Plot summary : The romantic comedy story revolves around an antisocial high school student named Hachiman Hikigaya with a distorted view on life and no friends or girlfriend. When he see his classmates talking excitedly about living their adolescent lives, he mutters, "They're a bunch of liars." When he is asked about his future dreams, he responds, "Not working." A teacher gets Hachiman to join the volunteer "service club," which happens to have the school's prettiest girl, Yukino Yukinoshita.

Note : Watari launched the light novel series with illustrations by Ponkan8 last year, and the fifth volume is shipping on July 18.

sounds very generic, still wondering if there will be something to set this apart; it's kinda sad that in this genre, the level of fanservice is what makes most of those series shine.

The story is similar to Haganai where it focuses on a bunch of guys with no friends, but unlike Haganai, it was told from a philosophical manner where the characters have to build up their own ideas while developing their relationships each other as the story quickly progresses, which is something "realistic".

Light novel and its only on its fifth volume and its already getting an anime? I haven't heard of this one yet but will still look out for it.

That's the cast of the GJ-bu anime, not this. I suspect Takuya Eguchi may be the lead here, since he appears to be quite friendly with the author on Twitter.

Thank you for clearing that up for me as well... But curiously after some digging, the Japanese wiki for this series does indeed have Takuya Eguchi voicing the Protagonist, Hikigaya Hachiman.

I'm looking forward to this pretty much because Seven (of SeventhStyle) thought it was a splendid romantic comedy LN. I am yet to read the manga of this, and I hope it might stands out the generic romcoms as well.

Picture me surprised. To be honest, I have been avoiding his blog, since he has a tendency to diss 95% of all anime out there, and he recently did a major dump on OreShura (naturally not knowing a single thing about it, as he admitted), but he declared this one to be good? This is particularly amusing since this show is quite similar to OreShura in many aspects...

Anyway, I'm happy that it gets an anime. Now there's just hoping for a good conversion!
