let's say translation worded it wrongly :heh:

Next episode should be fun in evil way :)

It may be a translation mistake, but the military officer said that Yanagi "commands the same skillset". And you might consider being careful in putting out LN information here. The mods have basically banned all LN talk in anime threads. ;)

There are 4 school in a match and there is totally 3 matches. Iwonder how did they arrange the tournament matches.

Leaking the information to the other schools was definitely cheating. On the other hand, as we learned back when Tatsuya had Taurus test the thing, it drains energy too fast for ordinary people to use it for very long. The other kids wiped themselves out trying to keep up with Miyuki. Pretty funny, really.

We get to see Tatsuya's dark side. And Kirahara though that Tatsuya's killing intent when they were confronting Blanche was bad.

Boring episode, basically just a set up episode. The art/animation was pretty bad too...

I think the competition level competitors can handle the stress of using the device. But not after some training first. I bet they never knew it drained energy that fast in the first place. Miyuki was the first person to use the device, so she has ample experience ... in addition to her crazy magical power.

Yep, Tatsuya and his military comrades are going to crush the No Head Dragons. At least those guys that are in Japan.

Didn't Taurus say that the original design was really only useful for people like Tatsuya and Miyuki, who had crazy-high psion counts? As I recall from the technobabble descriptions at various points, each time you change directions it's a new activation sequence, and each activation sequence costs psions. Taurus believed he could get the hardware to do more of the processing to cut down on the amount of psions required per sequence, but it would still be a constant drain. We don't have any reason to believe he's come up with a version to do that yet, so Miyuki is probably using the original design, which is really only useful for her and Tatsuya if you want more than a couple of minutes of flight.

They REALLY wanted to emphasize Tatsuya having reptilian eyes when he's angry, didn't they.

Definitely makes him not look so human.

Nothing much happening, to think all this time we just been watching the Rookie competitions, and the Main competitors haven't even done anything yet.

The generator thing was okay. I liked the redirection thing the guy used, and how the magic circles appeared on him.

I thought the audio for cheering for Miyuki was a little too loud. Seems this series has a lot of 'laughtrack' clips of the same exact cheer for everything lol, and among other general exclamations.

Miyuki was in the main Mirage Bat.

Actually the main competitors have done some matches - Battle Board, Speed Shooting and the odd shooting based Tennis game were all shown in earlier eps. Tatsuya was primarily the engineer for the 1st year women's side of things (although he did fill in as Engineer to help Saegusa in her Tennis shooting game thing). All of these were shown or referenced in earlier eps, if I remember correctly.

That being said, ep 17 was a decent adaptation for me. It was nice to see Miyuki soaring through the skies like that. ^^

But Tatsuya is definitely a tad bit miffed at the possible threat on Miyuki's life, it seems...

What idiots are the No Head Dragon group to expose themselves to that big of a loss. Their bookies really can't be that stupid can they?

I think the implication is 'We just spike First High's wheel and Bob's your uncle'. Sadly for them, Teenage Batman is presently in First High, so it's not going to work so well for them.

In a nutshell, they got greedy and figured they could arrange a loss. They can't with Tatsuya around.
