Shimata, it was a filler.

And it won't be the last one either..... Great.

boat fishing is easy mode, real men fish from the shore!

It was filler, but enjoyable filler; hey, beats epic flashbacks!

of course, there was much suspension of disbelief; why, with a sizable coastline, is there only one port? And why, if there has been a giant monster there for 15 years, hasn't anyone a. killed monster to free up the only freakin port or b. built another freakin port?

Oh well, if you just forget about logic it's an entertaining show.
Kind of reminds me of the adventures of prince casbian...yeah, we're probably in for a ton o fillers. Can Naruto just fight Sasuke now? Please???

Who else wants to see a filler arc involving pirates?!

If the information in the Upcoming Shippuden Episode Title thread is correct, we may be getting just that in 226!

I was just about to bring up those exact questions. In any case, I feel like I've seen far too many sub plots and fillers in anime featuring boys and/or young men pursuing sea monsters for the sake of avenging their fathers. I think even Ao no exorcist had a plot like this not more than a few episodes ago. lol So yeah...tis a pretty meh episode IMO. Guy should've unleashed 6 or 7 gates to punch that thing into oblivion. Or better yet, Naruto should've turned that thing into sashimi via Rasenshuriken a few minutes into the ep.

Especially the use of music.. what? I hope you're being sarcastic. I see nothing good about filler episode that focuses on fishing and has epic music that fits epic battles on the background.. It totally did not fit. I'd rather have a filler - original story on Naruto going on some mission or something rather than this crap. They've done it before so could do it again..

Two-thirds the way in, I had to question my reasoning for watching this...

Why are there cannons on that ship? Why is there talk of an internal combustion engine? WHY ARE THEY MAKING FISHING EPIC IN PROPORTION AS THE ODYSSEY?

Why'd they make it? Why'd the make it like this?!

The best would be that Naruto is bait. He is #1 at being bait. Even Sunohara/Yuuno/any trap/any idiot cannot compare to him.

I don't get it. Why was the eye of that fish red until Naruto removed the shuriken? I could understand if it was a genjutsu or whatever, but it was just a shuriken.

You might want to read the subs next time you watch the anime.. It was a demon shuriken.. or something. Can't remember the details but yeah.

What's a demon shuriken? It just looked like one of those things Sasuke used against Zabuza.

LMAO, Guy opens like 10 gates to row a boat when he coulda fingerflicked that Marlin in the face to stop it...

The thing I never understand about Naruto filler is it's total disregard for all of the characters in the show...Naruto has to appear in 90% of all the fillers in the history of the show...Sasuke's in what? 1%? Why not a side mission with Shino and his father? How bout something Neji centric? Hell an episode with Shikimaru just running all the scenarios in his head on what to do moving forward would be cool as hell...They just don't try at all, which is why Naruto filler is considered douchery thru-out the community for years in years...

Didn't hate the episode, but again use the fillers to shine the light on others who might deserve it...Hell I wouldn't be against a total parody episode having the characters as Kaimen Rider or Gatchaman fodder...

They did focus fillers on other characters in the past... But they were awful... We all remember the Shino Laughed episode (actual episode title), which completely ruined Shino's character for everyone who has seen it.
