How about the SD of the 3 Kingdoms? Are they any good?

Un1ver5e 2009-04-23 23:14

Anyone here worked with epoxy/putty before? Do you happen to have links to any useful tutorials? I'm planning to scratch build some armour components and thought of using putty, but I'm not sure how to use it. Thanks.

Very. Bandai had been releasing them non-stop on an average of 1 kit/per month for the past 2 years. Take a look at their latest lineup :-

The amonut of variations Xu Huang Serpent can do is good for an SD kit and they correspond with the mech he is based on. Lady Sun is just pure Moe and Cao Pi X is cool with the Harmonica Cannon Gimmick.

If you already have an impulse or freedom get the other one
But if you have neither i would go with the Sword Impulse Its that much awesomer :p

Well, I don't have either (yet).
I think the swords (one of the biggest in Gundam kits) are pure awesomeness, but besides that, the Sword Impulse doesn't have a lot. The Strike Freedom seems a bit more unique and has more gimmicks.

Maybe I'll flip coins...best out of 5.

Sworra 2009-04-24 00:33

I call tails wins on Strike Freedom :)

Sir Dearka 2009-04-24 03:27

I think that the first Freedom is much better in terms of design than Strike Freedom. Still, to me MG Impulse (the model kit adapted design) is the best among SEED line, or even among the whole Master Grade line in general (yeah, I know, for you people Zakus, Nu Gundam, Sazabi, Unicorn and Sinanju are better, huh? :P)

Can't speak for the Zakus and Sinanju, but I think MG Infinite Justice is comparable to the Impulse. I had the most fun building these 2. ;)

I had to agree wit you here. I have a MG IJ and it's difficult not to appreciate the perfect proportions for this Gundam. However, there is one drawback in mine - the arm joints are too loose. Still, it is one of my top best-looking Master Grades next to MG Force Impulse and MG Freedom.

Try that. It has some basic tutorials to get you started from removing seam lines, to priming, shadow, paint finish etc

Also here's a link to video tutorials from another site

I would put up some tutorial if I had written up any. But I never could be bothered so here's a link to a guide to using epoxy putty. It may not be for Gundam but same generic rules still apply

also here's another link for those who want to re-cast using putty as well

Any specific questions regarding about any of the questions stated above feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer on a more in depth one on one basis where possible.

Exia just might become THE greatest MG when it is released. I find its design extremely attractive.

And I just hope there'll be more MGs from 00, not just the main heroe's

Just picked up my order of the Sinaju bazooka. Nowhere to be found on regular shelves it seems. And at 1260 yen it's the price of a HG00 kit.

Not sure if this counts as a topcoat but the glossy finishing was handpainted onto the kit with Mr Hobby Color.

Link here. The first image might be a little familiar.

Vandalier 2009-04-24 08:32

is it from hobby japan this month?

Tormenk 2009-04-24 08:41

Erh no. The bazooka comes packaged with the Gundam Unicorn novel as a special release of sorts.

WIP

just finish the knee
i really have hard time with this
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...624_resize.jpg

minor detail
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...625_resize.jpg
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...626_resize.jpg
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...627_resize.jpg
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...628_resize.jpg
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...629_resize.jpg

Cut the skirt
so the hand can move more freely
and make the body skinner
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...630_resize.jpg
original skirt
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...er/0104_10.jpg
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...er/0104_14.jpg

close the gap with pla plate
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...631_resize.jpg

now for the weapon
which one i should use for the axe
the small one is fit to the hand perfectly
but it's kinda weird because it's too thin comparing to the body
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...632_resize.jpg
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...633_resize.jpg
but the big one cannot fit to the hand
better think about it later
