Can someone tell me which nation and which characters have the Armor of Deadly Sins ?

Chaos2Frozen 2011-11-01 20:57

Similar to IS before, it would be better for someone to post a glossary here for all the technical stuff in the first page for easy reference :)

HEAVY SPOILER WARNING!

Spoiler for The Eight Great Dragon Kings:

EDIT: Muneshige is from Tres, not K.P.A. Thanks for the heads-up, articuzwolf.

Kunagisa 2011-11-02 00:07

There are 2 types of activation shown so far for Deadly Sin Armaments.

Normal Activation/通常駆動: Base weapon attack, consumes a certain amount of fuel
Overdrive Activation/超過駆動: As name suggests, the stronger attack, consumes huge amount of fuel, can't be spammed.
Spoiler for a bit more:

Tonbokiri/Dragonfly Cutter is the prototype to both Lype and Akedia; it has a Normal Activation along with a unique Superior Activation/上位駆動. This is the one that allows Tadakatsu to cut concepts, such as north. In a (x,y) coordinate system, you stand at the origin, then cut x by 15, you'll be at 15,0).
Spoiler for Novel:

DSAs do not have the Superior Activation, probably because that function is replaced by Overdrive. When Muneshige use his normal activation, Tadakatsu cancelled it by reflecting it back.

Mazus 2011-11-02 00:27

Will any of the other prototypes (if there are any) be showcased in the anime? Or have they yet to make an appearance in the novels?

This is the only prototype shown iirc, but there will be other Divine class weapons, such as Neito's chain shown in the PV.

Spoiler for Novel:

That is seriously just ridiculous. I would assume there are other Divine Weapons other than Tonbokiri, do they all have ridiculous abilities like that?

As a question specifically more about what was shown in the anime, in the first episode when Margot was shooting at the teacher, did they buy attacks or something from the Treasurer guy? That's what it seemed like.

Divine weapons aren't that overpowered compare to DSAs. Remember the range is only 30 meters, which really is stupid short and allows all kind of maneuver to avoid the reflection.

The DSA we saw here is just a huge nuke really, but the later ones like

Spoiler for Phuos:

Yes, they are and they cost a lot of money
e.g. Muneshige also needs to use those "spells" to accelerate

It's kinda of hard to conclude that, since weapons aren't the only determinants of military prowess.

There are also magic and contracts with deities etc.

Question about Tombokiri so basically it cut/slice/sever anything it blade reflects in the range of 30 meters ? be it concept or real objects as long as the user desire and power the weapon ? It like a reality eraser ?

Yes, as long as there is a name for the concept or the object being sliced (which is a huge problem for nameless objects or objects with multiple names). I wouldn't call it reality eraser because it is not that strong. It doesn't work as well on plural objects, so if Tadakatsu used that against the overflowing ether, he wouldn't be able to just erase the ether, he probably only cut a line through the object (like knife through water).

Also, the cutting is activated by fluid ether; for concepts or objects that are too big, the person might not have enough energy source to actually cut it.

About the name, does the user have to call the name of the object or he can just need to know about its ?

I think in the novel

Spoiler for Novel:
The wielder has to say "Bind. Tonbokiri." to actually trigger the attack (without needing to say the name). This is to prevent randomly reflecting the blade and just slicing everything, which means there is somewhat of a lag time that allows people to escape the binding.

This is why

http://puu.sh/82bb

Gin didn't get instantly sliced off in this scene.

Yes and also I think the user have to swing the spear to activate the ability. If it is correct then I think:

Bind mean that the image is locked on blade and swinging the spear mean moving the locked image ==> the real object is cut because the part that its image is locked in the spear is actually moving correspondent with the blade.

BTW does it also need light to active ? because no light mean no reflection ?

Ah...glad to know I didn't hear that part wrong in the show...

Is Gin stronger than her husband? Being a Loizmoi wielder doesn't necessarily make you superior to your opponent then it seems...

articuzwolf 2011-11-03 08:51

@Marcus: Shouldn't Tachibana Muneshige is from Tres Espana instead of K.P.A Italia?
