psychological anime/manga...

Can anyone tell me about any psychological type anime or manga? It'd be something like the spiral or psychometerer eiji. Or maybe something with just deep thinking behind it.

Anne Freaks

Monster, Monster, and more Monster. Johan is one of the most interesting villians ever, and he's heavily based on psychology.

There's a lot of psychology behind various characters in Monster, though I found it a bit hit and miss as far as belivability goes. Absolutely amazing series too if you can stand the length and complexity, it's one of my favourites. Deep characterization and atmosphere at every turn.

these all seem like some great titles. I will check them out.

Death Note

SeijiSensei 2006-12-10 18:18

All the main characters of the current series NHK ni Youkoso display complex psychological issues. You'll think you're watching a (pretty hilarious) comedy at first, but you'll soon discover how serious a program this really is.

This show is bidding for a slot in my top-three animes, along with Monster and Junni Kokki.

I believe Death Note or Monster are the best for psychological animes/manga.

Monster and evangelion, if you can get past 95 animation. PErsonally my favorite series, eva is the only religiously psychological anime i've seen.

My Picks for you would be

Serial Experiments Lain - its a classic

Elfen Lied - Its a Physcoligical Slasher drama with a tinge of Romance

Higurashi - Horror Drama Mystery

Niea - Its a comedy of Errors which deals with problems

Lain is a must see dont miss that one . Lain people made Niea

Jordus 2006-12-14 01:43

Death Note would most probably fill your expectations perfectly. Its currently my favourite anime (until February when Naruto fillers end).

White Manju Bun 2006-12-16 13:48

GANTZ
Ghost Hunt
Higurashi
Death Note
Night Head Genesis

most of those are psychological in some form

Death Note is the best anime I've ever seen.
I've yet to come across one with such deep thought put in to it.

Paranoia Agent
xxxHoLiC is a bit psychological as well...though more on the supernatural side

negativeone 2007-07-04 21:28

Paranoi Agent: This has to be one of the greatest anime ever. The story revolves around two social phenomenoms shonen bat and maromi. Each episode focuses on a new character(in the end most of the characters are bound together by a serius of events) and their social life. The series talks about social issues like suicide, work preassure, social preassure, fads, otakus, gamers, pedophiles and childpornography, gamers, and what not. This is a must watch anime. This anime is by the same guy who did Pefect Blue.

Higurashi: A detective like anime and u are the detective. The plot revolves around a group of friends and the supernatural events that happen in their small town. The events are said to be caused by a curse but is it realy all just a curse?????* suspenseful music plays at the back*

Welcome to the NHK: The plot is about a 21-22 year old guy who decided to withdraw from society for three years(not sure) because of his low selfsteem and his lack of social skills. The anime also talks about gamers, suicide, social preassure, child abuse and i dunno. I suggest u watch this because that way you will know what happens to you when you watch to much anime.

xxxHolic: Really fun to watch it has its funny momments and it serius momments(more funny than serius though). Supernaural and psychological i realy enjoyed this anime.

Death Note: Watch this because Ligth is a damn fucking psychopath.

Evangelion, Raxhephon: Both are mecha anime, you know how mecha anime works in order for it not to be crap there has to be some sort of psychological challenge going on with the main character. The same goes for Gantz

Ergo Proxy: This migth fall into the category. Really cool, complicated anime, about a guy with amnesia trying to remember his past in a sci-fi world, where everything is controlled by the government.

Narutaro and Bokurano: I could not handle the depressing shit in them and what the kids had to go through and have had gone through. But don't get me wrong they are good anime.

Manga:

MPD Psycho:All most every character is some sort of sadistic, brutal, fu*ked up criminal, and the main character suffers of multiple personality disorder.
