Yep, some sawing and glue were required. I used the 1/144 HG models. Most of the connectors of the individual Gundams didn't fit unfortunately. :(

I described most of the process here, have a look :)

I just painted my HG 00 Raiser so I can definitely say Tamiya acrylic paints.

Try for 1:1 ratio between paint and thinner. Dip the end of your brush into the paint and then rinse in a jar of unused water. You can gauge whether its the correct mix you want this way from how clear the water is after you have dipped the paint into it.

It will take 2-3 layers of paints to get a good effect so take your time. Another reason for acrylic paints is that it's much easier to correct any mistakes than with enamel paints, which you will have to resort to stripping the paint. With acrylics paint just wipe with the thinner. And don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out as you wanted at first. I thought the effect was poor too at first until I assembled the entire model. The clear parts turned out really well, especially the red forehead crystal.

Hope this helped.

Thank you so kindly for the assistance, I truly appreciate it. I'm so sorry as well for the late response...

Just so that I make sure I understood everything correctly: when checking the mix between the thinner and the paint in the water, how should I go about judging the clarity? The clearer the better?...or the more vivid the colour the better?

Tormenk 2009-03-06 23:34

Well it's really up to your preferences here. Going for a stronger clear effect would be a more vivid color in the mix. Vice versa if you are going for a clearer effect, which is what I did too.

This might give you an idea.

Spoiler for images:

Pictures on some of my kits later. Intended to share earlier but was too darn lazy to get around to it. And distracted by my recent purchases. :heh:

The daytime pictures are so much better. Your Sinaju is a great piece of work. :D

How did you achieve the effect for the shield anyway? Just curious.

I really see nothing that bad with the included stands. They come in handy, though indeed seriously limit the poseability ;)
No news of Anew's HG suit so far... I am getting impatient! :P Just decided that I'll get whatever Innovator suit comes out in HG. Gadessa and Garazzo are just too beautiful...

The included stands are good for "standing" poses, ie stationary pose with arms and legs straight and thats ok. I plopped my Gadessa on it after completion and immediately stole my GNX-III's red action base 2 to sit the newer model on it. Looks waaaaaay better now. :p

The stand with the HG 00 Raiser has the insertion peg slightly elevated upwards, which is good for the 0 Raiser, not for the 00. Looks weird imo. :heh:

Anybody got the MG Sword/Launcher Strike Gundam? Is it worth getting?
Both the sword/launcher packs are great. I got it for the sword pack and I love how it looks. Might have some difficulty posing the BFS since there are only one pair of general purpose hands to pose with, unlike with the Impluse/Destiny/Strike Noir's sword holding hands.

An image for your reference, since I'm planning to dump it out anyway.

Ridiculously awesome mod.

Is that the Archer's head stuck to the 0 raiser? :heh:

Nice mods. Good job!

Un1ver5e 2009-03-07 01:16

Thanks for the compliments. Haha yeah, I tried to incorporate Archer into it, but her 2 huge-ass drives seemed out of place, so I used them as weapons instead, and stuck her head there to make it seem they "combined". =)

That looks more like the gattai used by transformers or Super Robots, but not really power rangers/super sentai. If people seen more sentai, or those other two, the difference is very far apart, regardless of series extent, but to the basic idea for most of it.

Awesome job on the mod, it doesn't look cluster-up, which is the "usual" problem in gattai.:cool:;):p:D:)
Do not make a mod similar to this

4 days constructing the individual Gundams and around 2+ days conceptualizing the design and all. I originally wanted to construct it with 1/100s but my wallet disagreed.

Oh well, it was a fun process though, tearing down the parts and swapping them around.

Yea, it's already uber-awesomely-awesome, why risk the possibility of, dare I say, ruining the masterpiece?

Knight_SV 2009-03-07 05:25
