That interview... is Joakim talking with himself? Besides that this reminds me a lot the Solid 1 twist in which Liquid disguised as Master Miller just by wearing sunglasses. XD

Also I've read that Kojima admitted he loves trolling the fans. To be more specific he loves surprising them as he dislikes how Hollywood's films are so predictable so the viewers can predict what's going to happen.

Imagine if KojiPro and Suda51 made a game :eyespin: You wouldn't know what the hell is going on!

More Phantom Pain images (LQ)

Also at that time, Mogren also described The Phantom Pain as "a combination of Half Life, Borderlands 2, Angry Birds, and Faerie Solitaire."
What the hell?

Mad Pierrot 2013-03-16 19:34

What if Joakim is not real but a character created with the Fox Engine? That's why he went "O_O" at the end of the interview.

This is Metal Gear Solid 2 all over again.

No, that's a real person. Not even the Fox Engine is capable of that level of realistic detail and movement.

If that's actually true, it will be the greatest game of all time. :heh:

This game must be a long ways away. I'm personally more hyped for Ground Zeroes at the moment. The story in that game already has me intrigued with the XOF group.

Omega is a camp seen in Ground Zeroes so it could mean the Phantom Pain is Ground Zeroes.

SilverSyko 2013-03-17 10:58

Pretty ominous sounding music there. That combined with the fire beings in the original trailer kind of beings Psycho Mantis to mind.

If it's not, it's probably some new character with very similar ESP powers.

Blackbeard D. Kuma 2013-03-17 10:59

Kojima also said that he would like to do another game featuring Solid Snake. So perhaps that could be what he has planned for MGS5, although it would most likely take place sometime before MGS4.

The back drop to the vid looks like a fusion reactor.

Doubt thats what its meant to be but thats the first thing I thought when I seen it.

kenjiharima 2013-03-17 22:43

reminds me of those brains in Metal Gear Rising.

At this point in technology it is possible. It just wouldn't be practical for use in an entire game, and the "bandaged man" is relatively easier to animate with most of his features covered.

The suspicion came from the fact that the man's appearance is unusual enough to be deliberate. That he is probably a direct port of an existing character in the game but spiced up for prime time.

I really don't think it is (he moves too realistically, even when considering mocap), but if they come out and say "it was done in the FOX Engine" you can feel free to call me on this post. :heh:

Many things are still not possible to render live. But it is NOT impossible to do what they did with pre-rendered sequences.

Now, if they showed a person fully exposed with a full head of hair, then I will agree that it is right now too hard. But a bandaged man? Achievable.

Mad Pierrot 2013-03-18 12:06

One of these men is an artificial creation of the gaming industry that exists solely for marketing purposes. The other is Joakim Mogren. XD

Seriously. Consider Joakin's light reflection in his eyes. It never never changes. Not even when he is shocked. The interview's light reflection does change. Also, he is protagonist of the Phantom Pain trailer but without Big Boss' hair! He says he had an accident just like the morse code trailer.

I'm starting to think the trailers are showing Big Boss recovering from his coma after San Jeronimo.

Notice the title of the video: “TPP_GDC2013_720p_ESRB.” Obviously an ESRB-rated GDC 2013 trailer for The Phantom Pain.

Dammit Kojima! Mogren was going to work in this not you.

Take a look at this. It looks incredible, albeit not photorealistic, but it is rendered in real time. Now imagine a pre-rendered human face with one of the latest engines. I definitely think it is possible that Joakim is CGI. I dont' think he is, but I think it's possible.
