Question: Can you spray clear gloss spraypaint (i.e. topcoat) over gold plated pieces (like the ones that come with the full burst strike freedom?). does it make it even shinier or would it ruin the original gold plating???

thats a good question there, I never tried it before and if no one answers your question just try it out on the gold runner.

I just bought a MG Strike Freedom Full Burst and I was wondering how were able to remove the seam lines and paint the thing. It's got sliding parts all over the place and I don't want the plastic cement to lock up the pieces.

I've seen pics where people cut out certain sections like the front of the gold pieces in the rail guns or certain places in the gold pieces on the wings. It seems like those cuts make it look easier to paint and remove seam lines. Those cuts also look like they could just slot those gold parts in but I was wondering if they would just fall off. It seems like it works and I've seen the completed kits retain all of its gimmicks.

Can someone give me some tips on painting and removing the seams on the SF? And can someone tell me how those cuts work and how they keep the sliding features on the rail guns and wings without the whole thing falling apart?

Here's a pic of the wings with cuts on the gold part:

They've always appeared to be like that, the HG and the 1/100s gave us the impression that they're fully white.......sometimes in the anime they may be mistaken for shining effects too.GN-Sword II did not help.

I need to go recolour my HG Exia's swords now......bummer.

Sir Dearka 2009-06-20 20:16

MG Exia is a true beauty. I am truly madle happy that I preordered it.

yusawateva 2009-06-20 21:48

wait so do you have to color the blades yourself in the MG kit or does it come with the parts so that you can have it in that color?

Well, in every MG kit, the OOB kit tends to have about 80-90% of the colors shown in the painted kit illustrations. So there's a good chance that the GN Blades comes in that color.

However, from my past experience with MGs, solid swords never contain more than 2 colors when unpainted. Here's hoping i'm wrong about MG Exia.

Btw, OOB = Out Of Box

Okamidum 2009-06-20 23:31

I like how they did the whole insert GN Drive thing.

GN0010 Nosferatu 2009-06-21 02:53

^Likewise, I love all the kits that show the GN Drives in full detail. Same with the wires that transfer the energy.

StratoSpear 2009-06-21 03:40

I dunno about you guys... but the 7th pic from the top suspiciously resembles Seraphim's GN Drive cover. Or is it a GN Condenser?

LordStrike 2009-06-21 07:18

i think its a cover to place on the hole for wen the GN drive is out i love that hole on the back were the GN drove goes :)
