Best and Worst Anime Titles - not entire shows...

What is the worst anime titles you ever seen or heard in your life? I have plenty of it. I even laugh at them when I heard someone say its titles. Here some of my examples...

Warning! This thread is only about titles, not entire show. We already have a thread dedicated to worst anime you ever watched.

6. Code Geass
I often misspelled it as "Coke Geass". I dunno why...

5. Dragon Ball
"Ball" has too many other meanings, including that makes people laugh when hearing it. People often make joke like "Do dragons have balls?".

4. I My Me Strawberry Egg
A tongue twister? This show also have nothing to do with strawberries and eggs.

3. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Another tongue twister title that really twisted my tongue.

2. Naruto
Why choose a character's name as a title?

Be prepared with the funnies and the worst I ever heard....It just too damn ridiculous and stupid. I only commenting on title, not show...

Spoiler for The "winner":

X10A_Freedom 2008-02-02 07:56

There's a lot of shoujo bias in my list. In no particular order

Wedding Peach
Um...okaay.

Sailormoon
A combination of the Sailor-fuku and the moon. I get it but sounds weird anyway.

St. Tail
D'oh.

"Lelouche of the Rebellion"
Looked like Engrish for Relaunch for quite some time!

Gundam SEED
Why SEED?

My-HiME Destiny
For blatent recycling.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
What does a reservoir have to do with it?

EXEs 2008-02-02 08:47

Bleach.

Gundam "Weed"

Telmah 2008-02-02 08:49

Princess Tutu. Such an awful title for a fairly decent anime.

Cheezy 2008-02-02 08:54

Myself ; Yourself

Could they seriously not think of a more original name?

Medousa 2008-02-02 09:07

"Bleach"
I just don't really know why it's called like that.O_ô

"Tactics"
Same thing ... This have really nothing to do with the anime/manga.

"Lelouche of the Rebellion"
Lelouche is the WEIRDEST name I ever heard! "The Weird" ô_o

"Bee-be-beat it!"
I just never know how to spell it ... ôô

Also, Sailor Moon and Naruto are a really good ones for the worst anime title...

Khaos 2008-02-02 09:28

Sumomomo momomo...what the heck??

Rayneing 2008-02-02 09:38

Boogiepop Phantom. The name is so ridiculous. Great series though.

kucigaromeo 2008-02-02 09:50

Code Geass often purposely mispelled Code GayAss

Sailormoon reminds me of Popeye

Aria the Origination, sooo engrish

Mahō Shōjo Lyrical Nanoha, tought it was musical mahō shōjo before I watched it

Ghost in the Shell, the original title Kōkaku Kidōtai (lit. Attack Shell Mobile Unit) sounds better and represents the show more.

Murder Princess, she sounds like criminal :p

.hack//whatever, why don't they make it hack://whatever

Kiddy Grade, trying to attract lolicon?

The Chaos 2008-02-02 10:04

Bleach...I Don't Know Why Is This Name...
D.Gray-Man..The Name Not Bad...But What The Meaning Of The D.

I second that. When the characters in the show pronounce "Geass" it definitely sounds like that.

Well, here are a few titles I find amusing :

AFRO Samurai: WTF?
Grenadier :hahahahaha... huh?
GUN X SWORD: apple X banana
He is my master: ...and he wants to f*** me
Piano: now THAT's an original title
xxxHolic: the X's make it sound like a hentai series

Quote:

origination

noun
1. an event that is a beginning; a first part or stage of subsequent events [syn: origin]
2. the act of starting something for the first time; introducing something new; "she looked forward to her initiation as an adult"; "the foundation of a new scientific society" [syn: initiation]
ARIA the Origination does sound like something they randomly pulled out of the air but definately not Engrish! :D

this is manga but..

my balls

seriously..

KholdStare 2008-02-02 12:06

Kite: There's probably some deep symbolism that I'm missing here, but I really don't think so.

Myself ; Yourself: ...

Sumomomo Momomo: ...

Bleach: I have no clue.

When They Cry: The English title translation of Higurashi makes me think of little girls being raped and tortured with butcher knives.

Superior Evolutionary Element Destined-factor (Thats what SEED stands for)

Personally, I have to say Ghost Hunt. In fact, i avoided the show for a while exactly because of the title. It felt awfully blunt, uninspired and childish to a degree. I didn't believe anything worthwhile could possibly be hiding under it. I am glad i was bored enough to check it out and discover that my assumption was false. The series is good, but i feel the title to be severally lacking in appeal.

That's actually an awesome name, because it's so ridiculous :) Remember that Nanoha was originally a mahou shoujo parody, to some extent.

Not far from the truth.

I'll add:
Chrno Crusade, because it should obviously be Chrono Crusade, since Chrno cannot be pronounced except by Polish people.
Rumbling Hearts, because it sounds like an ad for antacid pills.
Shin Shirayukihime Densetsu Pretear, since it is really long and makes no sense. Translates to "New Snow White Princess Legend Pretear".
Erementar Gerad/Elemental Gelade since nobody is really sure how it is spelled, how it is pronounced, or what it means.

Kaioshin Sama 2008-02-02 14:34

Zegapain (Pain in the Zega?)
Dragonaut: The Resonance (Pretentious and silly sounding at the same time)
Groizer X (Male body part)
Godam (No cursing)
Chojin Sentai Balatack (Just sounds ridiculous)
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (Would you ever guess this show is about music and that that is the band's incredibly silly name without knowing ahead of time)
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (Creative much?)

And there's lot of really dumb sounding mecha titles I could sit here listing forever, but let's just move on to what I think is the all time most ridiculous sounding title.

Kissdum (Almost speaks for itself)

Spectacular_Insanity 2008-02-02 15:42

Bleach
Yeah.... I STILL don't get this one.

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo
Both the name and the anime are terrible. I mean, I think the creators must have been smoking something at the time.

Sumomomo Momomo
Haven't seen the anime, but the name is still weird.

Full Metal Panic!
I don't know why it's called "Full Metal"... is it a reference to the mecha? Because it's not a very good one. And "Panic" just seems out-of-the-blue. Same goes for titles that have "burn up" in their names.

Hanaukyo Maid Team La Verite
What exactly does "La Verite" mean?

Mirage of Blaze
The anime wasn't too bad, but I still don't get what the title has to do with anything.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
I tried looking it up, and "Evangelion" isn't even a damn word. I don't think it has anything to do with evangelism.

Kaze no Stigma
I still don't know why they used the word "Stigma". Sure Kazuma was an outcast, but why is his power referred to as Kaze on Stigma? I really don't know. Weird name.

MÄR
It's just weird. Almost like they were trying to mix languages, but then it ended up being an acronym. I like the anime a lot, but its name is really irritating to spell right because it's hard to type the letter Ä.

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
No comment.

The Big O
Lol, this could be taken as innuendo by some. XD

Medousa 2008-02-02 17:25

Bobobo-thing is ... Really really weird. ô_O

Well, actually, "La vérité" mean "The Truth".

It's Erementar Gerad, it's pronounced like it is in the anime, and it is the stone on the Edel Raids' bodies.

Repeating a couple:

Kissdum -Engage Planet- (Why "Kiss"dum?)
Bleach (Try searching for bleach on the web, you won't get just the anime)
Suteki Tantei Labyrinth (The translated title is just... Just how is this series amazing? What labyrinth?)
Happiness (It's not as happy as it sounds)
