I'm not so sure. That's clearly a Gundam Astaroth variant, and it has an IBO placard next to it.

The paint job though. Did Norba went to the manga sidestory and paint it? Or is there another Char-clone in the manga? :heh:

Yep. That's Triaina. I can't forget the mech's name coz it's basically "Tri + Aina = Three times the Aina!!" :D Btw, I love it. I cheered the moment I see that HG. I dig the gangster look. You can't even find it in G Gundam.

Triaina kit...oh god, my wallet can't take this anymore. Can't wait for someone to paint it in purple...or for someone to do a 'The Mask' custom.:heh:

Between RG Sinanju and the IBO kits, it seems I'll have to learn how to photosynthesize.

wavehawk 2016-05-12 05:15

Should I feel bad that the only thing I like about that Red IBO MS is the feet?

I am actually more excited about the Revive Hyaku-Shiki than the RG Sinanju right now. I was tempted to buy the old HGBF Mega Shiki to convert it but resisted the urge. Now I'm happy--not only because a proper Hyauk Shiki is out, it's NOT electroplated! Hooray!

Faux Mecha 2016-05-12 05:23

so is it like now a reoccurring theme that side story manga protagonist Gundams are red coloured? :heh:

SEED > Astray Red Frame
00 > Astrea type-F
Gunpla Builders Beginning G > red on white Beginning Gundams
AGE > Age-1 Daiki version Phoenix Wear(?)
Build Fighters > various red custom gunplas

& now the red Astaroth.

Router25 2016-05-12 06:38

The red ones go faster, or maybe cheap red primer.
I'm also kinda curious about those large shoulder binders if there is any offensive function on those (maybe flight wings) and the new weapon on its side.

^ Wait, Blastoise doesn't have a hammer. So that Gusion shouldn't carry one! *nitpicky at its best* :p

Faux Mecha 2016-05-12 22:24

well at least someone still remembers how awesomely designed the Vagan suits are to be used as a dragon type Pokemon base :heh:

Is that Dom supposed to be Venusaur? It looks more like a Vileplum.

Knight_SV 2016-05-13 08:25

i don't think the red ms is astaroth variant or original form, maybe it was the gundam that the main character search of for revenge. and i can smell, HGUC Zeta revive will be out due to end of the year

bummer, so i guess the next manga protagonist Gundam isn't red colored after all, unless the Astaroth's upgrades later gave it red colors that makes it distinct from unknown demon name red Gundam.

why the HG revive Hyakku Shiki isn't just in its metallic gold version instead of the creamy yellow colors? :heh:

Rising Dragon 2016-05-13 23:20

There's not many mobile suits in the franchise that translate well into Venusaur.

I didn't feel it before but the new P-Bandai announcements make me sad. RE 1/100 Efreet Schneid and MG Hyaku Shiki Kai are right up my alley while the 1/144 Ghost Jegan M and F look pretty good too. Can't forget the RG Astray Gold Frame as well.

Bandai're probably still racking their brains trying to come up with a good transformation engineering for RG Unicorn that won't make the Destroy-mode flimsy like the MG. Compared to that, the straighforward RG Sinanju is a walk in the park (probably with some new gimmicks).

I honestly would prefer they go the HG route and keep the transformation out. The complexity of it is bound to leave the RG fragile or prone to breakage. Separating the Unicorn's two modes into different RG models means they can include all of the Unicorn's armaments while keeping a good incentive for us to buy both of them.

Tough luck for a non-Gundam MS to get a PG (what was the last one? Zaku?). Then again, Sinanju is really popular so it's still possible.
Pretty sure the Zaku is the only non-gundam MS to get a PG thus far but if any MS is going to break that, Sinanju is the only choice.

- Oh hell no. The last time the HGUC Hyaku-Shiki was in metallic gold, the metallic gold one cost about the same as the version that was non-metallic and came with the Mega Bazooka Launcher. So basically the Mega Bazooka version was far better value for money, if you're pressed for cash and/or okay with painting the kit yourself.

Also, I think they're using the HGBF Mega Shiki for this version. I haven't built the Mega Shiki, but one of the other pains about the original HGUC and MG Metallic Hyaku Shiki kits was that their sprues had to be specifically undergated--so as not to destroy the metallic look of the kit. Even then there were issues. I don't know if the Mega Shiki kit was undergated.

This is actually one of the reasons I hate metallic kits with a passion: you spend more for a metallic kit than you would for a normal kit, and you'd have to put in a lot of work making sure the nibs/sprue cuts don't ruin the look of the kit. The two times I've had an all-metallic kit had me spending weeks stripping off the metallic paint and repainting it from scratch anyway because I screwed up just one sprue cut. Both were the old no-grade G Gundam 1/144 kits in "Hyper gold" colors. Ugh.

I'd rather have a non-metallic kit that's cheaper since I'm going to be putting the work to make it look good anyway. That way I don't have to grab a magnifying glass and ensure my sprue cut is so flawless that it doesn't need putty, cement or sanding. The only exception I've ever made to metallic parts were the blades of the RG Exia, and only because they're done well enough that I don't need to stress about having to sand nub marks and repainting the damn thing.

Additional: I actually like my Hyaku Shiki to look a dull brushed-metallic look as opposed to mirror shiny metallic. Some guys I know like painting their Hyaku Shiki plain yellow. So I think that, while plasticky gold is disgusting this is probably the best way to sell out a Revive Hyaku Shiki. Or else they can just release two versions, one metallic and one not.

Also, I can't see it well due to lighting, but does RG Sinanju ditch the color separation by using the same red all over?

Those do look to be black parts, rather than stickers. This is an RG model afterall, and parts/color separation is one of its most important traits.
