Wait, before I start watching it, can anyone give me a general synopsis of the storyline? The wiki article is really awful, and doesn't give any kind of plot summary whatsoever, which is kind of unusual.

I'm interested since I haven't heard of it before, but it's obviously good enough to get its own subforum.

Okay, I'll give it a go:

It is the future. Due to pollution of the Earth, mankind has moved to five giant space stations, one for each region of Earth.

There is a girl, Akiha, who is in high school. Then one day her older sister drops the bomb that she is engaged to someone, so she decides to run away. While running away in an escape pod, she suddenly gets run over by a space colony. The colony is run by a deranged, egotistical, condescending, megalomaniac AI named Leopard (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) who has a BFG for a ****.

With lots of innuendo, innovative mecha design, insane amounts of humour and pure awesome fight scenes, this is the beginning of The Girl Who Leapt Through Space! It's hella good, so watch it!

EDIT: Why do I always take so long to post...?

No, I just happen to somehow mastered the Ninja class skills lol

And yea this show has lots of innovation, incredibly awesome and clever stuff.

The series constantly juggles between crankiness and awesomeness, so much that its funny and awesome at the same time. It doesn't seem to take itself seriously, but its actually progressing seriously lol

EDIT: Downside of typing fast is spelling checks and edits after it.

EDIT: The show is mainly targeted at mecha fans, especially Sunrise mecha and has lots of puns and parodies of their own series. Its a wild entertaining ride of a whole lot of wacky stuff. It also has really pleasant and tasteful fanservice and nothing crude. A whole cast of colourful characters that anyone would definitely find some that they really like.

targetting mecha fans yes, but with mostly references. in fact only 2 episodes had some good mecha action. otherwise it's way more of a fanservice and comedy show than a real mecha show.

It only appears that way because we're in the setup phase. As always, come episode 17, I have a feeling that things will take a drastic turn.

It seemed like 24~26 episode show from the beginning.

I know the plot is suggesting 24-26 (Probably 25. All Mech series seem to like multiples of 25), but everywhere I read has said 13. When and where was this second OP and ED announced?

Fishfood1 2009-03-04 18:15

episode 9 had 2nd ED, so i'll assume 2nd OP will happen soon

My first sighting of them was at Getchu, though the Lantis website has them now too.

That wasn't the second ending. That was a one-time ending for a special episode.

Thanks a lot. Definitely sounds worth watching. Well, time to torrent until my hard-drive screams for mercy! :heh:

For the meanwhile, you'll be stuck at episode 7 because of the slow release of subs (StrikeS translator might be very busy. :heh:).

C.A. 2009-03-05 05:15

lol I knew my post will not be noticed, everytime I ninja someone, I actually get counter ninja'd. My post will be at the bottom of the page and the person who counter ninja'd be would be the first post of a new page where people will instantly notice :heh:

For the number of episodes, its not just the OP/ED that points to 26 episodes.

The OST is labeled OST1, pointing to an OST2. This usually works for every 13 episodes.

Then there's the most undeniable piece of evidence which is the DVD volumes. The site stats that there are 9 volumes, except for the first volume, with 2 episodes, the other 8 has 3. 2 + 8*3 = 26 episodes.

Spectacular_Insanity 2009-03-21 01:36

Hm, I'm only up to episode 3 right now, so maybe it's already been explained, but what are those things under Itsuki's eyes? Are they just decorative markings or is she an insomniac? :heh:

You need to catch up lol

Those markings appear when Itsuki is using QT, its also on Buu and Min. Its somehow related to ICP's method of using QT, the Leopard girls's use QT in different ways thus they don't have QT eye shadows.

For what is QT, you'd have to catch up first before reading the rest of the subforum, especially the technology thread.

Akiha was shown with them in episode 9, though.

sacchin mentioned that on the 5th, that's 2+ weeks ago, so epi 7 is accurate at that time.

Yeah, hi, long time no post here...
So I've gotten all the colonies names so far and their being named after historical figures, but what's Leopard's connection? I'm pretty sure it's been answered before but I couldn't find it...

While I've not been around here for an even longer time that you, I remember every single post that was posted here before :p

Leopard for Giacomo Leopardi and Nerval for Gérard de Nerval.

Spoiler for Rie Tanaka:

I am kind of confuse at what's going on, is Nerval good or bad or the human themselves bad? things just jumps around like a ball in a drying machine...
