Episode 1:

Episode is out on Crunchyroll today. Lol, first episode's tittle is apparently "♀ IRL, ♂ Online"...(makes total sense)

Looks like the main girl (Moriko ) is a NEET and she even admits herself that she chose the path. She also makes a "hot guy" character in a fantasy MMO game named Hayashi. The themes of the show seems to pop fun at the lifestyle of a NEET.

Not impressed by the visual style of this anime yet although I will say that it gave me a few laughs at times. It doesn't seem the show takes itself seriously and is pretty lighthearted in nature.

This WILL be my #1 favorite show of the fall. A spiritual successor to Watamote, where Tomoko is all grown up but still hating humanity and now an 'elite NEET'. I know, I might be stretching it, but Moriko gives me those vibes!

Disagree. I feel like in the convenience store, Moriko's angst/jealousy about seeing all the couples really came across.

I remember looking at this at comico before it went on hiatus a long time ago.

Will be glad to see a conclusion (hopefully).

What are the white flowers that go in the bin at the start? The heroine was given flowers when she quit her job? Also where does she get the money for a huge computer?

Looks like it might be good.

She was worried about getting to work when her alarm went off at 7 am. So she must have been working a proper job until now but quit for some reason.

HandofFate 2017-10-06 23:37

First episode had a bit more mmo playing content than I liked, hopefully once the secret it out, there be more scenes of her irl. I enjoyed those the most.

If she got flowers after resigning/quitting, she probably had a least a mid-manager position or in a decent company for a while, so I assume she has some significant savings to live the NEET lifestyle for a while.

ArrowSmith 2017-10-06 23:41

I like the concept of "NEET Elite" as if that's a THING. I guess it means she has 1 year of savings and then she's fucked?

Spoiler for ep1:

I watched this pretty much on a whim, because the story sounded cute and funny, and indeed - it was cute and funny, and way more real than expected. :heh: The whole "NEET in real life develops a perfect life in a fantasy game" thing is the sort of story that you either do like this, or it's just really depressing, so I'm glad the story went with the fluffier approach.

The place she lives in is quite down-market so the rent is likely to be cheap. She's about 30 or so, she's been working for ten years or more and assuming she reached a mid-level manager position at the end of it while saving up for her NEET life, I'd guess she's got two or maybe even three years of rent, electricity (for her computer setup), basic konbini shopping, no family, no new clothes, no car, no pets, no going out to eat and drink or socialising or travelling.

BTDT, a while back I had a bit of cash in hand after a lucrative contract finished up so I coasted for a few years then once the bank balance got low enough I went out and got another job (but not as well-paid as previously). If you've got family, responsibilities and a social life then a steady paycheck is the only way to go but otherwise, life's too short.

As for the show itself? OK but not brilliant, a sort-of reverse isekai where the bishonen level 80 hero Hayashi from fantasy-land finds himself gender-swapped in our mundane world fighting for the last piece of Xmas chicken in the konbini store.

I was going to pass on this series because of the general concept (not my kind of show) but decided to give the first ep a try out of curiosity. I was surprised at how entertaining the first ep was. Will continue until I get bored with it.

She did apparently upgrade to a newer, more powerful PC (with extra bling) about halfway through the episode. New PC has multiple green LED fans, fancy gaming style mouse and a mechanical kepboard, both with multi-color LED lighting. might also be a bigger monitor. The old one is in box (probably sold to defray some of the costs). A big expense, but not huge. A better gaming PC with a bit of bling might run around US$650

PC Master Race + NEET + great local convenience store = the best existence ever.

Convoy 2017-10-09 18:49

Why does this thread have the original mangaka's name in the thread title? It's a bit confusing to the eye when none others in this subforum do.

I think that its part of the official title of the show.

Wandering_Youth 2017-10-13 14:18

Mamiko Noto as a thirty year old female NEET. I have to say I have never heard her do this kind of role before and her voice sounds so coarse and actually normal. I'm liking it so far as I can totally relate as I'm always playing the opposite gender in MMOs.

Uhh, that PC case she has looks like a Cooler Master CM 690 III and even it isn't it looks like it's sporting two 200mm RGB intake fans meaning it's a near high end case. Those kinds of cases easy go for $100+ and with dual monitors that's easily another $400+. The fancy mouse and keyboard could also go up to $100+ each and we don't even know what parts she actually using inside her PC. If she went on a mad splurge I would say her total setup can be around $2,000. Does anyone know what her headphones are? She wasn't kidding when she said she's a elite NEET now, lol

Correct me if I am wrong, but flowers are usually giving to female managerial/supervisor positions who are retiring or quitting the job in Japan? It might explain how she might still have some cash leftover.

So cute! Everything is so cute, even the MMO landscape is so cute! Characters are so cute! OP and ED are so cute! Hug pillow is so cute... OK, perhaps not. But the characters are all so huggable, and especially the main girl. I think it is canon after ep 2 that handsome blond Sakurai guy is Lily? I am not sure they said it but it kind of seems obvious. Anyway this series is like an enormous candy floss, I hope to see more like this.
