Spoiler for OMG!!!:

Ok. Zessica pissed me off so much in this episode...
|
Andy still depress from previous ep... Mix realize it was her fault
Amata talk about Alicia with Mikono as she think about Kagura Mikono got a letter from her dad. Cayenne and Mikono sibling talk Shushu seem to like Mix which is rare Izumo come in battle and recognize Amata In the end of the battle, Mix got taken |
I think most of us predicted that Zessica would get kidnapped.
Boy we were wrong. I think I'm going to stop predicting any of this. But this episode was amazing, and not even Kagura was needed to make this amazing. |

i am pretty much very tired of the way zessica has been written. they could have ended that one-sided triangle last episode. instead they put her in a ridiculous dress that makes no sense and carry on with it this episode.
what insightful and meaningful stuff can they teach us about one-sided love? that her good friend took the bullet for zessica? so she can wallow in more self-pity? just drop the triangle already. everyone gets that she is not going to win but is the conclusion supposed to be she has to die for having a one-sided love? |
Spoiler for Draaaagggg:
Talk about a total fake out preview from last week though. :heh: Izumo is a total badass, and makes you wonder why he didn't get involved sooner. The man curbstomped the shit out of Gepard, and easily brushed off the EVOL. |

So the whole Andy/MIX mess last episode was a flag.
That absolutely none of us saw. And at the same time defeated the cliche of having the heroine kidnapped and made the damsel in distress. Kawamori gets props for that, at least. |

Did Kawamori watch Gundam Age Episode 28 before finishing this episode?

This just wasn't a fun episode for me at all. I don't have much more to say then that. Unless we get new spoilers or crazy new theories I think I'll just see you guys next week, :heh:.

At this point I don't even give a shit about apollo-silvia stuff. I was so excited when the show started but kagura hardly appears and mikono and amata do nothing. While zessica gets her face rubbed in dirt episode after episode. They give more focus to side pairings like jin and yunoha, that I didn't care about. I liked andy-mix, they were lot closer to apollo-silvia than any other pairings, but they andy emo and had mix kidnapped. All for purpose no doubt but the execution is beginning to suck.

I dunno, I enjoyed the episode alright, although it did showcase the writing issues in this show. Anyway, more on that later.
Spoiler:
But Mix? Seriously? Why?? Yeah, I'm sure they have their reasons, but was this really necessary? Not just because of Zessica, but... well, I'm just wondering, will we ever see the four main characters (or three, depending on whether you count Kagura as main or not) doing, y'know, main character stuff? Amata and Mikono have flashes of "hey, I'm a main chara!" every now and then that end up hanging in the air, Zessica has gotten a bit more lately, but she pretty much hit a brick wall in this episode, and Kagura... yeah. (Where is he, anyway, in the doghouse again?) Jin and Yunoha was bad enough ("bad" in the sense of "being unnecessarily overdone"), now Andy and Mix? I like all these characters, but at this rate it's going to be Star Driver all over again, with the writer spending too much time on the secondary characters, sometimes throwing a bone or two for the actual protagonists, leading to a confusing and anticlimatic end. (Well, at least as with Star Driver, we can count on the end being fabulous.) As much as I enjoy this show, between this and the mess that was Ano Hana and the even bigger mess that was the Kenshin Kyoto OVA (*shudder*), I don't see myself becoming a fan of Okada Mari any time soon. |
Yeah, Okada's writing strikes me as very, very precise with diction (this usually shows up on a rewatch), full of cutesy stuff that takes on secondary meanings (again usually on a rewatch), but nothing I've seen her given primary credits for has been all that well-planned from start to finish.
There were some moments I liked for sure, and Izumo in particular is a real cool character to see in action, but it's finally gotten too emo-ish for me to enjoy as much as I've enjoyed the earlier episodes. I can take a bittersweet-or-worse end in stride, but it's hard to get psyched up to see mopey characters acting irrationally. Just a preference thing I guess. |
Seriously its baffling zessica would just up and ready to sacrifise herself. She has a serious case of ready to die already hanging on her head. So she has no family, no one she cares about on vega? Why don't they atleast give her background so we can understand her decision a bit more? We got to see mikono's father and heard of amata's but nothing about zessica's background at all in 18 episodes.
