thanks everyonefor the help, to art stores sell lacquer based paints? is so then i know 1-2 places i can check out for some lacquer thinner. i never use water on the brushes aside from the few times i use acrylic paints. i dont have any thinner atm though i do use varsal. it works well for enamel but it does little to remove mr color. i normally use humbrol enamel. i cant stand acrylic, too hard to use imo. too much thinner or not enough are my usual problems. i usually use a pack of 5-6 plaid/applebarrel brushes and it works well with enamel and acrylic. they also work well to apply mr color but then theres still the problem to remove the paint.

My HG 1/144 Seraphim is in tatters, many broken and loose parts here and there. I'm thinking of getting another Seraphim or the Nadleeh. Any recommendations?

Nah, I'd rather get normal Seravee. Seravee GNHW is nice, but looks a little shoddy and last-minute.

Seem the like the upcoming MG V Gundam will have addtional equipment to made it into 'Second V' (design from Gundam V novel.)
Not much info is known at this time if this will be given as first batch limited release? or comes together with the item?

I don't know,doesn't the GNHW Seravee comes with almost everything that normal Seravee has,though I think the sideskirts arent available.[I took those off my normal Seravee anyways]

I havent build my Seraphim yet,though I have my Nadleeh.I think you should go with Seraphim,Nadleeh isn't that special and Seraphim can be posed with Seravee and still make canonical sense.

But mostly choose the one out of your design preference.

For the record,HG Seraphim does come with the short beam saber,that's compatible with the S2 Gundam hilts [Which fits the GN-X hilts I think].So a bonus if you think you can use them for something.

I think you can get the Cannon Hands and maybe use them on Seravee as well,so a bonus there.Nadleeh isn;t that interchangable as Virtue,though you can use the GN Cannons with Nadleeh.

GSI also makes a product called Mr Retarder. A small drop of this stuff into your paint will slow the drying time for the paint. Mr Color Leveling Thinner is mr color thinner with mr retarder added, and this will help slow the drying time too. Lacquer paints are really meant for airbrushing.

The best paints to hand brush are enamel paints. They dry very slowly so you have plenty of time to clean the brush, fix mistakes, and the slow dry time allows the paint to self level which hides brush strokes.

Thanks. Personally, I prefer Seravee's sideskirts, that's something the GNHW doesn't have, or isn't equipped with. I think I'll go with Seraphim, as I said, I already have one, albeit broken, but at least the hands are still intact, so I'll be able to do the 6 Beam Sabers spam when I get my Seravee. :p Thanks again!

How good is the new seed astray 1/100 line? I haven't unbox my regen duel.

i have a general question to all of you. do you have any rituals in particular you go thru when you build a model? i usually leave the assembly if the head for the last step or i assemble it early on and put it on after the reast of the model is completed/

Usually build my way down. Head-chest-torso-arms-legs-backpack-weapons.

But do you count keeping my hands EXTRA EXTRA clean before building a kit a ritual...?

I do have some "rituals" (more like obsessive compulsiveness) when it comes to what I do after I build kits though.
For example, I've kept every single box from every single model I've ever built. I know a lot of people do it since they make nice display items. But I also keep ALL the plastic that came along with it. So I keep all the pieces of large plastic...and the plastic bags. Never know when they'll be useful...

LOL,I have OCD and I do the same things you do in regard to the keeping the box and the plastic.I guess I'm afraid that I forgotten to do something,like a small piece of an unimportant part,that may come in later.I keep the plastic bags as well,I used to throw them away but I collect them now because I plan to experiment some new building techniques that require a large number of them.


Usually,I just follow the instruction step by step.But I don't put the limbs together until the end.Easiar to store that way.

If I want to change improve colour,I do the surface painting beforehand with an airbrush.Smaller details are done by brush but usually after building.

Linings are after building I guess.I don't do sanding.

I'm in a bit of a bind with my HG Reborns,I'm not exactly sure which of the parts need colouring and since most of my small detail colouring are post building.Some tips and review I've read mentioned that its better to color it while building it,but since I'can't reallly know all the part that need to,I find that close to impossible for me to do it mentally,IE the planning part.
