And to no-one's surprise it's yet another high-school romance drama... :heh: With a band setting.

I haven't read the manga, to me it always looked like one of the usual teen melodramas except this time with trendy music (now our heroine is in a band being really cool! with two cool boys as band members!), but maybe I'll take a look. Although the official website is not that inspiring (it's the kind of art that makes me bored by just looking at it). By the way, it seems that one of the characters has been voiced by Ono Daisuke before.

(And I freely admit that Kamijou Atsushi's To-y completely ruined all other "young people make a band" manga for me. It's just so good and has such a great atmosphere. Plus, eighties JPop/JRock, aww yes.)

I did, and I don't know who is going to win both male leads are good and strong characters in their own, MC seems to like both of them too, can't even pick which one is better, will feel sorry for any of them who does not get chose.

The story is cliched only for those people who does not bother to go in through actually reading it, I see good reviews from those who did actually reading it. I was pleasently surprised when I tried reading, unfortunately only 38 chap are out translated so far though I see other site have it until latest chapters but only invited members allowed to access.

This image basically depicts what the show will be about. They are in band but not just your average high school light music band who wants to make it big, they already have actual professional musician career, so far it is more about their professional career as musicians, not really about them being cool and doing cool things I don't think masked bands supposed to be cool. Also it is a shoujo so it will have different perspective than other band manga.

Also what with the talk about yuri it only has two important female characters from 6 main, 4 are guys. This is shoujo manga.

New cast:
Daisuke Ono as Haruyoshi
Ayahi Takagaki as Miou
Jun Fukuyama as Kuro

Ep 01

Admittedly while I do tend to enjoy shoujo stories I came to this series with some reservations, but the first ep was not so bad. At least it was enough for me to give the next ep or two a try. ^^

Episode 1:

This was fun. We got a band with shoujo elements at a school life setting.

The main female character is somewhat unusual with the way she dresses with that facemask. However, I think Nino could be an interesting character. The music content itself is okay, not overly impressive but fun to listen to. I find it amusing how Nino was singing with the band in her way.

They introduced most of the characters by the looks of it too. It's interesting to also see a little bit of Nino's past so I expect to see more of it as this show progress. As one of the very few shoujos this season, I'm really curious to see how they plan to develop the story.

That was nothing, the occurrence of 'twinkle twinkle little star' gave me horrible Bang Dream flashbacks!

Intriguing, interested to see where it's going, but at least the main song was somewhat different from the usual 'school band' fare.

Hmm, interesting. It felt both quite "shoujo"-ish at times but also "wild". Bit heavy on the melodrama for my tastes but interesting enough that I want to see where it goes from here.

The last song, and the CGI in the middle, were a bit poor, but the rest of the music was nice. The character interactions seem fresh and interesting, but love triangles (squares?) can becomes less than interesting.

Draco Spirit 2017-04-11 17:37

Well that was.... different I guess? Seems likely to be one of those romance shows you need a piece of paper to explain it to others with a heavy focus on music, with a punky center that not afraid to use other genres as well.

I'm getting this is aimed at girls first and foremost, but as a guy I still think I be giving episode 2 a go at least.

The opening scene was handled poorly. There shouldn't be an inner monologue telling us exactly what thing is happening when they can just show her looking at the guy or let her expressions do they talking. They assume we are stupid and can't guess that she is obviously passionate about her voice. Waste of time for them to write this and it detracted from what they were going for here.
During the concert, another inner monologue about what she's feeling from the song instead of letting the scene speak for itself. Not a great start, we already know there's more 'people talking to themselves' to come.

The transitions between happy, sad, and comedy moments are abrupt, and there's no reason to have a heartfelt scene between characters we don't know yet.
They decided to give Yuzu and Alice (but nobody else) giant lower eyelashes that resemble mascara.. Lol. Also, they expect use to believe these guys are master musicians, and Alice and Yuzu all of a sudden start getting along; guy is tsundere is heck.
Too many characters introduced in episode 1 who are not exapnded upon or at least give any meaning to the show at all. Another problem is they continuously show sentimental moments but, for some reason, do not understand that we don't know about them nor give a crap at this point in time. This thing's a mess; easest drop of the season so far.
