Mari Okada. Dear fucking god.

Tari Tari has been doing very well without her presence, why do they want her back :(.

Archon_Wing 2012-08-24 04:09

Should have sweet character designs, so that might be a step up.

But I'm currently allergic to Mari Okada, so I dunno.

fertygo 2012-08-24 04:15

At least the "usual gang" will gathered and focus in one thread now. :D

No idea who this director is. Quick research says his biggest involvement is in the directorial process of the Inuyasha anime and a bunch of Lupin anime (not the latest one, which a certain writer ruined).

Damn. We have a character designer who's known for perv. Denpa Onna and Haganai. Didn't like the character designs for both so I'm pretty sure this is not going to change my opinion. But then again it's...

... PA, you already have Red Data Girl and most likely Sakura Kagura in the works (the actual Hisaya anime as he bailed on writing for Tari Tari) and now you're adding another series to your belt. No wonder why your visuals took a beating as of late (Another and Tari Tari look pretty mediocre for a PA Works series). You're taking on too much work.

Well despite the work overload, at least it will look above average. Just don't go overboard with the bad fanservice please. Actually, who am I kidding. This is impossible because of...

Spoiler for Hyperbole version. Involves profanity. You have been warned:

:heh: :p

On a more serious and realistic note, this looks very underwhelming production staff wise so I'm giving it a pass unless either Okada proves herself that she's back from coocooland or a bunch of people can guinea pig this for me. Though I'm going to have to make an exception to the 3 ep rule. Gonna need at least half the series for this one to pass the test since I'm more than well aware of Okada's writing tendecies as of late - i.e. they always trainwreck HARD at some point.

I am disapoint in your research skills :p

The director is a frequent collaborator of Okada's,he directed 2 Okada anime: Black Butler and the Book of Bentora, he was also a prominent staff member of HSI directing and storyboarding a number of episodes Okada wrote herself.

Should be interesting which of this or Red Data Girl comes first.

Probably Red Data Girl since it was announced first. Though Hanasaku Iroha movie might be even before Red Data girl.

I'm actually interested in Red Data Girl since the premise and staff looks promising for that ... unlike Nagi no Asu Kara.

Plenty of noise that won't die down that's all.......like the static on a TV screen not tuned to any station.

Best to judge her stuff for yourself and not get involved.

For some reason PA Works series never have outstanding directors, or at least someone outstanding enough to stand alongside a writer like Mari Okada in terms of influence. A bit of a shame, really.

totoum 2012-08-24 10:27

What does the title (Nagi no Asu Kara) translate to?

I hope Okamura gets to direct something for P.A works someday since he seems to work with the studio from time to time.

Although Nagai isn't like one of my favorite directors or anything, I really hope that some day Nagai works with PA Works because he's proven with Toradora and Anohana that he's able to keep her in check.

In fact, JC Staff has two good semi-regular directors despite how infamous they are - Tatsuyuki Nagai and Kenichi Kasai. Cmon PA, they're freelancers, nab one of them!

Guardian Enzo 2012-08-24 11:53

Nagai is pretty close to the cream of the crop AFAIC, and I'd love to see him do a PA show - though maybe not with Okada writing it. Although their last collab was obviously a huge success.

I don't know - an Okada original at this point is a pure crapshoot. I do happen to like Buriki's character designs and look forward to seeing them in PA's hands. I'm not that nuts for Okada's work with this director on Kuroshitsuji II (the one she wrote rather than adapted) so my expectations will be muted.

Small correction, this director worked on the first season but was not involved at all with original S2

Guardian Enzo 2012-08-24 12:11

Ah - Interesting. Hard to draw many conclusions based on that then, since S1 was basically a faithful adaptation until the last few eps.

Pocari_Sweat 2012-08-24 12:13

I don't know how reliable this is, but a bunch of people on ANN seem to this might be a one-off OVA project. I'm hoping this is true. Don't want PA to waste time with a writer like Okada.

MisaoFan 2012-08-24 12:26

I hope P.A Works will make this show a first attempt at doing mecha things.

That would be amazing... but not with Okada thnx. Last time Okada did a mecha, we got Aquarion EVOL :frustrated:

Is this original material? I assumed that since it's connected to Dengeki Bunko's anniversary it must be based upon some light novel.
