Just be sure that there's a Bandai Logo on the box and that the writings on it are in Japanese, not in Chinese or English. Also, if you regularly buy Gunpla, I think you'll be able to notice the crappy printings on the knock-off's box (compared to Bandai's). So far, that's good enough to keep me from being tricked and buying the knock-offs ;).

Ah ok. Makes sense. Good to know. Thanks for the tip!

And yeah, I am aware of the fakes and such they may have. Any way of telling the difference between a fake & real kit? The shipping prices and such are what deter me from buying many kits here in the states.

States as in the USA? Well, why not just relax during your visit to China instead of worrying about buying kits there? I mean doesn't it make more sense to do business in the US to keep the money in the country and support the US economy?

Just have fun in China (and be safe), and then when you get back to the US, just go over to:

eBay
Amazon
GG Infinite
Gundam Planet
Tatsu Hobby
Gundam Store & More

...and then order your kits.

bio9205 2012-11-07 22:10

Also, some knockoffs may label the kits differently. IIRC on HG Dynames' box, Bandai's says "Gundam Dynames" while TT Hongli's just says "Dynames".

HasuMasu 2012-11-08 06:07

That's a nice looking box behind the Zeta.

HGUC Byarlant Custom is finally out! Hacchaka just made a review and after seeing it, I definitely can't wait to get my hands on one!

Ugh I'm torn between this and the Rozen Zulu, being a poor college student sucks (well I got the money, but its being spent elsewhere on necessary things......)

casval cehack 2012-11-08 18:29

I say pick the Byarlant Custom, it's available now.:heh: Rozen Zulu will become "necessary" in December.

Yeah, that's true. I just wish shipping and such wasn't so expensive. I'll have to check some of those sites you mentioned (like Tatsu Hobby, which I hadnt heard of before).

I just remember not too long ago when I was able to get kits for a reasonable price here. But now it's like a minimum of $25 for a decent 1/144 HG kit, and even more if I have to import it. Can't really afford this hobby like I used to be able to, lol.

The way I see it..

If you live on the East Coast
- Gundam Store & More
- Gundam Planet (based in NJ)

If you live on the West Coast
- GG Infinite
- Tatsu Hobby

If you can't wait, it's a kit sold out, etc
- Hobby Link Japan
- HobbyWave (based in Canada)

I know that everyone says GG Infinite is expensive, but they sometimes have good prices, and they always have those online exclusive/hard to find items. If it's not listed on their online store, it's best to send them an email to see if they have it in stock elsewhere or if they can special order it for you.

I'm going for the Rozen Zulu first, then the Byarlant Custom if I have enough. :D

I'm waiting for GG INFINITE to get the MG Darkhound in stock then I will order that and the RG Strike Rogue together.

I'm still waiting for BlueFin to send me a confirmation email of sending out the 8 Real Grade kits I won.

Y dont you order at Hobbywave? They have a flat shipping of $12, and if you order say 4 kits thats $3 shipping for each

I have not personally ordered there yet, Im waiting for a damn restock on the HG Legilis for my bro, but from what I have heard they're pretty good with shipping and stuff

Butagami 2012-11-09 06:04

So the other day my MG Qan[T] came in :)
Gonna take my sweet time putting that piece of art together.
And still to come, the Aegis, and the 1/100 kyrios (yay transformables, go well with my MG Wing)
And that'll probably be it for my gunpla purchases for the coming time (I can sympathise, Skye) :heh:

Don't suggest unless you've done it before.

I have.. My problems.

1. they don't ship every day
2. $12 flat fee is great if you order a lot
3. based in canada so still need to get through customs
4. not in stock a lot of times

Why can't he make suggestions? He honestly told Meeses that he hadn't ordered there himself, but heard good things about them. What's wrong with that?

And about your "problems"

1. A day or two won't make that much of a difference...
2. This is a good thing (and It's always best to buy in bulk, flat fee or not)
3. What does it add in price and time?
4. You're right here, that is a hassle

Hearing about something (shopping experience, product, etc) is nothing unless you have personal experience.

Bro, 95% of the things you post on this forum is repeating your wishlist over and over again, you do not get to call someone out on rephrasing something similar to what you said.

also, Byarlant custom on the way from HLJ. can't wait to get my hands on it and build it slowly and polish every single nub off.

suiton629 2012-11-09 14:48

Just letting you guys know that GG Infinite just created a new coupon to use at his store..

$10 off any order of $70 or more. Can only be used once person, address.

Code: ggcoupon

It expires 12/31/2012 so use it fast.

LOL. That was a nice one, man. :D

Yeah, like he's one to talk about the pointless-ness of repeating what he said when he's doing exactly that all the time with his wishlist. But hey, at least he admits that repeating what he said is pointless, LOL :D

My point is, I'm making him try to order in "Hobbywave" even though he doesn't have personal experience ordering from it YET because he can only gain the experience if he tries.

Your point is to make him order from GG because YOU have personal experience ordering to them that you gained because YOU TRIED.

bio9205 2012-11-09 19:20

Don't feed the troll guys, he's just sucking up to GG.

And Znozzy, yeah, I just realised the heck load of visible nubs on the Byarlant Custom! Oh well. Is there a reason why Bandai doesn't try to undergate parts? Or even make nubs less visible for that matter. I guess they're just lazy.

MeesesGlokmah 2012-11-09 19:34

Wow, didn't expect my questions would end up causing arguments, lol. Can't we all just get along? We obviously all love Gunpla, so that should be enough reason for us to settle any differences :)

That said, thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'll look into all the options presented and see which works best for my situation.

Thanks again! You guys are great!

How am I sucking up to GG if I'm offering you guys and exclusive coupon code? GG is not going to post this himself on the blog so why not use this as a chance to save some money on GUNPLA this holiday season?

What's wrong with that?:twitch:

Hey guys whats a good MG thats less than $50, have a stand (or poses on the ground insanely well), and is no older than 2004? Open to any suggestions as long as it is not a GM unit (sorry GM fans but I hate the GM visor for some reason)

The price in Dollars depends on each store, so I’ll just go with kits which are cheaper than 5000 yen and which can pose well on the ground:
  • Any of the new Wing EW MGs
  • MG Wing Gundam TV version
  • The new GAT-X series MGs (Duel, Buster, & Blitz) don’t know if Aegis can stand well or not.
  • Any variation of MG AGE-1
  • MG RX-178 Gundam Mk.II TITANS or AEUG
  • MG Strike Noir
  • MG Turn-A Gundam
  • MG RX-78-2 ver. One Year War
  • MG Destiny Gundam (non Full Blast)
  • MG Crossbone Gundam X1 (ver KA or Full Cloth)
  • MG Gundam F91 (white or blue)
  • MG Victory Gundam ver. KA
  • Any variation of MG Impulse Gundam (Sword or Force) Force is stable when you pose it without the jetpack

If you like mono-eye MSs, you can go with:
  • Any version/variation of MG ZAKU II 2.0
  • MG Gouf 2.0

Here's a good source for you to decide..

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Master_Grade

Go there. Search 2004. From there you can see which ones you like.
$50 (US Dollars) equals to about ¥3972 these days. So that doesn't leave you with much of a choice.

You can go buy a kit from GG Infinite from now through 12/31 and use the code ggcoupon for $10 off an order of $70 at least.

Not many MG (if any) come with a stand. Just get an Action Base 1.

Anyway, the ones you can choose according to your criteria...

XXXG-01W Wing Gundam Ver.Ka
RMS-099 Rick Dias
ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam
MBF-02 Strike Rouge --> ¥4000
XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero Custom
RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. One Year War 0079
MSN-00100 "Hyaku-Shiki + Ballute System"
RX-178 Gundam Mk-II Ver.2.0 --> ¥4000
RX-178 Gundam Mk-II Ver.2.0 (Titans)
F91 Gundam F91
XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam X-1 Ver.Ka
F91 Gundam F91 (Harrison Martin's)
GN-001 Gundam Exia
LM312V04/06 Victory Gundam "Ver.Ka"
XXXG-01W Wing Gundam --> ¥4000
LM312V04(B-part)+SD-VB03A Core Booster Ver.Ka
XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam EW
XXXG-01W Wing Gundam EW
XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock EW
XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms EW
AGE-1 Gundam AGE-1 Normal
AGE-1T Gundam AGE-1 Titus
AGE-1S Gundam AGE-1 Spallow

GAT-X207 Blitz Gundam --> ¥4000
AGE-2 Gundam AGE-2 Normal --> ¥4200
GAT-X103 Buster Gundam
AGE-2DH Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound --> ¥4200
OZ-00MS Tallgeese EW

Those are the kits that you could potentially choose from based on the price range. The ones where I noted a ¥ price is those kits that went over your ¥ price range (roughly converted from the ¥ to $ rate for today).

I hope that helps a little.
I bolded the kits I think you might enjoy.

Have you built the mk. II 2.0 ? if not, go with that one, its beautiful with just some panel lining. Beautiful build, superb innerframe and it comes with a dock-like stand that you can connect with the Zeta 2.0s " stand " aswell.

AND IT CAN COME IN TITAN COLORS TOO.

everybody loves titan colors

Creepy how you got my like list mostly right O.o though theres two exceptions, 1. I LOVE Wing Gundam TV version, I have a special spot for it and as such bought the MG the instant it hit Ebay (it was the very first gundam I laid eyes on and that came through my dad buying me an action figure of it when I was like 6) and I really love the MK-II

Thanks btw!

Thanks! As a side note I like some mono eyed units, however there are very few I would willingly buy at MG price, and those I would, is either too expensive or I'm too afraid to build (Sinanju in particular(

Skye629 2012-11-10 04:31

So from the recommendations my initial MG list to choose from so far is:

MG RX-78-2 OYW Anime Colors
MG 2.0 Gundam MK-II AEUG
MG Freedom (Maybe worried about fragile wings)
MG Wing Zero EW (Maybe, I heard it got some serious hand and feather problems)\
MG Sandrock EW
MG Blitz
MG Strike (Whats the IWSP price btw? I prefer it over the Aile, and it haz a stand from what I believe)
MG AGE-2 DH (the only AGE lead I would ever consider getting in MG)

For the DH and Blitz Im a bit concerned about the nubs......every dark colored kit I build (HGUC Banshee in particular) gives me hell with the nubs, how do you guys get about it? I dont paint, just cut, sand a bit, then color over

Butagami 2012-11-10 06:30

Wing (TV) is definitely a good one, liked building that one (Like Skye, Wing holds special value, for being the lead of the first gundam series I've ever watched, about ten years ago)
And while I haven't built it yet, Qan[T] looks simply amazing, and is a recommendation for that alone (also posing, lots of posing)

Strike IWSP is 4200 yen compared to Aile Strike which is 3800 yen. And yes, Strike IWSP comes with a stand.

MG Strike and Freedom are good kits if you don’t mind peg-less hands. And Freedom’s wings aren’t that fragile IMO.

Any of the Wing EW MG kits (Heavyarms, Deathscythe, Deathscythe Hell, Shenlong, Sandrock) is a sure treat.

For cleaning nubs, I only use a file and some markers with matching colors. As for my HGUC Banshee, here’s the result:
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) I didn’t sand it whatsoever since it will leave some ugly marks on clear parts.

bio9205 2012-11-10 07:42

Agreed with using a file. Anyone who doesn't use primer should stick to files. Been using it since day 1 and it's worked great for me.

both the Aile Strike and IWSP comes with a stand. IWSP is much better imo, the inner frame is slightly more detailed than the Aile.

Among the list , here's my short review

MG RX-78-2 OYW Anime Colors - didnt do but have done the ver 2.0 which has more weapons than oyw ver
MG 2.0 Gundam MK-II AEUG - HD ver resolve the unturnable wraist issue else the kit is solid
MG Freedom (Maybe worried about fragile wings) - the wings are heavy & cause the kit to sag to the back if you do not do the HiMat mode
MG Wing Zero EW (Maybe, I heard it got some serious hand and feather problems) - the feather is kinda loose else everything is just alright
MG Sandrock EW - Great kit, nothing much to complain
MG Blitz - Another great kit with lots of pose to do also
MG Strike (Whats the IWSP price btw? I prefer it over the Aile, and it haz a stand from what I believe) - So far i have done Aile,IWSP, Strike Noir . IWSP pack is bigger than Aile Pack, IWSP comes with Wing EW stand . In terms of pose i wld suggest Strike Noir/Strike E + IWSP
MG AGE-2 DH (the only AGE lead I would ever consider getting in MG - so far only done MG Age-2 , the legs & hand pegs can be quite loose & the arms can't really handle the dodds rifle weight

GN0010 Nosferatu 2012-11-10 20:04

I gotta say, the Delta Gundam Kai looks pretty goddamn sweet. If I was brave enough to try building it a kit, that would be my first one. Kinda reminds me of the Gundams from G-Savouir.
