I love tsunderes, and Houki is a great tsundere with her monologue during the second episode being lovely.

i like her kind of tsundere where she is aware of her feeling but is really just too shy to act on them and it just comes out like it does.

Pretty cute, but the girls around her seem to just be too high-level.
Like the China girl.
Like Nohohon.
Mainly Nohohon.
Though her attitude definitely won't help her make friends anytime soon...
Sure the protagonist was being annoying, but you didn't have to send him flying... Scared the mob trio away. (´・ω・`)

Have to wait until the new heroines appear to decide which is best.

I always like a long pony-tailed kendo girl, but I also like the blonde ojou-sama type, hard to choose. and there's also nohohon-san XD
but one thing for sure, her name "broomstick" doesnt appeal that much for me :D

I'm a sucker for tsundere, and when tsunderism is coupled with kendo practice, it essentially magnifies the tsun part of her. :p

She is my least favorite female character in IS. It is weird for me to dislike her when I love most of the tsundere characters....Funny, isnt it?

Not really, sometimes certain un-likable aspects of ones character can outweigh the fetishes you hold for his/her qualities.

My favorite girl so far. I don't think I would even classify her as much as a hardcore tsundere, as most seem to be doing. So far, all her behavior which could be considered tsun-tsun towards Ichika has had some sort of reason or justification behind it, and she doesn't seem to act tsun-tsun for the hell of it like most tsundere. Could she still be considered tsundere, yes, but I personally don't see it as her defining trait by any measure.
Overall she seems dere-dere when spending time in private with Ichika, with her tsun-tsun side being more targeted towards the other girls.
Quick overview of Houki's actions:
Spoiler for Episode 1:
Class introduction: Houki giving off a interested, shy, please don't make a scene associating with me while you're the center of attention, attitude. Overall it felt like she was expecting him to follow up with something when he brought up her recent kendo tournament win (since she got really embarrassed), but was surprised/relieved when he said something different/unexpected? Later in the episode he conveniently says he has forgotten much of what happened around the last time they were doing kendo (6 years ago), so it seems possible they had some sort of special kendo-tournament related memory in the past.
Break time: Houki takes the initiative to bring Ichika outside, away from prying eyes. Embarrassed, uneasy, shy attitude and pleased he remembered her.
After class at room: Walk's out in a bath towel. Shocked, embarrassed yet surprisingly comfortable. Only became upset when Ichika killed the mood by saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. That finally snapped her out of it and put her on the defensive from impure thoughts, promptly kicking Ichika out of the room so she could dress in private.
After Ichika re-enters room: Embarrassed, shy once again and becomes agitated only when Ichika says idiotic and perverted things.
Breakfast: A standoffish attitude towards Ichika, and still a bit taken aback about the unexpected turn of events the previous night.
Back in class: Once the dual for class rep has was agreed upon, Houki looks like she is concerned for Ichika at the very end of the episode.
Spoiler for Episode 2:
Pre-lunch time: Houki is in a bad mood after the topic of her sister was brought up. Pushes Ichika down by mistake when he jokes about something that would make her look weak. As it turns out Ichika is now the weak one, and she feels bad for over-doing it.
Lunch: Seems happy that Ichika still assertively dragged her to lunch. Attempts to thank Ichika for his kindness, but he doesn't hear since the lunch lady speaks over her. Houki doesn't seem to realize this and is upset that Ichika appeared to ignore her kind words. While Houki is considering Ichika's ask for help, she is interrupted by a Senior offering the same. This forces her to act quickly and defend her position and agree, since Ichika would likely have no qualms getting help from someone else if she remained silent (and in-turn rejected his invitation by default).
Kendo dojo: Spars with Ichika and easily wins. Upset he has gotten so much weaker in the past 6 years. Briefly wonders if she was too hard on him, but she seems to believe it is justified in order to restore their kendo connection which they had in the past. Wishes their relationship could go back to how it was back then but is troubled that Ichika has changed a lot during the time they were apart.
Before dual with Cecilia: Seems a bit unhappy that Ichika didn't treasure their kendo-time as much as she did.
During dual with Cecilia: Shows concern for Ichika when he appeared to be having trouble.
After dual with Cecilia: Consoles Ichika on his loss. Promises formally that she will train him in IS. Seems to have mixed feelings about his answer about why he wanted her specifically to train him, but overall very happy.

definitely the main ship and the one i am rooting for the most but I'm kinda hoping the world governments make an exception for Ichika concerning marriage. I'm sure they'll all want him breeding with their women as the only male IS pilot.

She's maybe the best harem lead/main ship that I've ever liked in harem series. I agree that she's not total hardcore tsundere, but in some moments she could have acted less tsun-tsun and in some she could have acted less dere-dere.
But that makes her not the typical tsundere, so she's just fine.
PS
I got my Maths for Economists exam in 12 hours , what am I doing here...

Well, as long as you don't answer 'Houki' or 'tsundere' in your exam, I think you'll do fine...:heh: Hmm, to be honest, I'm not sold on Houki yet, I don't find her too annoying but I don't find her all that special either - hopefully that'll change as time goes and we know more about her. As for now, what I'm most curious about is her IS; after all, her sister is the inventor of IS, so I wonder if she left a special IS for her little sister?

thing is, there's enough of her dere side that makes me like her. normally, you get a lot of tsun and not nearly enough dere.

They were also childhood friends to inspire this "dere" side. So that's probably the setup that made alot of fans like her ;)

At least she has a "dere" side, some some tsundere of late should be called only "tsun".

I'm not sure that you could say that Houki was surprisingly comfortable with Ichika when he walked in on her when she was dressed in nothing but a towel. I get the feeling that she was in shock but quickly recovered once Ichika realized that they were going to be roommates. Even if he had de-escalated the situation by saying "Do you want me to wait outside for a couple of minutes?" it's likely that she wouldn't let him get off lightly once she had gotten into something decent.
