The schedule for workshops has been updated:
http://www.anime-expo.org/downloads/...mming_v1_1.pdf
And will be held on the following days:
7-9 PM Saturday
6-8 PM Sunday
4:30-6:30 PM Monday

And ff you are going to AX this year, stop on by and say hi, or if you want to learn the techniques I use, stop on by and pull up a chair!

I'd answer some questions, but I'm afraid pics would come later - I dont have my camera right now.

*The stand just merely inserts into the thruster hole at the back of ∞ Justice. It doesnt really clip on to anything. You just slip it in the hole and the Gundam just sits there

*Yeah, the backpack can be down while its on the stand, but its slightly tilted because the stand is obviously in the way. It doesn't look too bad though. I'll post a pic of this tuff pose I had with the backpack down and the Gundam crossing beam sabers (its the original Justice pose).

*Those arent wings of light on my Destiny Gundam. It's wings of paper, lol. As for materials, I used scissors and paper (and also a light pencil to outline the shape).

*With just the shield itself, yes, its not that heavy and you can keep the arm raised. However, if the left hand is holding the rifle, the beam sword is on and the beam shield is on all at once, of course it adds on a bit of weight and you might have just a little bit of trouble, lol but its still possible to keep it raised for certain chop chop poses

Akyra 2006-06-19 22:59

Used paper?...but that looked pretty good...sometimes, i really dun get why Bandai wouldn't release those extra plastic WoL like the 1/144 parts...i mean, we are already paying it for it, an extra 5 bucks wouldn't hurt if you include the extra WoL...

anyone knows how to make destiny impulse?

kct 2006-06-19 23:56

That's...a lot.

I found someone that created almost a Destiny Impulse, save for the beam cannons (he used some other beam cannons). The website was hacked, so I hope I can get pictures of those later.

That is like the one shown in the Astray shorts. Awesome.

Silent Soldier 2006-06-21 09:31

That Astray Red Frame looks great.

Akyra 2006-06-21 09:52

Hmmm, the frame looks great, I think the guy the wings wrong...I am no physicist, but shouldn't the flat bit of the wing be at the bottom...cos atm, the wings on the backpack is not creating lift, it's creating downforce...

But nonetheless, I want that backpack...

Nesty 2006-06-21 12:05

it looks fantastic O_O kool bacus head addition heeh

There's always this option: http://www.anime-expo.org/index.php?..._from=&ucat=2&
AX plans on streaming filmed events. Not sure if they'll film the workshops or anything. A friend of mine, who is an AX staffer, said they were tasked with filming, so he would try filming my workshop.... whether or not it gets streamed will be another thing... but would be kinda cool if it was streamed.

J_Ridden 2006-06-21 12:54

Nice job, I'm thinking about getting my I-J next week, I just hope I'll find the correct color for the body. I'll try to paint in silver the knee/elbow joints and hands too.
Aren't the beam blades on the wings of the backpack originaly smooth?

OmegaZEROCustom 2006-06-21 13:56

Looks good. Since you said nearly complete, I assume the missing green on the torso will be put on soon.

J_Ridden, yeah, tehy are smooth, so I'm wondering how subaruhess added taht texture. I have an idea I might try but I'm a bit hesitant, so I'm curious how it was done.

Nesty 2006-06-21 14:23

good job there man ^_^ looks sweet.

hey gamerab, if it gets streamed that would be fantastic, i'd love to see you how u make ur models look so damn good.

Its actually the beam blade edges from another 1/100 destiny kit. I had a trashed 1/100 sword impulse (trashed because it fell 2m from my top shelf cracked like china :( ). I salvaged the only surviving parts from that kit, the beam swords.

Coincidentally those clear beam blades for the 1/100 sword Silhouette fit perfectly in space for the beam cutters for the subflight lifter. I trimmed one side off and it fitted perfectly, looks much nicer than the flat ones. How can these even pass for being beam edges? You could also use the shield beam blade from the 1/100 providence to replace the flat plastic beam for the shield since both are exactly the same length. Just swapping parts from other kits can make big difference to its appearance.

ryan123 2006-06-21 19:58

guys what PG would u recommend? Zeta MK or Strike? Since mg zeta and mk2 are already very nice im thinking buying a strike pg, and buy mg zeta, mk2, nu and gyan. Do you guys recommend spending money on a airbrush with a compressor?

SNT1 2006-06-21 22:53

go with what design you like best, although If you really want an opinion, Id take the strike :P its the least complicated construction wise...

The wings serve as extra fuel tanks for the backpack, hence their slightly off shape.
